That leather is SO COOL! I really liked the earlier rub-off leather but this blood-core seems like it might make you happy about the scratches that normally piss you off.
Now that you got the blood core and blood bison leathers the way you like it, you should totally try and convince Nicks to do a limited ND4.5 with these leathers!

I like that burgandy prototype better than the finished product only because it takes a lot to scratch the 2.0 i doubt most will see the bloodcore unless they rub the boot on rocks. Nice boot, i would get it but i have a 2.0
Love the Blood leather. It's a different look. And, the Drifter 3 is good looking boot. And, White's are my favorite boots. Own 4 pairs all ready. Could I make a suggestion that maybe the next boot is a 6 or 7 inch boot. Some of us don't like them that tall. Just a thought. I also will be at Russell's for my fitting on Friday. Really enjoy seeing these type of video's.
I like the rounded toe and looks like a nice last. This leather reminds me of a 'scratch art' project I did in high school where you took a piece of coated white paper, painted it with and ink (or something) then scratch a drawing on it. I understand the concept and do like the redline detail showing on the kiltie and areas on the upper. Not sure if I'd keep the scuffs or dye over them. I don't have a hand sewn stitchdown from Whites (just a couple pair of moc toes) but they look nice, just not sure if it's my thing.
White's, make this leather available on all your last. I'm not into the Western look. It's a great idea from RA having deep red pop out eventually. Like no other leather out there. I'll take a pair of the 9338 in a size 13, please.

Fit for purpose is the question you're asking and then moving the goal posts to get a different answer. For your average guy working a normal job, a set of Red Wings are absolutely the best boot you can buy from a cost to performance ratio. Your $600 or $1000 pair don't impart any more comfort or value.
@@otm646There's a whole lot to choose from between $600-$1000 and red wings. JK comes to mind. Also Truman, parkhurst, cordobes, and many more that actually do give you more durability or more style than red wings. Seems like the problem is that you only know about red wings and Nicks/White's.

Yeah the problem is you have to do quite a bit of damage to get the red. If this was merely patina it would look great but you’re scraping a lot of leather off to see red.
@@JJ-zr6fu It’s really not hard to wear through that top coat of stain when you work in them everyday, especially outdoors in the brush, rocks, etc. All my work boots get very worn down and covered with nicks and scratches that reveal that inner grain.

Wear my Drifter 2.0 almost everyday for work. Most comfortable pair of boots I’ve ever owned. The last is amazing for me.
