I happened on to your long form videos documenting your epic Canada trip and it was so fun to see someone enjoying some areas I'm quite familiar with. I love the Northern California coast and have turned left at Florence from my Veneta Oregon home many times to head your way. Been over Hwy 299 (a faster road) and Hwy 36 (really curvy!), and almost always end up in Weaverville for the night. Tooling around NorCal on a motorcycle is absolutely fantastic! My dad was born in central BC and grew up in Quesnel and his dad live much of his life on South Pender Island in the Gulf Islands so I've covered some of the ground you did on your Canada trip, too. Keep up the nice work! Highly enjoyable.
Thank you so much for the comment and the kind words! It is always fun to hear from people and get their reactions to the videos. Northern California is an absolute playground for people who ride motorcycles. But I gotta tell you, I am really wanting to ride north again. You can expect more adventures going up into Canada soon. Thanks again for watching! 😎🍻
Thanks again for what you do! Another amazing series. It was tough, but I waited to watch until you posted all the videos... They're just great to watch all in one go on a lazy afternoon. Well worth the wait! I'm also falling in love with the area you call home. I saw my first redwoods this last September in Crescent City, California. It was mind-blowing. Everything about NorCal seems magical to me. I'm itching to return, as I'm planning to hike the Lost Coast Trail in April or May. And maybe by motorcycle sometime in the next couple years... Eureka sounds like a nice final stop on a cross country ride.
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words, and I have to admit, Northern California is indeed “magical“! 😎 You are absolutely going to love that hike on the lost coast, and it’s really fun to do it on a motorcycle as well. Thank you so much for watching and I really really appreciate the comments. It’s always fun to interact with people that watch the channel and I am Always grateful to hear what people think of it. Safe rides and we’ll see you on the next adventure 🍻😎
Late to comment on this one. Another great series! Loved your camera perspectives. Always enjoy your lunch stops and looks like Eureka has some interesting lounges 😉
It’s never too late to comment😆 I’m glad you enjoyed the series, that spot for lunch was so quiet and peaceful. I hung out there for about an hour and yes, Eureka is a fantastic place to visit with interesting places to see. I’m glad you could ride along, the next adventure is just around the corner. Happy holidays,…😎🍻
I could pay to watch your video at the cinema!!
Thanks!! 😎🍻
Sensational footage Forrest! The Mud Runner seems to be doing you well. I try to see your mileage just for my OCD. I'm always curious how much other enthusiasts move about. Cannot get enough of those redwoods. Years ago building houses, one could get pine and ceader all day long. Red wood decks were for those who had money. Acquiring board foot in finish material now a day is obsolete. We've obliterated our resources. Thank God for individuals like yourself and Ranger Steve. I Pray your sister is well in Smithers this holiday season. 🙏
I’m glad you enjoyed the series! I have roughly somewhere around 40,000 miles plus on the bike so far. I had the instrument cluster replaced under warranty, but it doesn’t reflect the actual mileage now 😝 I absolutely love this bike and I know someday I will wear it out so I’m actually considering buying another one and just stash it away in the garage until needed🤔😂 Thanks for the prayers and stay safe, my friend! Thanks for watching! 😎🍻
Nice, you never disappoint forrest always laid back. Great viewing mate.
Hey, thanks very much! I’m trying to stay consistent with that Sunday morning with your coffee kind of vibe, if you know what I mean 😆 Thanks for watching, and I always appreciate the comments! 😎🍻
What’s the namebrand and style of that helmet?
I am currently wearing a helmet made by Bell and it is their adventure series. It’s pretty good but to be honest it’s a little noisy. It’s good for the price, but I might be getting something different soon. Thanks for watching and I always appreciate the comments! 😎🍻
The algo suggested, glad it did. Nice flow and informative, I enjoyed a lot.
Hey, that’s great! Well welcome to the channel and thanks for subscribing! I’m kind of going for that Sunday morning with your coffee kind of vibe 😎 more to come…..
Always enjoy seeing the Redwoods. Yep. You are not the only one who has forgotten to fasten your helmet. I used to fly an open air ultralight aircraft. I forgot to put on my seat belt/shoulder harness one flight. I could look down all around the seat that I'm setting on and see the ground way down below. As soon as I discovered the fact, I immediately placed the harness on with much embarrassment. Have forgot to fasten the helmet while on the motorcycle as well. Yep you fit right in brother.
