5 Great Kitchen Storage & Organization Ideas
Beautiful desk. Love the reuse of the gym floor for the kids. I'm sure pop is proud to have it. Also love the 'throw-together' jig for the tapers. Great video, loving the channel. 💪👍
I have a broken metal pin in one. Help to get it out?
Really cool looking table. As a beginner, I find myself wishing for a full build video. Can you say more about the uprights, the square pillars. Were those a glue up? A solid piece? Inquiring n00b minds want to know. 🙏
Thanks so much! I made the table entirely out of 5/4 material so all the trestle components were glued up from two pieces to get the 2” thickness.
Sound! So often overlooked. Good stuff!
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼
Very helpful.
Thanks, Patrick! 🙏🏼
Really cool hardware and a beautiful build~! That is a great shade of blue as well. Nice work as always~!
Thanks, Andrew!
hi Jeff. I like the leather apron. May I ask where you purchased it?
Thanks! The one and only Calavera Tool Works. Worlds best 💪🏼
So is this just a biscuit joiner like my porter cable one I got 15 years ago? Or does this do that fancy cabinet connection thing where it bumps at the end of the cut to put in a T groove or something? I read that biscuits are terrible at expanding with glue compared to the Domino tenons, curious if these do a better job of that or not.
This is just a biscuit joiner. You’re thinking of the Lamello Zeta P2. We have a video covering that about 18 months ago.
@@TodaysCraftsmen Ah yes.. ok. So what makes this worth $700 vs the $100 or so I paid for my PC joiner? Does it do some other fancy stuff? Or is it a name brand bump in price thing like Festools?
Just a high quality tool built in Switzerland. Cordless always adds some cost too.
Can there be screwed to the bottom of the cabinet as opposed to the side
It’s not impossible but they have one made specifically for that application.
Do they work well on retrofits with original boxes that have half inch gaps on both sides
No, you’d have to pad out each side with 5/16 material. They require a 3/16” gap on either side.
Nice work as always! Are you able to remove the docking drawer without taking the countertop off if you needed to replace it or access the outlet for any reason?
Thank you! Absolutely. Just unscrew the box and feed it out sideways as you remove the drawer. Basically eh opposite of how I showed putting it in
@ Sweet thanks for the reply, I wasn’t sure if the pivot arm prevented that
Any time!
No you can't do this in "any drawer." Those things need a minimum drawer width (12" or something; I forget).
I don’t think you’re going to want to install it in a drawer more narrow than that. Probably not a good idea to put it in a 9” deep drawer either.
Excellent video thanks
Thanks, Ronnie! 🙏🏼
Great cabinet, nice color for that cabinet and amazing hardware(the pulls) and very nice touch, even if wasn’t intended, that oak stained plate is just adding value to the piece. Great job guys.
Thanks so much!
sharp, beautiful color and finish on those cabinets too!
Thanks, Kevin! 🙏🏼
Great video as always Jeff. That’s a very great idea definitely going to keep that in mind. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, Jim! Glad you liked it!
Very cool Jeff. I love that such a great idea...🤘🤘🤘
Thanks man, appreciate it!🤘🤘🤘
That’s really nice!
Thanks, Mark!
I only love my kids to an IKEA level.
😂😂😂 better than Walmart!
I want to comment to help the algorithm, but all I can come up with is inappropriate jokes about the mess in Jeff's drawers....
Hahahaha how many can you think of?
@TodaysCraftsmen I'd tell you, but I don't go after low hanging fruit...
😂😂😂 c’mon we gotta drum up some comments lol
@TodaysCraftsmen no I'll leave the mess in your drawers to you and your wife...
😂😂😂
What about servicing after installation? When you no longer have access through the open top how would you, for instance, even remove the drawer since the Docking thing kind of attaches the drawer to the cabinet?
Remove the screws and pull the drawer out by feeding the box back through the hole. They’re tested to 500k operations I believe so they’ll last a few lifetimes.
