  • Good morning everyone!
In this episode, we take a look at a few different pneumatic nail guns. Jeff demonstrates how to use each nailer and what they are used for. I was surprised to learn that Jeff’s most used nail gun is actually a stapler. After learning more about it, I think an 18 gauge stapler is now at the top of my list for a next tool purchase.
Thanks for watching and have a great day, Jon

When it comes to framing guns, my go to gun is my Max framer. Greatest, well balanced framing gun I’ve ever used. Shoots great and has a very compact head to get into tight areas too.

Great rundown on nailers. Good tip on combo kits. I got a Porter Cable kit @ Home Depot that came with a doughnut 150 psi compressor, 2 nail guns & a stapler. Seems like this kit deals are offered every few months. I’ve also found that Metabo (Hitachi) guns are a great value for Crown Staplers & even framing nailers. Lots of TH-cam vids. helping you pick the brand that meets your needs & budget (e.g. A Concord Carpenter channel).

Hitachi was the king of framer nailers that’s for sure! I’d like to try a Max.

Great presentation~! I'm still using my Porter Cable combo kit that came with my pancake compressor. Rarely is the 16ga nailer used, but my 18ga brad & crown stapler get used all the time. I also picked up the 23ga and I used that mostly for trim pieces or to hold small glue ups together when a clamp is either too clunky or impractical.

Also you have the corrugated fastener nail gun. I’ve used that one in a shop for putting small frames together or stitching countertop buildup together. One of the most scariest nailers for sure with a ton of bounce back.

I’ve looked at them but never tried one!

@@TodaysCraftsmen I find it as mean of a nailer as a framing nailer.

Not a fanboy of Ridgid but they make the best 1/4" crown stapler and 18 gauge pin nailer. I completely disagree on the 23 gauge, Grex makes the best and the 23 gauge is my favourite gun, not only are they easy to fill if you alternate the angle the holding power is fantastic. The trick is to pin on an angle one shot and then the opposite angle the next shot and you will get fantastic holding power and depending on the finish, no need to fill the hole. Been doing this for 25 years and I think the 23 gauge is the most underrated fastener, it's amazing.

I started out with ridgid nailers and had no complaints! I have the grex gas powered 23ga and it’s really solid. I’ve done the ‘cross nailing’ as I call it and it definitely improves the holding strength. Those pins have a mind of their own sometimes and take the path of least resistance.

Nice video - I need to mix the stapler in a bit more. BTW - if you get tired of working in the shop, I think you could have a career doin voiceover work. 😀

No but I’ve been eyeing them up ever since they came around about 10 years ago!

Clickbait! The video is supposed to be about nailers, but you say the stapler is king? How dare you!
