Shooting spring piston rifles is an art and a skill that I love.
If you could not tell, I have a passion for spring piston air rifles.
learning how they need to be held, what pellet to use, how much to hold over or under and guessing the wind all plays a big part of enjoying this fabulous sport.
I'm also into natural strength training for the genetically average strength trainer, and Bible related topics.
I grew up shooting the Daisy 880, progressed further into 22 rimfires and was a rifle instructor in the United States Marine Corps.
Strength training has mostly been done through experimentation and reading. Bible background is based on that man is lost in their sins and is in desperate need of salvation through our savior Jesus Christ.

You neglected to mention the theological aspects of the spring v. gas piston debate. Spring air rifles have soul. Although a gas piston may appear to have soul, they actually lack soul and simply appear to have a soul because they copy the outward appearance of springers. PCP’s are a completely different matter. They are absolutely soulless, and the dark, twisted offspring of an air compressor and a nail gun.
Thanks for this great series, I really enjoy it. I had bad experiences with Hatsan though. Speedfire didn't fire even single shot, gas ram was defective. I also got mod 65 which was decentish accurate but I was getting flyers often, all the screws and pins were getting out (had to loctite) and the recoil was really noticable, and after 500 shots or so it stopped cocking. Now I'm buying new rifle and I can't decide between HW77 or Diana airking 54. Anyway, learning a lot from your videos.
@@antemercep8844 I highly appreciate you checking out my video and for your great comments!😃👍 Weihrauch has a reputation for being better built than Diana products, but you can't go wrong either way. 😃👍

Great video, Chuck. It got me thinking. I have both of those rifles. Keep up the good work 👊
@@RealAirgunAdventures Thank you Stephen!😃👍 I think that the Hatsan 95 had a little scope shift during that shot group?
@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 I think I would have used that exact excuse 😅
Great video with useful tips.HW is a beautiful rifle i would like to have to my collection. Hatsan if it has a good barrel is a great value for money airgun but you have to do some improvements to make it better. But if you do the right things you can get amazing groups. Finally even expensive air guns can have some problems but when you give extra money you want what you pay for

I just want to add the fact that i really appreciate all things related to spring piston air guns. The PCP guns have no appeal to me at all. For those that love them thats great, but I love the simplicity of the spring guns
@@wccross4147 That is exactly how I feel. Ps, thank you for checking out my video and for your great comments!🤠👍
Same here! And they are easy to repair / do maintenance. Further more it is much more challenging to master a springer than a pcp-rifle. That also is very attractive to me.
I only shoot springers. Easy to maintain and in survival situations you don't have to worry about tanks or anything. Thanks for focusing on springers!

@@airgunnostalgia4210 Thank you Anton! 🙂👍 I'm really hoping that people new to the sport will be able to see this video. God bless you and your family!😃👍
I see a lot of people roughly open and then slam the barrel closed, this puts a fair amount of strain/wear on the barrel pivot bolt. With a worn pivot point accuracy is compromised because of barrel droop.

Great video. When did you get the 77? Fantastic rifles, world class side by side with the Air Arms TX200. And so right with pellet choice, if using a quality gun it benefits to pair it with the best pellets. Being the AA Fields and the H&N Field Target Trophies for sure. Thanks again and God Bless
@@edwardmiles3921 Thank you Edward for your great comments and checking out my video!😃👍 I think that I bought the HW77 about 3 years ago from Krale. The price was right and now it's about one hundred dollars more. Inflation is insane. Friday, I had a new HW addition to my collection.😀👍

