Right now it's been 110° + weather and riding at all has been brutal LOL. Glad you got to enjoy the ride before the heat.. thanks for reminding me to try that coffee shop! Hey, what up? If you ever do the trace again the best of everything is in Natchez and the off beaten tracts of the surrounding area. You see if we knew you were coming we would of got on our bikes and come and got you. We would of cooked you real southern food that would leave your taste buds feeling guilty for thinking about another food while eating the food you swore your love to. I lived in Jackson (the armpit of the south) for a good bit and their food and restaurants are not a strong point for them nor is Natchez restaurants... except for Roux 61. Also there is a art to cooking brisket and the whole thing should be moist. You could just hang out and go walking the creeks hunting artifacts like arrowheads. Go drink beer and catfish off a islands sandy beaches in the middle of the Ms River. Go check out ghost towns like Rodney Ms. where a cannon ball is stil lodged into the wall of the old church from the war. And while were there go mud riding in the swamps and fields down there. Trick some gators by tieing a string to a fish and pulling it as he tries to bite it till he gets pissed and tries to chase you, that sounds odd but its for photographic purposes, the pictures you can get are amazing from low angles. Yea, there is a much better part of the trace that is hidden. Point is if you ever in the area all you got to do is hollar and someone will invite you in like your family. We know no strangers....well maybe cause they don't get no stranger then us,.. but anyways, heck we would even get on our bikes and ride the whole trace with you to keep you company than turn around and ride home and call it a good day. Take care now, ya hear.

Oklahoma has always been one of my favorite states actually. Definitely underrated. When I drove over the road before I retired I used to have several dealership customers in Tulsa and OK City that I delivered autos to. My very favorite breakfast joint is a little place across the street from the casino at the first exit on 40 when coming into the state from Ft Smith, Ark. I can't remember the name of it. Stay safe out there and enjoy.

I am almost 75 and have been living in Oklahoma since 1962 and started riding in 1963. Old 66 is an amazing ride. I have lived in Tuls sice 1977 and befoe that 5 years in OKC. Before that, I lived in one of the smaller cities in Eastern, Oklaoma. I would recommend riding eastern Oklahoma to anybody. It is beautiful. It is known as Green Country. It is a completely different look than the central part of the state and the panhandle. You literally could ride for a week in the northeastern part of the state. In Cherokee County, you will find the Cookson Hills, an area known for the hide outs of many depression era criminals includin Pretty Boy Floyd. If you want to miss the heat and the chance of severe wearther, late September-October is perfect. There is also a world class ride you should make that runs from Talihina, Oklahoma to Mena, Arkansas. It is named the Talimena Drive. It is breathtaking in the fall. If you leave from Tulsa expect a nice breakfast in Okmulgee or Henryetta and lunch at the Queen Wilimena Lodge. I know I spelled that wrong. I can talk about riding the area a lot more than people are willing to listen. Put it on your bucket list.

I swam at the Blue Whale at least once as a kid. The tail was a platform to jump off of into the water. I had a blast!

Sorry, not underrated imo. I always seem to think the Del Rancho chicken fried steak sandwich should be the signature food of Oklahoma. I don’t eat them myself, but I think visitors might enjoy trying one. I didn’t have the pork ribs at the bbq joint you visited. Maybe I’ll go back and try them sometime. Ribs are so messy though. I hate eating them in public. I’m a brisket man myself. I’ve done the majority of the top Texas BBQ places. It is so stupid expensive though.
