that title is a scam lmao
Right. Under two minutes. When you get to the right spot with the floater, use it. Boom done in 15 seconds.
One thing I've always wanted is a discussion on which of the party members has to be the unlucky one to not get a Ribbon!
Thank you for the information, King of Cornelia! I will do as you suggsted, sire.
How does one get the canoe in 2 mins exactly? You skip past hours of walking, not to mention getting the TNT which is the only way to get to the town that contains the canoe. Without a glitch you can't do it. This is a very misleading title.
Solid advice. Those frost dragons are no joke.
Yeah, your title makes it sound like an exploit that allows you to get the airship in 2 minutes. Click bait title.
First thing I do when i get the airship is go buy the squad ProRings if I can afford them.
Reminder that Evil Eye is also one of the better grind opponents since it is always tile-activated (except in Pixel Remaster...). So whether you wanna grind before or after promoting, it's easy exp and money to revisit it as you can fight it every two steps; Mind the spells, but it yields SO much more than the threat it presents (especially with Death protection).
This is my go to grinding spot in the game (prior to the Pixel Remaster). It's the best ROI for time spent vs exp earned! Thank you so much!
Maybe it’s just me, but when I was young, I lived in the middle of the woods. And I never really understood what the heck people like Hollywood. You had to find something to do if not you would go insane of boredom. One of the things I did is play video games. And mystic quest, link II, ghostbusters all kept me some really insane stuff!
Born in the city but brought up in the rural south - same. I believe it's one of the reasons I ended up finding my love of games, especially this series! Thank you so much for commenting and sharing!
i like how the explanation for holy = pearl is supposedly due to keeping religious references out, when there are a ton of other games that completely ignored this rule and did things as intended. even after the guideline was lifted, we still had games that followed it for no reason (kingdom hearts, mickey's holy = pearl). we called it ted woolsey syndrome. there was another localizer in line, story escapes me of why he didn't go through with it, but he was far far far more qualified and most likely would have given us a near perfect translation back then. bummer..
2 minutes, 30 minutes what’s the difference? lol 😂 keep on ff1, I will keep watching 🎉
I was happily playing a different game until i watched a some of your FF1 videos a few days back. Now im sitting on a completed save file with 4 White Wizards on the pixel remaster. Not sure what happened there.
That’s awesome! I was hoping my videos might inspire some folks to try out the game!
@TheReturnersHideout It was my first go around with the pixel remaster version. I was overall very impressed with what they did with it. The difficulty caught me off guard at first as it seems like it was ramped up a bit, except for Warmech whom I felt was heavily nerfed.
Level up to mid-high 20s at the peninsula, get the canoe, go to the Castle of Trials/Ordeals/Whatever and get the Ice Sword and Heal Staff, the Rat's Tail and the other goodies, THEN go to the Ice Cave and demolish everything. Then go get the fairy bottle and the money from Cardian Islands and stop in and say hello to Bahamut and get promoted. Then go clean out the Waterfall Cave followed by the Sea Shrine.
"Two minutes" + hours of set up time beforehand...
Why not Float Stone or just Float? Actually, I don't remember "floater" being a euphemism for bodily functions back then.
Original game called it "floater" which was hysterically funny at the time since it implied it was in a toilet.
@sarcasticguy4311 yeah I get why it's funny lol. I was just offering some alternatives. I also don't remember floater being commonly used back then but maybe it's just my age.
I must of missed it in the game - who tells you to go to the desert?
I think maybe one of the circle of sages maybe might mention it?
I remember being lost and desperate at the little river labyrinth. I could've sworn I explored every single path, and finally found the Ice Cavern after giving up and looking up the path. The slow transition for the map screen and the endless random encounters were my limit, apparently. Do you know who gives you the clue to use the Levistone at the desert? A prophet at Elfheim. The guys who very poorly prompt you to visit them later in the game. One of them gives you useless information about the Ice Cavern, and the other one gives you the sole clue in the entire game about where to use the Levistone. Thank goodness we moved on to better guidance systems, aye?
this is strange, correct me if i'm wrong, but this came out back in the 80's, why would they be worried about religious symbolism?