Beautiful cabinet build Jeff and that docking drawer is way cool! 👍👍
Thanks, Steve!
Tried to find “confirmat” screws on HD website. Got a pile of garbage under “confirmed” screw…..😢
I doubt HD carries them. There’s a link in the description or Quickscrews.com has them
Really nice, Jeff. Great project and installation. I was wondering if you were going to clock the screws and then you did. I was thinking about a divider so part of the drawer could be used for storage without blocking the charging. Bill
Thanks, Bill! I always clock my screws 😁 Personally I like to go parallel to the long side of whatever it is. A divider is a good idea but as you can see you can fill up a 30”+ drawer pretty fast!
Nice one man. Good tip to pad out the outlet in the drawer to gain that 2". Question - did you have to trial where to set that first screw on the arm? I've found that if the arm is racked slightly then it may struggle to close the drawer flush, or smoothly. Also frustrates me that the arm wants to pull the drawer closed slightly, but all together it is a great product. 🎯
Thanks! We ended up just shifting it slightly in the slotted holes after the initial install. That’s definitely the only tricky part of the whole operation.
Interesting, Jeff. Bill
Thanks, Bill!
@@TodaysCraftsmen bill says your welcome jeff kevin
Thanks, Kevin! 😝
thanks, where do you get your bar clamp?
Those are made by Dubuque Clamp Works out of Dubuque, Iowa.
@ thanks. I am going to try and find some
They’re the best! If you go to our website we have an Amazon link. I haven’t seen them in a brick and mortar store.
Any special pre-drilling requirements?
They say you can run these in without predrilling. I tried it and it did work. I’m using 3mm pilots off of my boring machine so haven’t tested that extensively.
I've watched a few of your hvlp/paint videos now and always see you checking your spray before actually hitting the piece. I've just upgraded from my fuji semi pro to a mini mite 5, which doesn't have the PSI controller other than closing down the hose so I'm a bit worried of just having too much air going. I'm just wondering if you can explain a bit of what you're looking for when you're getting it dialed in on the paper. How do you tell if you have the correct atomization set? I'm going to use this 2k finish on a coming project so just want to make sure I'm properly set up right before I mix up a batch. You sprayed it here with a 2.0 tip but I'm thinking with this new turbine, I should be more at the 1.3 or 1.0 tip.
You want to see a nice oval shape with finely atomized material feathered out on the outside. If there are large particles mixed with small particles you need to either reduce the fluid or increase the air. Hope that helps!
Just bought one, the trigger system is now different.
What did they change?
There’s no top green lever to release the head of the saw and the button to depress on the side of the trigger has changed, it’s moved to a sliding style piece on the bottom of the trigger that you slide to the right as you squeeze the trigger.
Interesting! I disable them either way 😉
@@TodaysCraftsmen I was thinking I’d have to when I bought the saw, it was the only thing I didn’t like about it from the reviews I’d seen. After years of running dewalt saws I didn’t think I’d get on with it.
Those safeties can be a huge PITA
What do you do when you get small dots like salt? I'm using something similar to a Wagner flexio and I've used a filter for the paint but I get these dots and it's not bubbles since I can't poke them with a needle. I let it dry but is there anything I can do about it?
I’m not familiar with the Wagner Flexio but sounds like there’s too much air in the material or it’s drying to fast. Try reducing it a little bit
@@TodaysCraftsmen thanks for replying. I think you’re right, the paint seems to dry fast around the needle since it blows warm air. (Heat from the blower motor)
Ahh. Yes try to get the turbine as far away from the spraying area too.
@@TodaysCraftsmen Thanks!
Anytime 🙌🏼
Great video, solid advice.
Thanks so much! 🙏🏼
Great demo, Jeff~! Like a few others below, it's rare that I go for the jigsaw, but even so, I understand it better having seen this. Always looking forward to what's next~!