It happens to the best of us! 😅 I’m glad you enjoyed the ride through the redwoods, now that it’s winter time I’ll be doing a lot more riding through the redwoods in the area. I have a request from another viewer to check out an area of the redwoods in southern Humboldt, soon as I get a break in the weather I’ll be heading that way so standby 😎🍻
Thanks for the trip, I am gonna have to hit Madrones in 2027 when I do my retirement tour on the bike. Good riding, good food and good beer are the way to use a good day.......👍👍
Fantastic! Next time I’m in, I will tell them you’re coming! 😎🍻 “Good riding, good food, and good beer…..” it’s a way of life 😎🍺 Always good to hear from ya my friend, see you in 2027!
I just picked up a 2023 Himi with only 180 miles on it. This is my second Himi, I regrettably sold my 2021….that has been rectified. I looked at the 450 but, that doesn’t do it for me. How many miles do you have on yours? Love the videos!
Sweet news Brother. The 452 doesn't do anything for me either. 22 Himalayan 11,600 miles in Vegas. Ride Safe! Forrest may spring for a 452 from what I have watched.
I have roughly somewhere over 40,000 miles on my 2021 411 Himalayan. I know if I ever sold the Mudhorn I would regret it immediately so I don’t think that will be happening. I am considering buying a 2023 for 411 Himalayan That has 12 miles on it for $3500 and just put it in the garage for later, lol, or when my daughter is finally ready to start riding around with me. But I have to admit I am looking at the 450 as well, I love the looks and the charm of the 411 but it is really difficult to make those long distance trips on it. The bike does fine. I just don’t have enough free time to do it that way if you know what I mean. I think that’s where the 450 will solve that long distance getting there to start the journey problem. Congratulations on your second Himalayan 👍 thanks for watching!😎🍻
I’m definitely considering it, but I’ll never get rid of the 411 😎🍻 I absolutely love riding around the redwoods on the 411 Himalayan, it is perfect!
@NorthboundMotorcycleADV Enjoy! I am still riding every day. You are a testament as well as a North West Advocate for Royal Enfield. Keep up the great work. Other than my fork gaiters disintegrating...I have had not one problem. No wonder...Built like a Gun! Boy that pizza looked awful tasty
Thanks for the biology lesson. Do the trees only clone themselves if they are cut.. or break off? Or do they clone regardless? That area never gets old. Thanks for sharing.
Redwood trees will sprout from the cut stumps or roots. Logging (mostly) harvests the stem, then the original tree will come back from the root stock. That said, some of the timber companies are actually cloning the trees, starting with just few cells. They are looking to optimize the value of the harvest. (Fewer limbs, better growth.)
Redwood trees sprout from dormant buds, called burls that are usually around the main stem of the tree just under the soil line, although it is not uncommon to see them sprouting up higher in the tree as well. If the tree is damaged, it sends a hormone down to the burl, waking it up and sprouting another clone. That’s how we get the famous redwood circles, in fact that gives me an idea for my next video. I happen to know where there’s some great examples of this and I will ride out there as soon as possible and film and discuss. Thanks for the inspiration! 😎🍻
@@yowser8780 That’s so cool. Like crustaceans that grow new limbs when they loose one. I learned something. This explains why when I cut an alder or cottonwood down, new shoots come out the stump. Same idea I suppose. Thanks.
Nice vid, Forrest! Love the information while checking out the scenery!
Thanks 👍 more to come 😎🍻
I look forward to every one of your videos!
I appreciate you saying that, it really means a lot, thank you for riding along! 😎🍻
As a fellow Himalayan 411 rider, every time I see that view over the clocks of the bike, I feel a lovely calm descend over me. It is a view I know so well. Its the best bike in the world.
