Would you suggest having a written agreement with a brewery or coffee shop, etc.? And would you suggest posting the prices for each piece?
I personally never had a written agreement but if it makes you feel more comfortable, you could always put one together. The only agreement we had was: if a work sells, replace it with a new one so there’s not blank wall space, and to take down all art once the time limit was up. As for listing prices, I do. I had the artwork title, price and details for each work posted clearly. I also included a QR code that said “scan to purchase” which once scanned would generate an email to me directly. This method worked great for me and I’d recommend it to anyone!
@GinnyStLawrence Great info. Thank you!
Works for me...!😎
Thanks for watching, Chuck!
One of the single most important steps I took to selling my work was to form an LLC and get myself a tax ID. If you're in the USA, at least, and want to make a living from what you do, you're going to want to legally be able to do so. For me an LLC made sense, it might be different for others. Do research on this to educate yourself on what legal entity makes sense for your situation.
Thanks for adding this, Joey!
Ginny, loved this video! Please share what you used to create all the cool text animation on this video. What are the tools? Is it all Fresco and then imported into Premiere?
Hey thanks so much! Great question! The answer is much simpler than that! I use Final Cut Pro on my iPad & the live writing feature within the app. It’s an overlay that allows you to utilize the Apple Pencil. You draw over the video and can speed up, slow down, and go as crazy as you’d like with your on screen handwriting or doodles. I believe this feature is only on the iPad version of Final Cut, though that needs fact checking. Final Cut just updated this feature to allow for more pen and brush options which is AWESOME! Let me know if you’d like to see a video on this process. Ps you absolutely could use fresco to achieve this, though it’s a bit more cumbersome than the live drawing feature within Final Cut on the iPad for me personally. Procreate dreams would be a more seamless workflow (import video into dreams and write on top of video) that would most closely mimic the Final Cut on iPad live writing feature you see here. With that being said, there’s so many ways to execute this, just a matter of which aligns best with your workflow. Hope this helps! ❤️
@@GinnyStLawrence Excellent! I would love to see a video on this process. I'll try Final Cut on the iPad. Sounds wonderful. I was previously a FC user, then went to Premiere. Now I'm thinking of returning to FC. One other question. Different process. In Fresco, how can you change the color portion of a graphic (such as a logo) if that graphic was not line created in Fresco but instead imported as a JPG or PNG? In your Fresco for Beginners, you show how to trace over an imported image when you make it more transparent, which in turn makes it a line drawing created in the app. Is that the only workaround for any imported image? Thank you in advance.
My problem is i don't know how to create finished works in the digital sense nor what to do with them when i'm finished. There's stuff like pixels and resolutions and mb and file types and i just don't understand that. Then software is often confusing or lacking. So i just f*ck around digitally while i dream. And i don't finish anything cause i'm put off. But even if i did finish it, it would probably be the wrong resolution, ratio, file type, something, and i would be forced to remake it which i am NOT going to do. I'm not those other artists willing to redo things. I have a hard enough time finishing ANYTHING in the first place regardless for the purpose.
The beauty is you often don’t have to recreate a digital work to resize it. You can simple just change the canvas size with a few mouse clicks and the artwork along with it. The art size or resolution only matters if you’re printing, if not, who cares! I’m going to leave with you a great da Vinci quote, “art is never finished, only abandoned.” ❤️ thanks for watching and keep making art!
@@GinnyStLawrence thanks for the reply. was not expecting that. also i like your glasses count and other bits of humor throughout your video. If i am interested in printing though, do you have any suggestions on where to start for some self-publishing resources like zines?
Thank you, Ginny. We loved your intro to Fresco. So well done! Can't wait to see more!
Thank you so much! More fresco content coming your way soon, stay tuned!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the love
For new folks , it's essential to get out and meet other artists and curators. Try Art receptions& openings, &Association member shows. If you've never shown before and you're not sure about the process, or you haven't shown in a long time heed this: Every local Art Association has fund raising events where they request donations of art in order to sell, raffle, or auction at the fundraiser. It's a good opportunity to off load a piece or three your archived unsold work, and a great opportunity to Network at the meet n greet. If you are thinking of applying for entry into a gallery, a show or a contest, be sure and check if your work is a good fit.
your confidence as an artist and not a techy person has pushed me over to the ipad mini. There are SOOOO many videos that complain about these little things that seem so insignificant
I believe it’s one of apples best products! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I agree, a lot of the things complained about amongst the tech review space I simply don’t notice for my use case. Congrats on the mini!! 🤘🏼
A well made and informative video with very a relaxing delivery style 👍😊
Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such a kind comment, that means a lot to me ❤️
I’ve been waiting to start an art business for the longest time, always prioritising what l considered to be more important and “sensible” things that needed to be done over what l wanted. Plus like you, a chronic over-thinker, like to have prepped, researched and get organised before starting anything … BUT this year, out of nowhere l was rushed into hospital 3 times for emergency operations. I had a tumour, it was cancer. One day, at my lowest point, it hit me, l hadn’t even started my art business. That one thing really hit me the hardest out of anything else you could think of. I couldn’t believe l hadn’t got started on something that was so important to me and maybe now l would never get the chance! The tumour is out, l don’t need chemo or radiotherapy …. and l have been given a second chance to do this. Thanks for your video x
Holy smokes what a scary experience that must have been for you. I’m happy to hear you’re healing from this and I admire your positive outlook during such a dark time. It’s never too late to become who you want to be, or do what you want to do. Thanks for watching and commenting and I wish you all the success now and into the new year! 🙏
Thank you so much. Very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
That's it!

