the drop hammer ws. my first Landyachtz board. I love it. though I now have gotten 2 dingoes sinc. Crown Peak and Coffin XL. I like smaller boards for around town but this one is also amazing for all sorts of rides. great content thanks man,

Just found this gem of a channel, love the detail in this review. I saw you other videos where you discussed wedging/dewedging to improve the stability and pumping. Could you do wedging on a drop through board like this?

At the moment, I have a very big Landyachtz Stratus 46” and an arbor Oso cruiser that’s similar to the Tugboat in size so I was thinking about getting an in-between sized drop through longboard.
Hey Downhill254 , as you recommended big wheels for the drop hammer, and I know you previously had the drop cat, I’d also be interested in if you recommended upgrading from its 72mm plow hawgs to 85 mm speed vents or similar?
Yes! Send it on this board, you'll love it. It will fit perfectly between the Stratus and Obo, let me know how you find it after riding it. I reckon you'll really like it
If I was interested in psuhing around for 10+km, I would recommend upgrading to the 85mm speed vents. Otherwise the plow kings work well enough!
@@LongboardingExplained You were totally right! I got the Drop Hammer this weekend and I love it. It’s the perfect size for my stance and it’s so lightweight in comparison to the Landyachtz Stratus I learned on. It’s also so bouncy and fun to carve with, does much better over bumps and cracks, and I don’t have to push as often on it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the board! They made it much easier for me to make the decision to buy this one.

the drop hammer has a similar outline shape to the switchblade, but a ply or two thinner.
Awesome video! Been enjoying your content a lot! I recently got a Landyachtz switchblade which seems similar to the Drop Hammer, but it doesn't get many reviews/screen time. I was wondering why that is.
I lado have a Switchblade and I feel like was not the best idea. It’s too stiff for me. Maybe I’ll switch the wheels first and if that doesn’t works then I’ll consider the drop hammer or even the Ripper

I saw sooo many ppl comparing this to the drop cat and quite a number of them prefer the drop cat.
what do you guys think? I am curerntly available to get a drop hammer deck for a fairly reasonable price.
I prefer the Drop Hammer. I felt more comfortable on it over the Drop Cat. Drop Cat concave and wedging is very aggressive. I got used to it but it didn't feel as natural as the Drop hammer did
Dope vid my guy 💯 i dialled in standup slides on my drop hammer its a great cruiser with freeride capabilities (the drop thru mounting making tractionloss easier than a topmount) its an awesome versatile board
Disclaimer: early grabs plus the flex can lead to your knuckles and concrete kissing which is not so cool 🤷🤣

I have a drop hammer and I’m thinking of putting orangatang 85mm wheels. You think I will get wheel bite if I get 85mm wheels.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and reading the review on your website! Luckily you are both great at riding as well as writing. I thought the voice over worked well and it was soothing to watch you ride while you told the story.
This board looks to ride so smooth. I was lucky to get a great deal on it, under 150 usd new.
I will first try out the Supremes that comes stock but I'm quite curious to try out the Kegels that you recommend. I also noticed Orangatangs have an even bigger wheel, the Caguama, would that be overkill, too heavy to push or give other issues?
Im somewhat a lighter rider so I might experiment with the bushings as suggested.
I understand this is more of a cruiser but how does it handle more speed, going downhill? Would it be worth experimenting with split angels? Or just save that for a more suited board.
One thing I thought about is if one can stiffen up boards with flex somehow for such occasions?

Some riders like cuagamas but I wouldn't go that tall. 80mm feels to be the sweet spot. i don't think i'd be any more comfortable with a bigger wheel on it tbh.
I wouldn't use it for DH, but you can def learn some slides on it. That said, if oyu have the money it is more worthwhile to buy a board suited for dh!
Not sure how you can stiffen up the board ... some people use meat spines to stiffen their dh boards but idk how it would work here ..

About stiffening up a board I thought about something similar to grind rails but in the appropriate material and stiffness and design such as it could be easily removed or attached to alter the stiffness of the board. Don't know if its been done or if there is something inherently wrong with the idea. I guess we all want a board that can be as useful as possible...
But sure id buy the appropriate board without problem. Just a thought :-)
I would like to get your input on something. I can get a similarly good deal on a drop cat 38 and I wonder if you feel it would be redundant to add that to the drop hammer? Im also considering that the drop cat comes with the large plow king wheels that possibly could also be used on the drop hammer? Also between the drop cat 38 and the 33 with one would you choose..? Thanks.
Are those the Orangatang Caguama Longboard Wheels 80mm 77a blue’s?? Also.. would you recommend those wheels for the pantheon Pranayama?
I have this board and I can’t figure out how to turn it sharp like you did, have you loosened your trucks any? I’ve ridden mine for about 24 hours total now and left it as it was when I started. I want to be able to take sharper turns and 180s with it. Thanks for any tips!

I beleive the drop carve is similar. It's bascally the drop hammer with kicktails. But a drop board with kicks is likely to break so I dint reocmmend it much

I eventually want to get into freeriding and sliding, and I was wondering if you think this board's 70mm base wheels would be okay for that. Let me know!!

Eh, probably won't. They're far too similar to Rogues for me to make a point to try em. I'd ride soem for a little bit then make a video, but I wouldnt commit to a fullr eview!

Would it be better with microdrops? To stop your feet from creeping up or down until they eventually contact the wheels?
That doesn't happen! The sharp bits of the cutouts are actually raised abit so it keeps your feet from moving forward

After a few weeks, I'm still absolutely in love with the Drop Hammer. Now I want to upgrade it with bigger wheels like you suggest.
Are the ones you use in this review the Orangatang Kegel 80mm, 77a - blue?
Besides slower acceleration, do you notice a difference in the height of the board overall, when using 80mm wheels? I like that the board is so close to the ground and can't tell if I will feel the difference of 10mm (compared to the 70mm HAWGS the board came with).

You seem to get pretty fast with this board! I've read some reviews that were "warning" about getting too fast with the hammer because speed wobbles. In your video however, this doesn't seem to be an issue. Is that because of your skill level? I want this thing for cruising. However, here and there I would encounter a mellow hill on my paths in my area. So I was worried about the speed warnings. But maybe I am exaggerating. Again: My main goal is to cruise :) just can't avoid some small hills. Do you think it is possible to maintain control with the hammer, even with not so much skill like you have?
It's not a board for downhill. I can skate that fast because I do downhill a lot and Im used to it. SO yeah I'd say skill level plays a part for sure

I can't believe how comfortable and carvable this thing is. Had some of the best rides ever with this board already. Your praise in this video is in no way exaggerated! The "hills" I mentioned and was worried about are a joke to this baby.
