Hidden Canyon Overlook - MOAB UTAH OFFROAD TRAIL
The Hidden Canyon Overlook Trail is a fun trail north of Moab, Utah that goes to an overlook above Hidden Canyon. The trail is moderately difficult and includes a very fun slickrock section with many ledges to go up and down.
To get to the trail take Blue Hills Road just south of the Moab Airport off of highway 191. Turn off of Blue Hills Road onto Bartlett Wash Road, which is also called Mill Canyon Road.

Pike National Forest Road 211C - COLORADO OFFROAD
มุมมอง 1.5K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Forest Service Road 211C in the Pike National Forest is a short but fun trail that climbs a ridge and ends at a beautiful campsite with a great view of Pikes Peak (14,115'). I'd recommend a high clearance 4WD vehicle to drive this one because there are some deep ruts, a few rocks and exposed tree roots to get over, and a few mud pits that stay muddy for most of the year. This trail is a great a...

The Shafer Switchbacks are a series of narrow, winding switchbacks that descend from the top of a mesa to the valley floor 800' below in Canyonlands National Park Island in the Sky district. Not scary! It’s a well maintained dirt road wide enough for two cars. The trip has gorgeous views. Go slowly and enjoy.

This video's title might be considered clickbait. The road isn't "scary" at all, except perhaps to those with abnormal fear of heights. The road reminds me of Horseshoe Meadows Road, which goes from Lone Pine (gateway to Mt. Whitney) to the Cottonwood Pass and Cottonwood Lakes trailheads in California's Eastern Sierra, gaining about 6,000 feet. The chief differences are that Horseshoe Meadows Road is paved, has sharper switchbacks, and has steeper drop-offs--yet still isn't "scary."

No tourist vans, orange cones, restaurants, or gift shops. Just solitude and stars! I was there Memorial Day weekend 2023. It was nearly empty, the flowers were blooming everywhere, it was a desert garden. If you go, camp up top on Muley Point. Plenty of space and campfires are allowed. They weren't allowed in the VOTG when I was there. The view from up there is stunning!

I took this road at 3 in the morning in 2020. I'm glad it was when most people were in lockdown. I only saw 2 other vehicles thankfully. One of them was pulling a 16 foot horse trailer going down. I couldn't understand why they would traverse this road with a trailer? I guess it's better than the extra hour it takes to go around it. I was just happy I had a small Chevy Malibu. It was certainly an experience. I'm happy someone finally got a great video of it on TH-cam. 👍🤯

I have driven this road three times. The last time was last spring with a Ram 3500 towing a 16 ft cargo trailer/RV conversion. The total length was about 38 feet. A single vehicle that long would not make some of the switchbacks as far as I can see. I had to get one front wheel against the berm at the drop off in order to make some of the switchbacks. I only saw two other vehicles. I do this drive at a walking speed. It is an incredible place to be, and I want to be able to sightsee. At a walking speed your attention doesn't have to be as focused on the road as when you are driving as at a faster speed as in this video.

Absolutely the prettiest scenery I’ve ever seen. So peaceful. I drove through it years ago and vowed I would go back and spend more time. I envy those camping out there and just enjoying the beauty. I did it in a Hertz Toyota rental. Map said violation of car rental agreement. Guess what they don’t know doesn’t hurt. Did the same on the backside of Haleakala on the road to Hana in Maui Hawaii. I get my monies worth out of those rental cars. Thanks for posting this.

In August 2019, we did this accidentally on purpose in a Kia Sportage rental while on holiday from the UK. I wanted to get a photo of Dead Horse Bend from lower down than the official viewpoint. Asked for directions which were simply " Go back on the road, you'll see a turn on your left and that's where you need to go"..... One hour later of me screaming and praying we didn't snap an axle, we got to the bottom. It scared the life out of me but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Drove it up with a 30 foot camper ignoring all warnings. My wife wondered at some point why I stopped saying anything until she noticed how scary this drive was with this too big a vehicle. Lesson learned, when warned you’d better listen :). Luckily it was very early in the morning without any other traffic. But what a drive it was, just fantastic and we remember it very well after 10 or so years. Go see for yourself if you can, but do not take anything larger than a car.