I absolutely agree, yes it might not be the fastest bike out there, or it might not live up to something else that other people want or think they need. But for those of us in the know, these bikes are fantastic! I recommend them to everyone! Really glad you’re enjoying the series, thank you very much for the comments and for watching! 😎🍻
If in doubt…. BEER! 🍺
Words to live by my friend! 😎🍻
Hi Forres Luved this video man. Gotta admit, guilty, put my gloves on and left my keys in my pocket; hate it when that happens. I felt quite at home with all the road works, just like England haha; mind you, your waiting times are a lot longer than in England. The last dirt road was just awesome. The nearest we have is called a forest drive. There is a nice one in Kielder , North East England. Its owned by the Forestry Commission with a voluntary charge of £3. Its about eleven miles long and brings one out just before the Scottish Boarder. I usually turn round and do the route in reverse. Its a couple of hours ride from where I live; through some of the most beautiful scenery the Dales have to offer. Absolutely loving this little series. Exactly what my wifey Ann and I love to ride in and through; thank you Forrest; it was real good to see you so happy. Ride safe Neil from England.
Thanks Neil, this sure has been a fun series! I think the best is yet to come riding through these majestic views and then ending up in old growth redwoods is something special. I’m glad you could ride along my friend, stay safe out there and see you on the next ride! 😎🍻
Another great video! Thanks for the adventure.
Thanks! 🙏 and I always appreciate the comments! Thanks for riding along 😎🍻
Forrest coming through with the wisdom “if you wanna make god laugh tell him your plans” I can definitely relate to that moment @25:55 riding just gives you a euphoria like nothing else. What an incredible area to ride in, I watch your channel from SoCal and dream of getting out there to ride those roads on my scrambler to check out the trees, soak up the history & see the forgotten spots on the backroads! Maybe someday there will be a Northbound Motorcycle ADV group ride!?
A Northbound Motorcycle ADV group ride ya say 🤔 I like the sound of that,… I think I’m gonna do that…🤔 Maybe next year, (maybe make it an Annual Redwood Ride) Let me give that some thought…😎🍻 Thanks again for watching!!
@ I’m so down for a Northbound Moto ADV Redwoods ride!
Nice series the Lost Coast has such amazing scenery and nice roads without crazy traffic. I jsut traded my 411 for the new 450 and squeezed in 100 miles before I had to leave town for the holiday looking forward to getting to know it better its very impressive. Once again great chill videos when do you start the Pan America Highway series? =P
I too am looking to trade in my 411 for the new 450. Maybe in a month or so. Mostly so that I can start a Panama Highway series 😎🍻 Thanks for watching! Hey congratulations on the new bike by the way, what color did you get?
@@NorthboundMotorcycleADV I went with the black and gold. My 411 was the same as your Lake Blue...loved it but the new one was too much improved.
I just found your channel. You live in a great area! I live on the central Oregon coast near Waldport, Oregon and love riding down your way. I have a friend that lives in Santa Cruz that I visit whenever I get a chance. I ride a BMW G310 GS and believe it’s the best PCH bike out there but I’ve yet to ride a Himi. I’m really enjoying your videos and looking forward to spring 👍😎
Welcome to the channel! I have a good friend that lives up in Coos Bay and I ride up to see him as often as I can and love that stretch of Highway one going up the coast. Thanks for the kind words and I really appreciate the comments! 😎🍻
My favorite spot in the Redwoods? Anywhere you take us Forrest!
😎Thanks for watching 😎🍻
That motor sounds like it is coming apart, very noisey, louder than a dry clutch ducati.
I have to admit it does have its moments, and is a bit of a rattle trap as well, and is not very fast either,… But I sure love the damn thing 😝 Thanks for watching 😎🍻 (Thinking about trading in my 411 for the new 450 🤔)
Good stuff man! Great ride and great video! Really liked seeing that old logging equipment!
Glad you enjoyed it, there’s something about old logging equipment that just draws you in. You never know what you’re gonna find in the back roads of Humboldt County my friend! 😎🍻
What a ride....👍👍
I am glad you enjoyed it! The views in this part of Humboldt County are really unparallel! Thanks again for watching and I always appreciate the comments! 😎🍻

Thanks 👍 Humboldt County is amazing! Thanks for watching and I really appreciate the comment!🍻😎
@@NorthboundMotorcycleADV look after those points, keep your wife happy😉😄
@ that is the trick isn’t it…😎
Man, what a cool ride! I don’t even know where to begin! Thanks for taking us on such a great ride. Sorry there was a six week delay. But man looks like you went out on the perfect day. Really enjoyed all the information too on the route, and of course the trees, and now it all makes sense How your name is so tight into what you do! Great video, Forrest! One of your best ever!
Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate the comment, this ride is so much fun and I’m really glad I was able to come back and finish it. Thanks for hanging in there with me.🍻😎
Fun video. I added a couple of more roads for my next trip down. “If you wanna make god laugh, tell him what your plans are. “. Gotta keep the wife happy😊. Btw, you left out a name … David Douglas was where the name for the Douglas fir came from. Menzies was the original discover however. Mr Douglas has an interesting history. I encourage your viewers to read on how he lived and died. My previous log home had quite a few springboard notched Douglas firs on my property. What was cool, is that while, they harvested the Doug firs , they left the giant cedars. I miss that place. It was my favorite home. ❤ Thanks for sharing.
He Griz, you got any links to any good videos or articles on Douglas maybe?
@ I can’t recall where I read some of the accounts about Douglas. I believe there is really good accounting of his time in the PacNW in the book “River of the West “. He was an eccentric person for sure. Use to keep pets ( rodents, frogs?) in his pocket. Got partially blinded from climbing the volcanoes here in the PacNW. He died crossing the island of Hawaii… wanting to climb the volcanoes there. As I recall He died in a pit that was setup to catch cattle. Btw, River of the West is a good read in its own right (history of the Columbia River). I wish I still had that book… got lost a few moves ago I suspect. Hope I piqued your interest.
@@RubiKonAdventures Just watched this one here! Fantastic man!! Much appreciated. A good buddy of mine has owned and maintained a Fraiser Fir Farm since I can remember. We go every year and pick us one out. He recently retired and we luckily found another farm close by. We actually got one today. Love the history lesson this evening buddy! th-cam.com/video/1I8zfxLXt_8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6xPg5qSN69ptwy0H
@ That’s awesome. I skimmed through that a bit. I’m going to make some popcorn and watch that. Thanks! Off topic , but read about Jonathan Thorn and the Tonquin (the ship he was captain of). I’m a big history buff on the PacNW and points north. Cheers ~GrizzLee
@RubiKonAdventures will do! Thanks man. Really enjoy your channel as well man. Appreciate what you do!
Fantastic scenery. Makes me want to come and live in Northern Californi A.
It’s kind of funny, most people don’t realize just how rural Northern California is… I’ve lived a lot of places in my life, but since I moved here 15 years ago, I can truly say this is home. I’m never leaving Humboldt! 😎🍻 Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it! 🍻
Great video! That’s a great ride!! I’ve taken that to Ruth lake a couple times Keep up the great work.
Oh, that’s a fantastic way to go to Ruth Lake! Thanks for the comment, always appreciate it!🍻😎
The book she wrote was called Legacy of Luna. That was back in the day when George Bush was selling the redwoods to the Japanese and we weren’t getting any money from it. Seven commercials. Her name was Julia butterfly hill
Thanks for the comment, and thanks for letting everyone know the name. I just couldn’t remember when I was out there that day😝😎🍻

Thanks for another fantastic, inspiring episode! I took a few days to ride up to Fort Bragg and Eureka from the Bay Area back in October and it was so spiritually renewing. I didn’t want to go home. Usal Road is definitely on my list for next time!! 🙏
Isn’t it amazing what a good ride will do for the soul! On my trip to Canada, I felt the same way, I truly didn’t want to come home and wanted the ride to continue for a bit longer. But going home leads to looking forward and planning the next trip. And it sounds like Usal Road might be yours. Thanks for the comment and safe rides! 😎🍻
Another great video! I am from Ukiah so I ride over to Fort Bragg a lot. I love eating fish n chips in the harbor. A typical ride is going thru the Anderson Valley HWY 128 to Ft. Bragg and then back out HWY 20 to Willits or in reverse order. It is a great ride both directions!
