Skate & Explore - Zanzibar
มุมมอง 1.2Kปีที่แล้ว
I'm on holiday in Zanzibar for a bit, visiting my friend @gennaprint. Took the opportunity to do a bit of skating in Forodhani park. Skated around the city abit more, but not insanely interesting. Skating is very Nairobi with drivers having similar behaviours and habits lol. I almost got run over by the local buses which is extremely typical ... Looking to join my list of patrons? I tried the Magneto longboards 44inch kicktail cruiser for the first time. It's a budget cruiser and I wasn't all that impressed with it to be honest. These are just my first impressions, and hopefully, an in-depth review will follow later on and maybe my thoughts will improve with more riding and experimentation. 88 Wheel Co McFly Review (best LDP wheel?)
มุมมอง 4.3Kปีที่แล้ว
This is a product review of the 88 wheel co 86mm Mcfly. I think @88wheelco have really outdone themselves with this product. I haven't skated a wheel as fast as this one, but that also absorbs a ton of road vibration whilst providing a "cloud-like" ride. Awesome vdo bro!
Excellent review thanks for the recommendation, how do I learn more about the pros and cons of bushings? Different types, quality brands etc?
You can learn a bit more about bushings here: th-cam.com/video/v-Dg4Y0gpL0/w-d-xo.html Some quality brands are Venom, Riptide, Hardcore, Seismic etc.
Like 10 YEARS ago you could get a black knock-off penny board with a braking system and SO glad I didn't. Seems it hasn't changed from here where /when it didn't let you bomb hills safely earlier, slowed progress, increased weight, and got people in dangerous situations they weren't ready for even tripping people trying to brake and corner with the peg catching + less grip. Flat boardwalk cruising was okay to look like you didn't need to run of board when starting out I suppose.
The previous versions in 2012 worked better and you use any wheels so you could put bigger on.
130 trucks and Doozies it AMAZEBALLZz
Can one and done this board - using the kick-tail for sharp turns and getting the standard flip tricks and LD dance moves just needs the specialization. If you ride a bunch of boards it basically just becomes a boardwalk cruizer.
As a skateboarder why don’t you guys just get independents or thunders etc etc no hate generally curious
Riding this board on the weekend to chase that poontang. Respect.
5:55 lollllllllllll jajajajajjajjj beautiful review, love all the content in the channel, you are genuine and very rational, no bs
I really like your unique style of making the video, very interesting to watch, when you just cruise around and describe different places in the city. I like that you don't hide the truth, you show it like it really is. Nairobi is pretty nice tho. Make more videos like that.
Can you compare the comet to your upgraded setup for the LY ripper? I'm looking for a playful/carvey LDPumping cruiser.
anyone know some decent brands to buy some from?
Also me at my first race: 0:24 "I'm Excited... underprepeared, undertrained and unexpericed" 😂 Great video & effort man! It's normal to recover for days after that increase of exercise volume/distance compared to your normal routine.
Great video
I personally prefer Dinghy over Tugboat, although I like them both. That's probably because I'm smaller than you.
geeze awesome review this is exactly what i was lookin for. i wish there was a product that wasnt so integrated into the trucks/wheels. maybe im an idiot but i struggle to see how you couldnt just have a mechanism that applies a mass of rubber or somethin directly to the ground that can be replaced after it wears down.
Dog 💩 as a marker 😅
Actually mini cruisers are good for short distance
would you recommand the tugboat or this one? my dinghy killed it'self by driving in a lake lmao, and was wondering if I should get this one or the tugboat
Made my day 😂👏🏻👏🏻
Great review! Music from Chrono Trigger fits great to the video ;)
mini cruiser are fun on the street, longboard are only good for straight road without cars
This was really cool. Would love to visit one day.
I highly disagree that the Comet is the best skateboard. You haven't ridden one of my custom builds. A comet cruiser will never carve, cruise, or feel as good as my custom built, dialed in Surfskates with a Meraki on the front, set up for carving and cruising. If you're coming from a Comet or similar ride to one of my custom builds, you most likely won't like it as much at first....until you ride it long enough that it feels stable and natural, and learn to ride it the way it's meant to be ridden. Then you will experience what I'm talking about and would never be satisfied with A Comet or any board with regular trucks. The closest thing you can buy similar to mine is the Carver Surfrider. Get a Surfrider, and put a Meraki truck on the front with 4" hangers and give yourself a few weeks at least to acclimate to it. You won't want to ride the Comet as much.
That's why I do not like much the idea of "cruiser board". I have an 8.6 deck on 149mm trucks, 65mm wheels... thats just an crossover between 70's deck on size but with modern concave. It could get even more stable with 159mm or 169mm with a 9/10' deck. Maybe an deck with 16' wheelbase with 32 or 33'. I just can't think of not buying and skateboard piece by piece. Maybe that landyyatchs is just a cool buzz, it might be an choice to build up piece by piece yourself and gets really better results.
I can’t Ollie yet but seeing that big ass ditch you concurred with ease I have to step my game up.
I need you to review the Supersonic so that I can decide between them!
Hit up Pantheon! I'm maybe stepping away from reviews (cause the money situation isn't good), but I'd love too! I'd say if you want to also pump, it's a good option. Better all around choice
@@LongboardingExplained I'm sorry to hear that bro, maybe set up a patreon? Your channel has been so useful!
@@Asheanae I do have one setup but it is presently sustaining me. Longboarding isn't doing too hot right now so not much left over to buy stuff. Not that that was ever the case tbh 😅
Has anybody tried Dad Bod 105mm 80a wheels on this (or other over 100m harder wheels?)? Thinking, of updating 92mm 74a Karmas little big bigger and harder for hoping better rolling atributes. And review is Killer! Bought same board after saw this! great Job!
