Imagine you have an art buddy who went to school for design but became a painter instead, so now she's staring out of windows watching the world and attempting to make her ordinary life something wild and wonderful. that's the vibe.
chill and artful winter routine
Still chugging along over here! I'm enjoying working on this painting in moments of free time, while also soaking up the outdoors, keeping my life balanced and productive in a slower pace. I don't think the creative life has to look any certain way and sometimes all it requires is having our eyes open and bodies ready to experience without expectation. We can approach creating without desperation while still striving for the highest level of art possible.
Maybe I'll write more here later, right now I need to change out of my pajamas.

how I plan to thrive in dark winter days
มุมมอง 3.4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Oh the short days of winter, we always forget how adjusting to them can be. It feels like the lights turning out before a show. Except you are the show and this time around it will be different. As you glide across the stage with all the energy you need... one can hope. This time of year is filled with giving, and it's easy to burn out. I'm planning ahead this time to stay on top of the routine...
honest look inside my art life

Here's a look into my creative life lately, things that visually inspired me, moments I don't want to forget and plenty of silly time in the studio. My best work gets done with some dancing. So don't mind me being a weirdo for a bit with you. Every part of my day and energy ends up in the piece being made, so cultivating a sense of beauty and filling my cup with that excitement is essential. Vi...

I promise I'm alive, and my summer is wrapping up over here. Which means it's time to bust out the brushes and paints. And the best way to drive in is head first with a quick painting, right? I will definitely be back to my larger painting soon, but the intermission was needed. I had a great time trying out, and also painting the Ben Q e-reading lamp. Coming from a design education I love a wel...

Wrap up of some moments from my July. My schedule looked different this month so studio painting has been on pause. Hope you all are enjoying the summer or some outdoor time lately.

Taking my time, soaking up the sun and working through some changes in my health. Here's the June recap of what I was able to film. I might be back in a month to do a July vlog, since the pace of things is different around here. Hope all is well with anyone watching. And you find some enjoyment and piece in this slice of my daily life!
slow, balanced living & painting prep

This painting of a personal scene from my life is getting started. A good plan and growing excitement for a piece is the best feeling. So that along with attempts to better my days, and enjoy simple responsibilities, I'm doing pretty well. I hope that same goes for you. Warm weather and summer approaching means a seasonal change, in our environments but also internally and I'm working on accept...
finding inspiration in personal life
มุมมอง 3K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
My body and mind need an overhaul at the moment. For me that means accepting the slowness. Allowing moments to speak for themselves. And of course soaking up some sunshine. If you’re new, I’m a 25 y/o painter currently in between pieces, planning for the next one. I live and work with a lot of reflection and love for the flow state. The course I talk about in the vlog was a weekly lecture/demo ...

I have a long vlog for you all! Grab a coffee and settle in. I was feeling energized with all the good weather. Which was much needed, especially for finishing this painting. I had a lot of fun hanging out with my family as well! I really do enjoy when my life and art feel balanced and purposeful to each other. Hopefully you'll enjoy that experience through this videos as well. :)
difficult days get better with painting & time
มุมมอง 5K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
More honest, real and sort of slow days over here in the studio. Investigating new books, figuring out art class plans and enjoying spring. It's been good to put my mind on other things and I'm doing alright. Cheers to sunshine and flowers being in bloom.
artist adventures, peaceful vibes & life's realities
มุมมอง 5K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
No explanation, just vibes in this art vlog. Lot's of emotional ups and downs recently so it felt right to share something simple but beautiful still. Painting progress in the studio of course but also bits of life lately. Home projects, pet troubles, and my silly little plants. Hopefully this video brings you some peace or bit of wonder for all the aspects of life as a creative individual.
productive painting & calm memories in this art vlog
มุมมอง 3.7K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
I'm always relearning things from my past. what I love, who I am, what calms me and bring me joy. The slow change of seasons and a trip home can definitely do that for a person. I put a few bits in this video about myself, but I'll fill you in on the blanks here. I know nobody writes in these description boxes but I don't care. I've liked drawing and art forever, my favorite tools were a stack ...

Welcome to another episode in this painting's process and progress. The first few steps are out of the way, with the drawing done and my underpainting maybe at 70 % done. And I could not be more excited for this one. The light and colors are giving me feelings of spring which has been great for my spirits. I may have rambled a bit in the vlog, but all of it has been in my head lately and it fel...

