As an absolute KH maniac I’ve wanted to get into FF so bad. It’s just so overwhelming and being an adult doesn’t give me much time to games during the week so I don’t wanna waste my time playing the wrong one 😭
Really enjoyed the video! While I'm an FF vet with every mainline title finished except for FF11 I still appreciated this and think X is the best starting point too and also my personal favourite with my top 5 being X,VII,VI,V then VIII with IX incredibly close. Also love your choices for favourite FFX tracks with two of mine being Someday the dream will end and Wandering Flame. Keep it up man! Sending good vibes ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it! I have yet to venture into FF8, but when I do, I'll make a video about it. Thank you so much for the kind words and for commenting!
Awesome video like always! FF8 was my first Final Fantasy, and although it is probably one of the weirdest to use as a franchise entry point it still captured me with the visuals (at the time) and soundtrack. If anyone here isn't a fan of any Final Fantasy then that is completely cool, but I still encourage you to search through the soundtracks.
I haven't met a lot of people (so far) that started with 8, but if it resonated with you then that's all that matters and I fully agree that the soundtrack is solid as always too! Thank you so much for hanging around and still being here and for commenting!
Oh I forgot about Vagrant Story! Dang, yeah I'm going to have to cover that game here. I just need to play through it again and tack it on to a video about FF12 or Tactics. Thank you so much!
X ain't a bad entry point. It does kinda feel like it's trying not to overwhelm players who're new to RPGs, while still building on the advancements made in prior games. And hey, no huge overworld to get lost in! That earns it an A from me. 👍
4 is the best starting point. Then X, then VII, then IX, and IX is only this low on the principle that you don’t want to start with the best game in the series, which IX is.
X was my second final fantasy, my first being VII so I was more used to the ATB battle system but the turn based strategy was rather easy to learn as was the sphere grid
Thank you for the video, the FF series is really confusing for me, I had no idea where to start in order to understand the franchise. Because the series has so many main standalone games, later you have spin-offs, remakes, spin-offs of spin-offs, prequels to some game etc.😵💫😵💫 But now I think the series is similar to Yakuza, you just need to find the story which interests you, and play it in chronological order, so you can later play the another time line. Like in Yakuza we have the main Kyriu storyline, later Yagami spin-off, and the new Kasuga storyline (there are also some spinoffs). And same as in Yakuza and FF, you need sometimes force yourself through first 2-3 chapters before the action begins. Best regards ✌️
I've got a whole video about how FF4 is the most important game in the series! It really built the foundation that really kicked off what RPGs COULD be!
After XV and XVI who were awful in their own special ways I've gained a newfound appreciation for XII. Such a gem in terms of design, exploration, customisation and hidden stuff.
After X. Don't argue or I say after 7 cause 8 was not good enough too if you don't like X. Or maybe you grown up ans starts to be stingy so "OH X IS STUPID GAME WITH STUPID CHARACTERS STUPID BLIZBALL BLA BLA BLA" And you know what. If Bartz was introduced in PS2 era he would be like Tidus or Vaan.
Honestly my first game is FF7 remake part one on steam. The action based combat + the slow motion that allows me to do the commands for different characters is a nice mix. Hopefully more are like that otherwise I was spoiled lol.
Every video on the subject: Let me dance around the answer for ten minutes for the viewer retention TRH: I respect your intelligence and time. Heres the answer immediately and lets go over the reasons why and some other information you may need. Bravo.
Not a comment I should make, but whatever. - Your favorite track: I hate it. - 2nd track: To me, it's between "okay" and "Sure, I like it, but it's nothing special." -3rd track: Maybe not godlike, but my God, is it amazing! Maybe still interesting for you, because I've always almost exclusively been listening to videogame music.
FFX will always have a special place in my heart, and for the longest time it was my favorite FF game. It however has been dethroned by FFXIV, and more specifically Shadowbringers. I never expected an MMO to be this good, let alone top FFX for me, but all aspects of it are amazing. Man, what a ride...
I’m still decently new to it but I’m blown away by it! I just wish I had more time to sink into it, but maybe it’s a dish better simmered over time than pressured cooked all at once! Thanks so much for commenting!
My first Final Fantasy game that I will play all the way through will be VII Remake (I have VII on Switch and gave it a few hours, but I just couldnt keep going. I am aware that I will lose out on so much stuff that VII Remake will leave out, and well...just think of me as a new comer exploring this version of the world that the Remake directors wanted for new comers....i guess.
So like I said in the video, if you liked the turn-based battle systems - you can look to the classics like 4 or 6, but if you wanted something faster paced you could go to 7 remake, 13, 15 or 16. 12 was its own weird beast and there are two MMOs! Thanks for commenting!
And that’s okay! For me personally, turn-based combat makes sense from a ‘gaming’ aspect; checkers, go-fish, even D&D! But, take the gaming out of the equation and .. well, no one who’s ever fought anyone said “okay I’ve thrown my punch, now it’s your turn!” So I can understand a disconnect, especially when more and more games are action-oriented! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
I think final fantasy 6 which was named ff3 in the us. may have some of the best music but I am very bais with it kinda being my real introduction to the series, even if I didn't quite understand ff1 when i was younger and played it first. I was just too young to really understand what was going on. And i didnt care too much about ff4 which was called ff2 in the states when I was younger. I kinda wish we would have gotten the harder version but we got a nerfed version of 4 instead which imo would have been more fun I like challenging games esp turn based rpgs. I'm a fan of hard puzzles.
The 3D remake of FF4 is definitely more challenging than the other versions, if you haven't checked that out, and I fully agree that FF6 has the some of the best music ever created!
This is a wonderful video. Personally I’d recommend anyone new to Final Fantasy to start with FF7 Remake. It has a good mix of ATB turn based and action based combat. It’s my favorite combat system in not just any FF game, but any video game for that matter. The graphics, presentation and music are also top tier. Made me fall in love with the series and work my way backwards. My favorite tracks from the game are Collapsed expressway, Aerith’s theme and on our way. There’s a sweet melancholy feeling to the game’s soundtrack that I can’t explain. I love it. Best soundtrack in any game I’ve played and I’ve been playing games since the PS2 era. Also played X and I loved it
Thanks so much! I debated bringing up 7R in the video and I kinda wish I did because it does blend ATB and action fairly well, and I’m glad it resonated with you and other people also! Thank you for commenting!