I am curious: Have you tried riding the long board the other way around, with the brake in front? On bikes the front brake is significantly stronger than the back brake, and I can imagine the same thing happening here.
Yes I have! I think I specified it in my write up, but I get pitched forward. Not as nice as in the back and leaning back
Hello, what do you think about Ditch life?
Nice, answered all my questions if it’s worth playing with or not thanks!
respect the hustle
Ty I got mine drop hmmr I was looking into ly 33 drop two small 38 to big 36 flepfperfect. ty
Interesting you say electric more dangerous, is that because of the speed? I would have thought for braking is more risky than proper brakes…?
*foot braking*
Footbraking on a normal Longboard can be pretty reliable and safe in the hands of a decent rider. The braking on electric boards is handy, but its like they're constantly trying to throw you off/pitch you forward. In an emergency situation/when you're not prepared it can be quite sketchy. Also Eboards allow you to go fast in situations maybe you shouldn't have that kinda speed. Down to rider control really but scary!
I have never rode them but just saw a bunch of them at one of my local shops the other day.
finally! found a video that explained this. the term uses "reverse", but the trucks in the shop i looked at had "inverted" for the same thing. jesus. anyway, good video
Has anyone changed out the bushibgs? I feel like im too heavy for the stock ones and I'm no where near stable even when theyre crabked down
I heard they were designed to save your life in case you hit a pebble compared to regular skate wheels
You sure say typically alot💯
👁️👄👁️Really tell me more anything more
Awesome review! Am also in Kenya. Subscribed!
If you're used to riding longboards and then ride mini cruisers, yes you will tire easily and be less comfortable because you're not conditioned to riding them which uses different techniques, stance, etc. If you ride short boards often, you will get used to them and your body will adjust and they will be comfortable. I can ride Mini Cruisers all day long and more than 10 miles in comfort and I'm 6'3" tall with size 12 U.S. feet. For long distances, yes I would prefer a longer board which is a better tool for the job, but you will get used to and acclimate to whatever you ride. If your used to riding a certain board then when you switch something radically different it will feel strange and even uncomfortable, at first for a little while. I've learned to not make final opinions on a new board until I've spent a lot of time riding it and figuring out what it can do. The secret to enjoying any skateboard setup is learning to ride it how it want's to be ridden, and then ride it when you feel like doing that kind of riding. Is super fun having a quiver of Skateboards that all do different things and getting to mix it up day to day.
Mini Cruisers are not longboards, there's nothing long about them. Mini cruisers are mini cruisers, it's its own category of skateboard. I used to think short skateboards and mini cruisers sucked too, but then I spent some time with them. If you think mini cruisers suck or difficult to ride, it's because you're fixated on just one aspect of skateboarding, Longboarding, and you haven't discovered Surfskating trucks or what you can do on short boards. I started out riding only 42" longboards with regular RKP trucks. It was fun. Then I discovered Surfskate trucks. I put some Carver CX trucks on the longboard and it totally transformed it to whole other level. Then I put a Yow Meraki on it and that took it up to an even nother level. Then I started building my own super long 5.5 ft Surfskate longboards. Also insane fun. Then I started experimenting with short Surfskates which I didn't initially like when I started longboarding. I realized I just needed to spend some time riding them and setting them up to see what they could do. Once I got them dialed in they were insane fun. I realized that all sizes of Surfskates from super short 22" mini cruiser setups all the way up to super long 8 ft long boards, all have an awesome riding experience to offer. If you ride a short board expecting it to do what a longboard does, it will suck. Spend some time learning to ride the specific skateboard the way it wants to be ridden, and you'll be rewarded by unlocking riding techniques and fun you didn't know were there. I've learned to embrace and ride the whole spectrum of Surfskates, and encourage everyone to get into building their own setups. Get some Carver CX or similar trucks and once you get used to them they are so awesome. Then move up to some Yow Meraki, Carver C7 or similar secondary pivot Surfskaye trucks. Take the time to learn to ride these and the reward and riding experience is awesome! Mini cruisers with surfskate adapters on them are super super fun!
The smaller and narrow the board the faster and less energy you need to propel yourself forward. So for sacrificing comfort you're actually gaining a lot more efficiency.
Typically
Great review!
The brake responsiveness is adjustable, i tightened mine alot in hopes it stopped the pedal from rattling, it didnt but my brake is very strong and i have to feather it to brake gradually, id fly off if i fully stepped on it. Also the spray on grip tipe wears down smooth very quickly
Are those the Orangatang Caguama Longboard Wheels 80mm 77a blue’s?? Also.. would you recommend those wheels for the pantheon Pranayama?
Thank you for the show. I would still like to see a close up of the “slightly flipped” Supremes and I’ d like to know if you’ve got extra break soles on your shoes. I’ve so far one very light pair on almost worn out canvas slippers I could imagine putting such soles on but don’t know if these shoes are already too light for them to work. Also glad for your opinion of the 150s Paris being too wide fir the deck. Do the 130 Bears also remove the flex from the Ripper deck? I still have the 155 Polar Bears on and I do appreciate the ride stability for I can ride on the grass beside the road for stopping which I would imagine more sketchy on RKPs. And I do enjoy the flex of the deck with the wider distance of the TKPs so far. Keep it coming!
You're styles are global. I met a guy who was rocking a downhill254 Tshirt in California. I was visiting from another state.