5 DAYS of painting water (I'm not used to this) ART VLOG
I always enjoy your video's as they are so realistic and shows an artist also has a lot of other daily stuff to deal with . Pancho looked so cute in his little bed and with the beautiful winterjacket . Great to see the progress of your painting. I was a bit late to comment here as for one or another reason (can't find out what it is) once my computer turns into the dark (night) modus (Macbook) I can't put any comments under video's , I tried everything but can't figure out what is the reason , it happened suddenly , didn't change anything pffff but anyway I watched it again now ☺ Oh great you will have Patreon soon 👍 I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas 🌲

Good progress on the painting Maria 🎨🖌️ Pancho looks so handsome with all his cozy fits ❤ Oh and also, looking forward for your patreon to be ready so I can join 💌
Thank you very much! He really does seem cozy this winter :) So excited to hear you're interested in the Patreon, time for me to get to work on it!
Another great vlog, I think I said it before but I love how you show that art is part of life and the other way around ☺️
You can say it as many time as you want 😁 it makes me so happy, that's exactly what I want to share with people!
@ Ah I’m so glad ☺️!

Nice episode. Somehow it reminded me of how artists over a hundred years ago select everyday situations of the time to create painting. For example, a park scene that the artist spent 1.5 years making it - and later the work became a significant painting: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxembourg_Gardens,_Paris
That's a great piece of art, I'm glad you shared it. Genre painting has always been my favorite type of work. And when it takes extra time, those fleeting moments get to stay with me longer :)
Wow that painting looks so cool!! 🥰
Ah thank you! 😊
I saw sweet pups tree lit up and I almost cried! 🤍🥹😍

