Was about to buy a pair of the Wood Butcher boots from Nick’s in waxed flesh, but then the model got the axe evidently because of sole quality issues. Still bummed. This looks cool, I just don’t wear 8” boots much.

I tried a different pair of boots every 8 months or so when I was in the regular Army. The S2V was by far the best for my feet and my favorite. I still wear them in the National Guard and for LE work.

I own two pairs of their dress shoes and one pair of "boat shoes". These are all super comfortable, and have good arch support. They needed no break-in period. Because of the soles, they aren't quite as "dressy" but they feel as good on the feet as, say, a running shoe. Also, they have a neat "trade-up" program in which you can donate an older pair of shoes (locally) and they give you $50 off a new pair. I think they are very well made for the price. Both of my dress shoes get plenty of wear and still look brand new. I haven't seen their line of boots. I own two pair of Nick's boots and there is zero chance they are made as well as a $700 pair of Nicks, but they are about 1/3 the price of a solid pair of Nicks. I would guess they are comfortable and of above-average quality, like the rest of their lineup. I'd love to see one of these cut open. We will certainly see where they cut corners to keep costs down (these aren't made with 7-8oz leathers!) but I will bet they compare pretty well to other boots in that price range.

Like knife makers make Hugh end knifes then make a budget version you should do that make a pair for 100/175 range and just see what u could change but leave the leather and good souls and all that, they'd still be better then anything else in that price range and so many more of us could get a pair that will last awhile and in are price range lol thk u love n learn alot from you, keep it up peace

I will say that a "Premium Rockport" Chuckka Boot is pretty on point for Mill Valley.

Brit here, my favourite footwear is my Loake “Bedale” brogue boots. They’re great everyday wear and I shoot in them (clay venues in England are off-road but usually pretty easy going so you don’t need anything specialist for it). I also have Loake dress shoes and some Loake casual shoes but those last ones are made in India, not the UK. TBH I’m not really committed to Loake, I’d like to try other British boots when the occasion arises but most high street shoe stores stock mostly cheap Far Eastern glued-up shoes/boots and in your particular town there will probably only be one or if you are lucky two premium brands available. More online of course but footwear is one of the few things that I feel strongly about trying on before paying a substantial sum for so I won’t buy over the internet. And when I bought these, Loake were the premium brand that were in stock in my size in the town I was looking in.

I wear their Market Cap shoe for a dress shoe since I am able to wear it with my orthotic inserts. I have often wondered about the composition in light of my higher quality boots from Red Wing and Grant Stone. Cut the boots - please!

Those are nice boots, but I’d like to get some WITHOUT that little spacer on the rear that is between the tread and the boor(that piece that is cork colored). I’d also like to have real lace HOLES instead of those fast loop “things” that are so common in logger boots. It’s a strange personal preference but I’ve got reasons.😢

I don’t know about Samuel Hubbard’s shoes. I had the Hubbard Free oxfords and they were not what Samuel Hubbard advertised. They were supposed to be comfortable and have an orthopedic quality, but they were never comfortable. The footbed was synthetic and way too hard. The model was positioned as like their central product, their best value shoe, but it never held up. It never was a pleasure to go for walks in them. They did fit, they were light, the uppers and lining were high quality, I’ll give them that, but the wide size was too wide for my EE foot. I ended up giving mine away, and I’ll avoid purchasing Samual Hubbard going forward. Italy’s Astorflex produces shoes that are not too different than Samuel Hubbard in terms of casualness, and at similar prices, but Astorflex offers far better craftsmanship and fit. For boots along the lines of the Samuel Hubbard’s pair you showed us, I’d recommend spending another hundred or so and going with Parkhurst, Red Wing, Grant Stone or Allen Edmonds, not necessarily in that order. When on sale those brands may not be more than Samuel Hubbard. I wouldn’t waste my money again.

Man says ND1's and ND3's were really the ones people wanted. Decides to go in a different direction and make a jungle boot. Would make sense to make a product that people are asking for over personal creative pursuits. I mean, that boot will probably cost what the other boots cost, $600 or so, and for that money, I'll just buy me a pair of RothCo or anything else. I would love to buy a pair of ND3's, good chance the ND1. Not this.