While I agree that it isn't an ideal leveling system, it IS essentially a visual representation of the linear ability-learning that would happen with leveling up anyway - but saying you wouldn't start with FFX because of the sphere grid dismisses the story, music, and ease of access from a distribution standpoint. There's other people that adore the sphere grid, I'm personally more indifferent to it! Thank you for commenting!
@@TheReturnersHideout FF7 remake did a fantastic job of combining the 2 systems but the greatness of FF and what players loved was turned based combat...FF16 was very dissapointing...its only getting worse
I used to love Final Fantasy but as I grew up my views on the scantily dressed women & blasphemy have changed. I haven't played any newer ones because I don't know of any that are clean of that. Guess if you know any new ones without the cleavage, short shorts, & blasphemy then plz let me know.
Eh well, I mean gaming as a whole is sort of in the same category if you think of it in those terms. You could also look at it as this is the game's world - not my own. What games do you play that don't have those things that are newer?
@@TheReturnersHideout yt is dumb so I'm having to break up my reply. I dont play newer games anymore because of that. Newest thing I played is halo 4. Halo 4 had good multi-player but got a little too graphic with Cortana, so it was the last halo I played.
@@TheReturnersHideout Now I just play LOTRO & 360/WiiU or older games. I've never even played a xbox one or ps4. I'm also disabled & can't afford newer things even if I did find clean ones.
I'm so sorry to hear that my friend! I'll tell you what, I'll keep an eye out for any cleaner games that exist that are in the same spectrum of RPGs or anything. Unfortunately, we're just at a point where most things have SOMETHING, you know? For me, I don't swear on my channel, and it's REALLY tough to find anything that doesn't have that in it, you know? So, I definitely understand in that capacity!
If you stop thinking of the natural human body as a taboo, it stops being a bad thing. It’s nothing to hate and nothing to get excited about. Just ignore it and enjoy the story and a different world.

I started with 8 only because I heard Faye Wong sung the theme song for the game and I am the biggest Faye Wong Simp
This is exactly the video I was looking for! Just started FFX a few days ago
Thank you so much, when you get it done I’d love to hear what you think of FFX!

great topic. i hope it leads a lot of people to final fantasy, and subscribers your channel. ps i like the new haircut and beard
I hope so too! And also, thanks! I’m just trying out new things and seeing what sticks!
og ff7 or ffx would be my recommendations. ff7 wins in story and the leveling and minmaxing is more comprehendable.