I love your videos and your art, it inspires me to paint more.
Love your videos maria. You are so talented. The amount of looks Pancho was serving should not be legal 😍 he is so cute! Can’t wait for your patreon!
Pancho was killing it 😂 Thanks for always watching! I will get to work on making that patreon, your input and others is welcome!
The painting is looking amaaaazing!! 😍Skin tones are hard for me too. 🥴 Poncho’s jacket is so cute!! My daughter just knitted a sweater for her boyfriend’s wiener dog. I wish I could post a picture It’s soo cute too!!
Something about wiener dogs and sweaters is adorable! Thank you so much, so many little color things to figure out. Cheers 😊💛
Gracias María Saludos a Pancho ❤😊
Gracias a ti por ver nuestro video ♥️
I struggle so much to make straight lines similar to the ones you have. I’m doing a door and I just can’t seem to keep my line straight no matter what I do. Can you give me any tips?
I use a thick piece of paper as an edge sometimes, hold it on you canvas along the line needed and guide the paint brush across the edge of the paper, some paint might go underneath the paper if you aren't careful, but I do this when I really need a long straight edge for doors or architecture. There are other techniques to depending on what line you want to make, sometimes I feather in a line by doing lots of small dashes together.
It was nice to see what you’ve been up to . Very interesting how you look at the best way to combine winter productivity at the fullest but without putting too much pressure on our selves. Your painting is turning out great and I love how you take the time for it without rushing the process. Ahh I am also such an early awake person , I jump out of bed but than it feels I am just waiting for the daylight to show up to start the day 😬 . Wow it looks as winter is doing its best ⛄️. I wish you comforting days ahead 🍀
Definitely not rushing anything over here lately 😅 Thank you Debora. Good to know I've got an early rising buddy, I end up waiting for the day to come too, it builds excitement!
Maria day!
I love these tips. As someone who takes daily walks even in the winter (it's my favorite season), I can't stress enough how dressing warmly changes your perception of winter. It's my favorite time of year to walk now, I love getting bundled up and looking at bare trees and seeing the smoke coming from fireplaces. I now have the problem where I'm less motivated in the summer because it's so green (and warm). I love how the painting is coming along.
Thank you Holle! And I totally believe that! I ordered some wool leggings for under my overalls, and I'm already doing better with not skipping warmth. I'd love to find some prettier spots to take walks this season. I'll try tuning into your appreciation for winter if I'm feeling low. :)
Gosh! I love the way you express your process - the dedication to order & clarity, yet still allowing space for subtler rhythms of nature within and without. This video ignited so much inspiration for the cold season ♡
Thank you Jasmine! Well said, that's a great description of my process. I'm so glad the video sparked some inspiration for your winter. 💛
Thanks for the new video! Very exciting. Hope you're doing well :) I'm back from a mushroom excursion week and started bouldering again. I will keep the tipps in mind :)
I'm doing well, thank you! Sounds like an interesting week, I'd like to make bouldering a more regular thing. Its a fun challenge :)
Thank you for those tips Maria. Winter has always been a challenge for me particularly due to the lack of light and how everything is monochromatic. However, over the last few years I've been able to settle into a routine that works for me: I wake up, read while eating breakfast, after which is studio time where I draw and paint into the late afternoon. Then I train at my local gym ( where I also work as a coach), and then back home where I will listen to inspirational and educational videos (this is where your videos come in). Then I read again, and go to bed. Of course it's not always as picture perfect as it sounds due to, well...just life happening, but overall it works. Cheers.
That sounds like a great routine! Even if it doesn't happen perfectly everyday, knowing what the ideal plan is and hitting it most of the time is all we need. Seems like you get some solid reading in, leave book recommendations if you ever have any! Have fun painting. 😊
Gracias 😊😊
Hey Maria, so lovely to watch your video and hear what you've been up to. Your painting is coming on nicely and I look forward to see your progress with it. I found the things you said about your goals and routine for the winter months very interesting and insightful. I especially love how you see movement (even if it is just for doing chores and not physical exercise) necessary in order to be creative later. We tend to think that chores are in the way or steal time from time we could have spent creating, but actually it is necessary time for us to process things in our lives or even to problem solve something we are working on. I love this so much and will try to remind myself of it next time I get frustrated when I have to do chores. I hope you are well and that the winter months won't be too hard on you. Sending you lots of good vibes.😊
Thanks Irene! I'm glad it was interesting, it's been good for me to realize also. I think specifically because I like to paint sort of practical and mundane scenarios I find it useful to engage in and learn from those instances daily. Part of having an art life is seeing the art that's in life first, right. I appreciate the good vibes. Have fun creating and doing chores also 😉
lovely to see an upload from you!
Thanks so much, a post was overdue for sure! 💛
wool socks help me a lot with coooold feet! and wool base layers. worth the $!
I definitely need both!
Not sure if i'll get ridiculed for suggesting this, but i use natural spring water out of a bottle to avoid my sponge from smelling, instead of using tap water! But i'm a newb!!!
Interesting idea, I have jug of distilled water I could try! Thanks :)
Love it! ☃️ ❄️

Nice update, I liked it. The textiles in the painting are developing nicely. Nice to hear thoughts on any topic. I always look forward to your new updates.
Happy to hear that, it's fun to just chat sometimes. And the textiles are always a fun part!
i wonder if you've ever considered using a projector?
No desire to, it would be less accurate for the effect I want and what fulfills my vision. I do use projectors for more simple and large scale projects, like lettering on a sign.
So lovely to see you Maria. Sounds like you've set some doable goals for yourself. I love the piece you are painting at the moment x Nell.
I agree it should be doable, nice to have some goals I know can be achieved :) Thank you Nell!
Your videos are less often but very inspiring as usual. It's kind of a cliché to say it nowadays but just trust the process of creating. The last painting I made was 2,40x2,40m so it took me 1 year and 1 month to finished. Big part of why we paint is because of the pleasure it gives the act itself and that only comes from doing it and showing up. I relate with your goals! Stay strong and keep doing your great work!
Thank you so much for saying so! I feel that too, simply doing the work is enjoyable, I look forward to even slower pieces. 😁 💛
Is graphite paper just carbon paper?
Yes, it's the same thing
Do you make your living from your artwork?
My primary goal has been to develop my work and I will sell it later down the road to add to our income. But my partner and I make a living from his landscaping business.
Loving your work and videos

I love your vlogs and absolutely adore your art style. Does it have a name?
Thank you 😊 it would just be called contemporary realism.
Hi there, what's the name of the black paper you used under the tracing paper around 1:21?
It's carbon transfer paper
Wow❤
I really enjoy watching your art process 😍
It's fun to share that process, glad you enjoy it!! 🌟