👏
Nah, you're supposed to grind to level 48 near Pravoca before even stepping foot near Elfland. Then, once you reach the ice cave, you can fight all the battles and still make it through and have the airship in two minutes. Uematsu told me this once via personal correspondence.
Hideout knowledge 💪
This title is misleading. I thought 2 min. from the start of the game.
No no, the guide is 2 minutes. That's all.
@@TheReturnersHideout I know. But you also knew :) You worded it very carefully so we can assume this, but can backtrack when told this. Anyway, I love your channel. It's all good, bro. We all got to make a living.
@ I’ve seen lots of others use a similar approach with titles and unfortunately (even medical articles are using this same method these days which is abhorrent) it takes a lot to catch attention. I’m just rolling with punches, as slimy as it sometimes feels.
Your incorrect about what you can't run from. At least in the NES version the undead pack on the trap tile is 100% runable, this was changed in the PR. Frost Dragons are also 100% runable. The only unrunable battles in the ice cave are wizards, frost giants and the eye.
I’ve tried to run from that pack several times, maybe I’ll run through that section again - frost dragons too. I’ll let you know what I find, I’ve got the game for NES loaded as we speak
Just checked it - you're right on the NES version! I guess my wires got crossed from playing the updated versions! Thank you for the correction!
You don't need to run away from anything. The monster health in Final Fantasy is laughably low.
@@sarcasticguy4311 I don't see how that's at all relevant to my comment
I played in a d&d campaign where the material plane and plane of air merged forcing the entire crust of the planet (and water) to start floating. It was a gigantic planet of floating islands with the core below the islands surround by impassible steam clouds. All the ships had what we called float stones to fly and sail the world.
At first I thought you meant speedrunning to the airship with a glitch.
I wish I was better at speedrunning in general! But nope - maybe one day!
So did I... I was like whhhaaaatttt.... lol
Nice
For once, the referee was actually on point. In this situation, it’s kind of sad. I I’m not a fan of show boaters.
The PC sprite changes-I wonder why they did that? So small but intentional changes.
And all this time I thought it was some super secret hot tip that only Nintendo power subscribers knew about.
Asking the real questions here. 😅
Yeah I would never play final fantasy one if I’d known before the story doesn’t make any sense, final fantasy II now that’s the one you want to play.
FF2's story is amazing, especially for the time!
They should either have used it in the newest remake of the first trilogy, or make a side game that uses it. Hate to see things go to waste.
Thank for more great content. The primitive design of FF1 creates such much mystery. Love that people are still playing this game and exploring it.
Thank you so much!
Have you tried hitting him harder? 😂
What game is this?
Final Fantasy 1 on NES
FF16 i think is the worst of the series compared to the rest!
Interesting! Some people would either say FF2 or Mystic Quest! I haven't had a chance to play 16 yet, and I've heard mixed reviews honestly.
And when dragon quest and final fantasy came together they the all time masterpiece chrono trigger! Which i think deserves a 2d 3d hd remake like they just did with DQ3
I agree wholeheartedly! CT is one of my favorite games of all time!