Thanks, Andrew! Glad it was helpful 🙏🏼
Awesome video, learned a lot
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching.
Informative video. Keep them coming good sir. Y’all are my two favorite ❤
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, we'll keep cranking them out!
Man I had a D handle for years it finally died I got the m18 barrel grip never could go back now
Jon has the m18 d-handle and to be honest it felt cheap.
@ I thought the same thing! My buddy has it, neither one of them compare to the Makita stuff seems as good imo
I want the Makita barrel grip but it was crazy expensive. Maybe a little less now
I have a black and decker and the settings are straight and multiple curved settings
Nice. Like settings other than oscillation?
I’ll have to go check my old Ryobi for those oscillating settings. Only ever really use it to rough cut but on occasion some cuts more bandsaw like cuts. Some good pints to know. Every time I see those barrel grips it makes sense to me to use that shape.
Good info, I’ve had some problems with the blade not cutting straight up and down, but rather deflected to a side on thicker pieces. Is that just user error or something that might’ve causing that?
Could be you’re feeding too fast or you’re just cutting more than your saw and blade can handle!
Sad plans are no longer free...
Sorry! We did say they would be free for a limited time and they were free for about 3 months. If you enjoy our videos it’s a great way to support the channel. Thanks for watching!
Great tip and video, thanks, I use a Festool PSC 420 and I demo'd it recently to a worker mate when using the clear splinter guard for it on an up-cut carvex blade how smooth a cut it left even on a laminate counter top, he was shocked as was as smooth as tracksaw... Thanks again for a great series of vids from the UK.
The PSC 420 is the carvex, right? The Trion is so good that I can only imagine the Carvex is amazing.
Thanks for the insights. May I ask have you ever tried spraying the Dye on Pine? And would you suggest first applying a pre stain conditioner even if you're spraying the Dye ? Thanks in advance.
I haven’t used it on pine! I think dyes are less likely to splotch vs stains (don’t quote me on that, I may be 100% wrong,) but it’s always best to make some samples and then go from there.
Are there any brand of jigsaw blades that are known for high quality? Or maybe that have less deflection?
I’ve had good luck with Festool and Bosch brand blades. I know Starrett makes them too but haven’t tried them.
Do the Festool blades seem a bit heavier to you ?
I haven’t purchased them in quite some time but I do remember them being thick
I don’t use my Festool Carvex barrel grip jigsaw much, but when I do it’s always a joy to use in the shop. In the jobsite I’ve been with my old 20v Dewalt D Handle jigsaw now for almost 10yrs. No complaints with it. But Festool makes a darn nice jigsaw .
If the Trion is nice then the Carvex must be amazing.
Great tips Jeff. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, Jim! 👍🏼
praise be for using mm despite being US (I guess)
A lot of cabinet components are measured in mm even in the US since the 32mm system is so common
Very interesting and informative video Jeff! IMHO, Festools are way overpriced and a comparable brand tool for much less money will do the same job. 👍👍🔨🔨
This is not a snarky reply but an actual question: have you used a lot of Festool? I’ve found that most people with that opinion haven’t had a lot of experience using them. That being said, to each their own!
Good video guys!
Thanks for watching!
Perhaps your older Festool jigsaw didn't have this feature, but on the new ones they have a zero clearance feature. Basically a piece of plastic that is inserted into the jigsaw and cut to each blade so you have a zero clearance insert cut for each blade you use. I have used it and found it to be a great great feature on their jigsaws. Obviously helps on the up cut blades.
I’m pretty sure it does accept that and also a little shroud for dust collection. I’ll have to see about picking up some replacements.
Good stuff as usual. I knew what that switch was for but never really did a side by side comparison like this. Thank you for the info...🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for tuning in! Glad you enjoyed 🙏🏼
@TodaysCraftsmen don't think you gave any update on how the meet up went in December. I've been forgetting to ask you.
It was a good time! Very chill. Hopefully we can plan something in the spring.
