Forrest coming through with the wisdom “if you wanna make god laugh tell him your plans” I can definitely relate to that moment @25:55 riding just gives you a euphoria like nothing else. What an incredible area to ride in, I watch your channel from SoCal and dream of getting out there to ride those roads on my scrambler to check out the trees, soak up the history & see the forgotten spots on the backroads! Maybe someday there will be a Northbound Motorcycle ADV group ride!?
A Northbound Motorcycle ADV group ride ya say 🤔 I like the sound of that,… I think I’m gonna do that…🤔 Maybe next year, (maybe make it an Annual Redwood Ride) Let me give that some thought…😎🍻 Thanks again for watching!!
It’s kind of funny, most people don’t realize just how rural Northern California is… I’ve lived a lot of places in my life, but since I moved here 15 years ago, I can truly say this is home. I’m never leaving Humboldt! 😎🍻 Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it! 🍻
Man, what a cool ride! I don’t even know where to begin! Thanks for taking us on such a great ride. Sorry there was a six week delay. But man looks like you went out on the perfect day. Really enjoyed all the information too on the route, and of course the trees, and now it all makes sense How your name is so tight into what you do! Great video, Forrest! One of your best ever!
Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate the comment, this ride is so much fun and I’m really glad I was able to come back and finish it. Thanks for hanging in there with me.🍻😎
Glad you enjoyed it, there’s something about old logging equipment that just draws you in. You never know what you’re gonna find in the back roads of Humboldt County my friend! 😎🍻
Fun video. I added a couple of more roads for my next trip down. “If you wanna make god laugh, tell him what your plans are. “. Gotta keep the wife happy😊. Btw, you left out a name … David Douglas was where the name for the Douglas fir came from. Menzies was the original discover however. Mr Douglas has an interesting history. I encourage your viewers to read on how he lived and died. My previous log home had quite a few springboard notched Douglas firs on my property. What was cool, is that while, they harvested the Doug firs , they left the giant cedars. I miss that place. It was my favorite home. ❤ Thanks for sharing.
@ I can’t recall where I read some of the accounts about Douglas. I believe there is really good accounting of his time in the PacNW in the book “River of the West “. He was an eccentric person for sure. Use to keep pets ( rodents, frogs?) in his pocket. Got partially blinded from climbing the volcanoes here in the PacNW. He died crossing the island of Hawaii… wanting to climb the volcanoes there. As I recall He died in a pit that was setup to catch cattle. Btw, River of the West is a good read in its own right (history of the Columbia River). I wish I still had that book… got lost a few moves ago I suspect. Hope I piqued your interest.
@@RubiKonAdventures Just watched this one here! Fantastic man!! Much appreciated. A good buddy of mine has owned and maintained a Fraiser Fir Farm since I can remember. We go every year and pick us one out. He recently retired and we luckily found another farm close by. We actually got one today. Love the history lesson this evening buddy! th-cam.com/video/1I8zfxLXt_8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6xPg5qSN69ptwy0H
@ That’s awesome. I skimmed through that a bit. I’m going to make some popcorn and watch that. Thanks! Off topic , but read about Jonathan Thorn and the Tonquin (the ship he was captain of). I’m a big history buff on the PacNW and points north. Cheers ~GrizzLee
Hi Forres Luved this video man. Gotta admit, guilty, put my gloves on and left my keys in my pocket; hate it when that happens. I felt quite at home with all the road works, just like England haha; mind you, your waiting times are a lot longer than in England. The last dirt road was just awesome. The nearest we have is called a forest drive. There is a nice one in Kielder , North East England. Its owned by the Forestry Commission with a voluntary charge of £3. Its about eleven miles long and brings one out just before the Scottish Boarder. I usually turn round and do the route in reverse. Its a couple of hours ride from where I live; through some of the most beautiful scenery the Dales have to offer. Absolutely loving this little series. Exactly what my wifey Ann and I love to ride in and through; thank you Forrest; it was real good to see you so happy. Ride safe Neil from England.
Thanks Neil, this sure has been a fun series! I think the best is yet to come riding through these majestic views and then ending up in old growth redwoods is something special. I’m glad you could ride along my friend, stay safe out there and see you on the next ride! 😎🍻
I happened on to your long form videos documenting your epic Canada trip and it was so fun to see someone enjoying some areas I'm quite familiar with. I love the Northern California coast and have turned left at Florence from my Veneta Oregon home many times to head your way. Been over Hwy 299 (a faster road) and Hwy 36 (really curvy!), and almost always end up in Weaverville for the night. Tooling around NorCal on a motorcycle is absolutely fantastic! My dad was born in central BC and grew up in Quesnel and his dad live much of his life on South Pender Island in the Gulf Islands so I've covered some of the ground you did on your Canada trip, too. Keep up the nice work! Highly enjoyable.
Thank you so much for the comment and the kind words! It is always fun to hear from people and get their reactions to the videos. Northern California is an absolute playground for people who ride motorcycles. But I gotta tell you, I am really wanting to ride north again. You can expect more adventures going up into Canada soon. Thanks again for watching! 😎🍻
I am glad you enjoyed it! The views in this part of Humboldt County are really unparallel! Thanks again for watching and I always appreciate the comments! 😎🍻
I just found your channel. You live in a great area! I live on the central Oregon coast near Waldport, Oregon and love riding down your way. I have a friend that lives in Santa Cruz that I visit whenever I get a chance. I ride a BMW G310 GS and believe it’s the best PCH bike out there but I’ve yet to ride a Himi. I’m really enjoying your videos and looking forward to spring 👍😎
Welcome to the channel! I have a good friend that lives up in Coos Bay and I ride up to see him as often as I can and love that stretch of Highway one going up the coast. Thanks for the kind words and I really appreciate the comments! 😎🍻
I have to admit it does have its moments, and is a bit of a rattle trap as well, and is not very fast either,… But I sure love the damn thing 😝 Thanks for watching 😎🍻 (Thinking about trading in my 411 for the new 450 🤔)
The book she wrote was called Legacy of Luna. That was back in the day when George Bush was selling the redwoods to the Japanese and we weren’t getting any money from it. Seven commercials. Her name was Julia butterfly hill
Nice series the Lost Coast has such amazing scenery and nice roads without crazy traffic. I jsut traded my 411 for the new 450 and squeezed in 100 miles before I had to leave town for the holiday looking forward to getting to know it better its very impressive. Once again great chill videos when do you start the Pan America Highway series? =P
I too am looking to trade in my 411 for the new 450. Maybe in a month or so. Mostly so that I can start a Panama Highway series 😎🍻 Thanks for watching! Hey congratulations on the new bike by the way, what color did you get?

My favorite spot in the Redwoods? Anywhere you take us Forrest!
😎Thanks for watching 😎🍻
That motor sounds like it is coming apart, very noisey, louder than a dry clutch ducati.

@@NorthboundMotorcycleADV I went with the black and gold. My 411 was the same as your Lake Blue...loved it but the new one was too much improved.