The Black Belt was renamed from Monk because monks are a religious thing, the same reason the Priest in Dragon Quest 3 became the Pilgrim in Dragon Warrior 3. Personally I prefer Clinic and House of Healing to Church, even as a very religious person whose favorite fantasy classes tend to be the likes of Paladins and Clerics. Why would Edge be a Fighter instead of a Thief? LOL, three FF4 characters and one FF9 character. I love PRO instead of FOG for the PROTECT spell, it's more intuitive and fits with the ProCape item! Bigger deal to me is DIA rather than HARM. The idea that the White Mage is summoning daylight to destroy the undead makes more sense to me, HARM always had a name that sounded like it should work on living monsters too. I can see it "feeling" close to DEI and having a religious connotation, but a name like SUN or RAY would have worked wonderfully. BLIP rather than RUSE also one I wish they'd gone with. Maybe BLUR as the weaker form of INVS. LAMP works as a "cure Blindness" spell only because DARK is "cause blindness" - I don't know what they were thinking with "BEHE" as a name. KAIZOKU spelled correctly. I think they may have changed the spelling in part to help people get the pronunciation right - spelled this way a lot of people in the 80s and 90s would have said "Kay-Zoku" instead of "Kye-Zoku"; I also heard that all monster names are actually a single text block somewhere with markers moved around to decide which to call, and shortening this monster's name by one letter allowed another one somewhere to have a name one letter longer for clarity, since the ROM was at its absolute limit. HEAL Potion to HEAL wounds and CURE potions to CURE poison makes sense to me. I think the name was changed to PURE because, for whatever reason, D&D referred to the HP healing spells as Cure Wounds instead of Heal Wounds and many other games like Final Fantasy followed suit; so the Pure spell purifies you of poison, and in the final release of this game the PURE POTION is a potion with the effect of the PURE spell (as with the SOFT POTION). Oh man, the S theme replacing the Ara suffix makes the DIA spell line even more adorable! "BUENOS DIAS, SENOR LICH!" - I wish they'd gone with that now, hahaha. GHOUL is an English word derived from GHUL, which is an Arabian word for a sort of pseudo-demonic monster that eats human corpses and practices sorcery, and is ambiguously possibly human in origin. This went from "cannibal sorcerer who might be part genie" to "rotting corpse animated by evil magic" and merged with the voodoo concept of a zombie (a drugged, brain-damaged slave) in pop culture. GHULE is an interesting spelling variant that is making wheels in my head turn. "I need better equipment for sure." _Ignores all the treasure chests he's right next to, including more free armor._ CRES and CREM for the single target heal spells are funny, makes me wonder what the S and M are supposed to stand for! As a game designer myself, I'm going out on a limb and saying the likely reason the treasure chests, pots, sacks, etc. in games like this have "random" numbers instead of perfectly round ones for money yields is pretty simple, actually. It'd be more suspiciously convenient for EVERY stockpile of money to be a perfectly round number or perfectly divisible by 5, by scrambling some of the digits you make a minimal impact on the game's mechanical balance but make the world feel more "real" and lived in, like that really is just how much money would be there. This only then calls into question how your party COUNTS such large stacks of coins so quickly while collecting it, such that they always have an exact count visible on the status screen (for your convenience) instead of a vague descriptor giving a ballpark in orders of magnitude and off by up to 10%; "roughly 1K", "about 5K", "a couple hundred", and so on. That would be more immersive, but to the point of going too far and not being convenient enough to the player. Someone in live chat mentioned WrWolf looks like "War Wolf", and it sounds rad. I agree - I used to have a character I called that, and later found there was a medieval trebuchet with that as its name AND a scrapped Pokemon from Gen 1 would have also been called Warwolf.
Oh my gosh thank you so much for the response! I love the insight here and you might be right! Thank you!
Good video but I had to leave halfway because the synthed out jazz music was really distracting. just some constructive criticism for you. I got nothing against the music itself. I just found it really busy amd mixed in loud. Really enjoying this bundle on Switch! Just got it yesterday All the best man!
This video is old and I've since learned how to better mix audio! Thanks so much!
The localizers were worried about something
Kevin is an important lesson of not knowing what you have until it's gone. This even includes any enemies and rivals.
Prelude, one of the most recognizable melody in all video games. 💪
You are 100% correct!
Is the rom online or is it being privately given out?
It's online in the cutting room floor page for FF1 - check the Prototype page for it!
Yes. Please go through it!
there is a pc remake of FF 1 called ff renaissance and has new classes to choose from and new mini quests for most of the classes. google it. fun stuff. the thief can find hidden treasures throughout the game. there is a blue mage that learns attacks from certain monsters in towns. a dancer that heals and buffs. she learns dances from dancers in towns. a dragoon that jumps OP a dark knight that can eventually eat all them bats in the game to up his stats. very very fun stuff