Anderson Valley has been on my radar for sometime and I totally plan on doing a video down in that area. The loop you described sounds fantastic and I will definitely be looking into that one. Thanks for the suggestion! 😎🍻
love love love this toooooo. Your music is soooo satisfying. LOVE IT!🥰🥰🥰
I’m glad you enjoy the music! I like to find sounds that fit the scenery. It’s getting to be about time to ride up to Canada again…🤔 gonna have to put a plan together 😎❤️
Your Voice, My Brother is Soooo Relaxing to listen to. I love the Fall colors... always learning. Wow Forrest...I can't believe this is all new for you. How COOL to learn and see something You haven't explored before. YAY. This is INSANELY GORGOUS.
I am so happy to share these experiences with you! Those trees were unlike anything I’ve ever seen before and it was a perfect day for filming 😎 Miss ya! ❤️🍻😎
Those trees are something else, that ride to Fort Bragg was nice too, it was the type of road I like to be on. Catch ya next time. Enjoy that stout.
That stretch of Highway one is pretty amazing and I recommend it to everyone, wait till you see what’s coming in the next episode. 🍻😎 (The stout was great 👍)
Man what a great video! So informative and really covers a lot. We have a similar tree up here on the Oregon coast called the Octopus Tree. Looked like you had the perfect weather as well! Can’t wait to come down and ride Usal Road in the future! Excellent editing , too! You’ve really come a long way as a Moto-Vlogger! Keep up the good work Forrest!
Thank you so much for the kind words, I have to admit I was watching some of my early films the other day and had to laugh at myself, riding with one hand and filming with my iPhone in the other. 😂 But what I have found is a love of motorcycle touring and being able to film it properly is an incredible hobby that I have discovered in my 50s. In my humble opinion, everyone should write a motorcycle! Thanks again for watching 🍻😎
😉38😉 Nice video Forrest. How about those candelabra trees. Neat as can be. Quick story about clam chowder. We were in Prince Rupert in August and found Manhattan clam chowder at a beautiful establishment like you found. Talk about a fish out of water. I didn't think anyone even heard of it. Nothing like a nice beverage and a wsrm meal after a splendid day. Hallelujah 🙌 Ride Safe...you must be getting up there on miles after your rebuild. I just hit 11,000 self maintained no drip miles. Hallelujah again!
Man, I got to tell you those trees are out of this world, I’ve seen a lot of redwoods, but these were definitely something special! I will definitely be going back to look at those again in the future. As far as clam chowder, the North Coast brewery has one of the best on the north coast. In fact I might just do a new series and ride from one clam chowder establishment to the next giving reviews 😂 when it’s good, it’s great! Thank you as always for watching and I love the comments, I’m really glad I can share my adventures with you and that you are enjoying them so much. Take care and safe rides my friend. 🍻😎
This was an awesome stumble! My honeymoon was camping in Ft Bragg (I'm originally from Sonoma County). I've only visited the redwwods on Hwy 1, and they were magnificent. I'd LOVE to see the Enchanted Forest! Love the bike, too - one of my favorite TH-camrs, @HannahLeeDuggan also has a Royal Enfield. Very cool motorcycles. If I wasn't 70, I think I'd get myself one. Please keep up the wonderful videos! 🥰☺️
Welcome to the channel and thank you so much for the kind words! I absolutely love this motorcycle and the fact that I can film it and share it with everyone is an added bonus! Thanks again for watching and I really appreciate the comment🍻😎
Another awesome video Sir! Can you explore the Jordan Creek bridge in a video someday? It’s on an abandoned original alignment of the Redwood Highway. I have some pictures of it if you need them.
Jordan Creek bridge you say 🤔 I will look into that for sure 👍 Glad you liked the video and really appreciate the suggestion! Thanks for watching 🍻😎
Thank you for sharing another great video. I appreciate you posting this! What month(s) would you recommend? Thanks. Brent
If I'm allowed to butt in, my favorite time of year in northern California is the fall - Sep-Oct. Less fog, warm, fall colors. ☺️
I would have to agree completely!September through October is still warm and you get the fall colors, as far as the fog goes well that’s really a hit or miss. I would even say into November if you can swing it before the rain come. Once the winter rains really start they kind of don’t quit until spring. 😎🍻

Great video Northbound. Lovely scenery and coastal light. Really enjoyed the Redwoods and the run down to Ft Bragg Cheers man
Glad you enjoyed it, and the light coming through the trees was pretty spectacular, thanks for watching 🍻😎
