I love that prayer from St.Therese, I have never heard it before but its amazing. I love the painting, I often gravitate to cool purples and blues in my painting too.
Welcome back ! Great that you enjoyed summer and took some time off to fuel yourself . Your painting turned out so beautiful , I really like it from the colour choice upto the subject . I love flowers and I love reading and you captured that relaxing vibe in your painting . Good start of the new season 🍀🍁
Isn't it fun when we can wrap up so many motifs and feelings into a painting. It really was a satisfying start for me. Thank you for the warm welcome Debora 💛
Happy Birthday! So good to see you! The painting is wonderful. Love the balance of cool, neutral and warm. The light would be great for puzzles too. 🥰🎁✨💚
Hi Maria, i'm so happy to see you more yourself again😍! Certainly not that i don't like to see you otherwise, we all have those cycles. The selfportrait is amazing its totally you, i love it!. Happy New year to you! 💐may you accept yourself as you are and let life do the rest, faith. 🩷
Welcome back and happy belated birthday!!!!! Thank you for a really lovely video; so many things to comment about but I'll stick to three. First, great job on that painting! I love the color scheme, and that self-portrait really looks like you. It exudes a sense of coziness. Second, thanks for showing that bike ride; what a beautiful area you and Ivan live in!!! The nature is just so inspiring! Last, your lamp comes at a fortuitous time for me because I've been thinking of getting myself a new lamp for my studio. I'd use it for the same reasons you do; to draw and paint ( I also have a lot of natural light coming in, but a lamp is still a necessity), and reading. I'm an avid reader and my studio serves as a reading area as well. I had no idea what kind of lamp to get, but I think you sold me on it. All the best!
Thank you very much Kent! I'm also happy the video turned out so fun and well rounded, that's a treat for me too when it happens. The cozy painting was a plus as well. I've been so lucky to find this park where I ride my bike, it reminds me more of my hometown area in Wisconsin. And I'm even more excited the lamp was relevant for your needs, I think a good technical light will really add some positivity to the coming darker months. I hope you enjoy it if you decide to give it a try.
Welcome back Maria! I'm glad you had the opportunity to take a break, but I was also super happy seeing this video :) It was so lovely watching your video and seeing you paint again - I really love your self-portrait and the soft and cozy vibes it gives. I hope you have a good creative week and that you manage to create the space/flow in your studio you desire. Ps. I can totally relate in regards to only realising a little bit too late that I'm hungry...I also struggle to concentrate, but it is also combined with the feeling of sadness. Some people get hangry, I get sangry lol.
Thank you Irene! It's lovely to see you've posted on youtube, I'm excited to watch it! Thank you for the good wishes, I will keep easing back into things around here. I think creative types are plagued with an inability to feel hunger until it's turned into some kind of deep emotion, physical pain or by dissolving into the floor a mess. Why, I don't know...
I love how you described how creative types are plagued with an inability to feel hunger! 🤣Especially the words..."dissolving into the floor". Excellent! Thank you so much for your positivity regarding my first youtube video...I still have SO MUCH to learn in regards to filming, editing etc. But I'm enjoying learning new skills and being creative in a whole different way.
Thanks Wayne! Not sure which Dusan you're referring to but palette knife is always great for laying paint down without getting fussy. An attitude I needed a bit of 😅
Happy Belated Birthday 🎈🎂 and thank you for uploading video. The composition with your new lamp is stunning. This is the year I am committed to painting my first self portrait. Only three months left 😅
Woohoo! So glad to see you back! I always get so excited! Love your flowers btw! I wish I had property to grow stuff! Quick question.. and I maybe should know this because I’ve watched every single one of your videos and maybe even some more than once lol but do you ever have more than one painting on the go at once? You seem so organized and disciplined! I’m a hot mess and have too many projects going at once lol (part of that is because I also oil paint and I need time for drying) 🙃 Do you have any shows or competitions coming up?!
I had two pieces started during this video. But that's unusual for me I like to do one project at a time. I might change that in the future but it's just how I think. I get obsessed with an idea or project and fixate on it until it's done or I'm uninterested. Everyone's best practice will be different. I have a juried group exhibition coming this fall :) so glad you liked the flowers! 💐
Por qué te tatuatis? Hahaha Maria you made me laugh a lot 😂 Hope you had a lovely birthday 🎂🎈🎉 What a joy to have your art and videos back, you’re so talented & this lamp is a great new tool to keep creating 🌸
Wonderful as usual ! ✨ I love the atmosphere of the painting, like a 90’s watercolour (indoor scene, artificial light, flowers, beige sofa…) love it! I was wondering, what made you choose the knife in the beginning ? (I’m learning how to paint) what’s the purpose of the knife? Thank you.
Ooo 90's watercolor is a fun description. I had a couple reasons, I wanted to change the texture of the canvas around there, palette knife is great for this and adding thickness/opacity quickly. Also it's great for breaking up a large plain surface that otherwise might feel too flat and blended. With it being a shadow area too I wanted to add some interest in another way. 😊
I'm usually the same! Fighting with lights because every placement creates an annoying shadow, but the shape of the lamp makes the shadow soft and sort of drop away from the brush. It never bothered me personally.
Hope this doesn't sound weird (sure it does) but you look good: happier, determined and healthy. The links in your description box don't work :S not sure if it's just me
My primary goal has been to develop my work and I will sell it later down the road to add to our income. But my partner and I make a living from his landscaping business.
Beautiful artwork and glad that you’re back🫶
Happy belated birthday Maria! I would definitely use the lamp when coding 🎉
I love that prayer from St.Therese, I have never heard it before but its amazing. I love the painting, I often gravitate to cool purples and blues in my painting too.
It's definitely a great reminder for me. And thank you Holle! I guess we can't fight what colors come to us naturally 😅
Hi Maria, so glad to see you back posting! you look beautiful and refreshed. the painting is stunning, your talent always amazes me. xo - Fran
Thank you Fran! I'm definitely feeling refreshed and ready. 💛
I love being here, appreciate your uploads, Maria. 💕
I love that you're here, happy I could make something for you ♥️

That's a great idea, puzzles, especially in winter time deserve good lighting. Thank you so much! 💛

You nailed it!!! Great portrait. When you pulled out the knife I thought you were channeling Dusan. Look forward to your next piece

@@mariasisul interesting! thank you so much for answering! I will test it out 😃
It's kind of making me fidget, seeing that you are right handed and the light is on the right side - that would drive me crazy.
I'm usually the same! Fighting with lights because every placement creates an annoying shadow, but the shape of the lamp makes the shadow soft and sort of drop away from the brush. It never bothered me personally.