@@jimashby43 You are welcome Jim!😃👍
Good overview of things that affect spring piston air rifles. I only have two German air rifles, a HW 95 and a Diana 430L. The Diana is uncommon in this country as it is tuned down to the UK power restrictions and Airguns Arizona brought in a batch several years ago at a price point like the Hatsan but typical German quality, not unlike your HW 77 (both being under levers). I aso bought a Hatsan 95 for my Son-in-law about 4 years ago. All of those will shoot dime size groups, though I have only gone to about 30 yards in Son-in-laws back yard with them. As I am not a hunter, that level of backyard accuracy is good enough for me. Scope mounting on the Hatsan was difficult with the package scope (which is crap, but manageable at those close distances). All that to say you covered springer basics well.
@@wccross4147 Thank you very much!😃👍 I appreciate all of your comments and for checking out my video!😃👍
About three years ago I bought the HW 57 in .177 and i have to concede that it had quite a twang when I started shooting it, but it was accurate from the beginning nonetheless. After a couple of 500 rd. tins of pellets the twang subsided though. It just needed some time and shot counts to get broke in. Ever since it shoots just nicely. It is accurate and there is no perceived vibration after the trigger is pulled. Giving a (newly aquired) Weihrauch a tuning is certainly not wrong, however I do believe that it is not an imperative necessity. Granted, the Weihrauch plant in Mellrichstadt definitely does mass production, however their quality control and management is not to be underestimated. The guns they produce are obviously supposed to be perfectly viable on their own and with the experience I have made with my HW 57 named above, I can tell so. After an initial phase of breaking in, the spring will settle in and the gun will function perfectly well. Not every Weihrauch buyer will either want to invest in or actually have the resources for an additional tuning. My HW 57 has shown to me that you don't have to include a tuning with the purchase of a new Weihrauch gun, just to be able to experience its full quality range. Patience and persistence in the break-in phase will do the same as a tuning, allowing the gun to develop its own character with its shooter.
I have diana 34 and it is 3.8 kg i think and i realised when i was shooting my friend's norica marvic the rifle is eztremly light which make the shots flying all around. You cant shoot free handed accurately, when you hold it the hartbeat is whiggling the rifle. And it is 19 joules which makes the rifle more pickly to holding and shouldering.
Great video as always. I have an HW 90. It seems to fill quite the range with adjustable power. Not a spring or gas ram. Compressed air spring. You can run the pressure down to HW 30 FPE and lower. To HW 95 or 80 power levels. The higher the pressure, the more pellet picky it gets. I never considered the Weihrauch line to be budget friendly. I think for beginners the Gamo line is a better entry level drug. Once you break the 150, 200 dollar mark with Gamo. You are on your way to a high dollar fix. The most accurate airgun I have. The Sig Sauer ASP 20 in .177. I would have liked to have one in .22. It's a shame Sig stopped production. At half the money, it out shoots any of my German rifles. If I had to part with all but one. The Sig would be the keeper.

Kris Kyle used a hatsan 95 as his primary sniper rifle
@@jayc4715 Ok lol
Chuck, hello again and again. Do you have an email address or social media account where I can contact you ? :)
From my experience for what Gamo is charging & a lot of other companies such as the Barra Airguns Black Ops Sniper S are way over priced & just junk. My Black Ops shook itself apart 3 times & 2 of those times were after I de-greased & blue loc-tite everything. The plastic inside the stock cracked, picatinny rail kept coming loose along with the screw under it. All screws were torqued. Fun gun but they should've of made picatinny rail into the top shroud. Not everyone likes open sights. I hear so many bragging about springers/break barrels but imo I would never buy one again. There's no reason these companies can't use better steel & the engineers come up with better ways to assemble these violent spring/gas rifles. It really doesn't cost that much more but then again when using plastic vs metal there is a huge profit loss for them at our cost. Solution stop buying & send the message.
@@TheCleaner6969 Gamo, and many Chinese break barrels are of lower quality. Germany and Britain make fabulous spring piston rifles. Today I am getting one of those supremely nice spring piston rifles from Germany! 😃👍
@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 Seems everything is made in China these days. Do you know of any tactical looking German made break barrels?
Chuck, at some point you are going to cost me about $450 ;) still haven't "pulled the trigger" but keep circling back to the HW50...seems to me like a Goldie Lock's size rifle..will be primarily plinking/target in .177.. the HW30 seems a tad small and the HW95 likely overkill.. keep em coming!
@@AzPauly Thank you for checking out my video and for your great comments!😃👍 Personally, I don't think that you can go wrong with any of them. I have an HW50s coming my way soon😃 and hopefully it will be a good one and not pellet picky.
Your experience seems very close to mine. I started off with many of the brands you have and quickly moved up to German rifles. The difference is pretty stark. The Hatsan, the Gamo, are all gone now. I do regret selling my RWS48. I never owned the 34 but have heard good things about it. I thinned the herd completely down two custom builds from Paul Watts. A Beeman R9 in .20cal and an HW95 in 25cal. Appreciate the vid!!