Interesting. A social media video telling us how to do something without social media.
It's a bit of a paradox, isn't it? 😉 I posted this when I had less than 300 subscribers. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for all the good advice. I'm going to try all of these tips!! And definitely get a business card, Patrick Bateman style. 😂
Haha! That’s a good one! 😂
Thanks
Happy to help!
Please: Which case is that on the mini?
This is the orange Apple Smart Folio case. It’s awesome!! I believe I’ve linked it in the description, but if not, it’s available on Amazon or Apple’s website!
Can you iron a chalk caricature drawing?
I’m not positive about this. If it’s set, possibly but proceed with caution!
Online now it is hard to stand out unless you have some niche product. People steal other people’s work and people are brutal on social media. My feelings would get hurt fast 😂 I tried selling glass jewelry one time but it was a failure. I would never try to sell anything again in any setting. You get more enjoyment making art just for the sake of making it. Once you go pro, the joy is pretty quickly extinguished. Heard other people say the same thing.
Thanks for sharing!
I’m not one for tech specs either, but now that I see the current Mini 7 is more powerful than the Pro model I use… yeah maybe it’s time for me to get a new one 😅 and the travel-friendly mini looks like the model for me
I know! It’s hard to resist, right? Plus the support of the new Apple Pencil pro in the mini 7.. whew! 😅 I’m always looking at ways to reduce my daily tech and tools and my god this new mini is SO tempting!
Thank you for a great video ❤ the only thing i cannot find in Adobe Fresco is a lasso fill tool , which i find kind of an essential drawing tool. Any alternative solution ? Or could it be something they would add ?
Thanks so much!! ❤️ How I lasso fill in fresco is I use the lasso tool to make my selection, then I select the paint bucket and fill my lasso selection with my color of choice. See if that will work for your use case and workflow!
Very helpful, thanks
You're welcome! ☺️
Does this work with color pencils and maker drawings
As long as they are set yes it should be fine!
You are such a great teacher! And I learned a ton from this video. I’m brand new to Fresco and you broke the steps down so effortlessly and it was super easy to follow along. You made this less intimidating for me lol so thank you !! ✨✨✨
Aw thank you so much! 😊 I'm happy to hear you're enjoying Fresco! It’s an awesome program that has so much to offer!!
Yes I'd watch 10 hours of you mixing colors.
Seriously considering a no talking, just color mixing playlist. The options are endless and I find it so soothing! ❤️
Thanks for a great video. A big help to me as I transfer from Procreate to Fresco.
You’re welcome, Peggy! Thanks for watching!
What graphic design apps do you use on the Mini?
I mostly use fresco and procreate for all things digital art
i needed this, thank you
You are so welcome 🙏
“YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP” I’m sorry but I’m sick of this hustle - productivity culture cliche message… It’s also quite violent because this has been always promoted by men that have a completely different hormone system having a 24HS cycle while women have a 30 day hormone cycle… this kind of message led to anxiety and stress and self doubt… just to start with… yeah No.
I think you missed my point entirely. If 5 mins a day is “hustle” then idk what to tell you. You’re entitled to your opinion thanks for sharing and thanks for watching. ❤️ 🙏
Which storage option did you get for your ipad mini 6? The new iPad mini 7 goes up to 512gb now. I'm torn btwn the 256 & 512 🤔
I currently use the 256GB iPad Mini 6 and the 512GB iPad Pro M2. If I were to upgrade, I’d go for the 1TB iPad Pro with the nano-texture glass and a 512GB iPad Mini 7, along with the Apple Pencil Pro. While 1TB would be overkill for the M4 Pro, I’d choose it solely for the amazing nano-texture display…it’s FANTASTIC for drawing! As for the Mini, 256GB was the largest option at the time, but if I were buying today, I’d opt for 512GB. It’s probably more storage than necessary, but I prefer having extra space on the device rather than paying monthly for iCloud. For just $200 more, the 512GB version of the Mini 7 feels like a no brainer, but you can’t go wrong with ANY mini!
Smart Lady.
🙏
Hello, thank you for sharing this video, i have a few questions, How change DPI ? and How save a file as PSD? i already choose PSD, but still saved JPG photo. Thank you
Happy to help! You can change PPI by creating a new canvas > then click “print size” and adjusting to your needs. Fresco uses PPI and PPCM. You can change the PPI of a current canvas/ current art work in fresco by clicking the gear icon in the top right. Next to the canvas size (ex: 2000x2000 px) click “change” > then click “print size” and adjust from there. To export a PSD file in fresco, in the top right corner between the person with a + and the gear icon you’ll see a box with an upwards pointed arrow. Click that > then click “publish & export” then click “export as” and select the PSD format from the drop down menu. Hope this answers your questions!

great video thx for sharing, I haven't sold anything yet as I''m just getting ready to do so but have a question regarding prices if I may ask. Some say theres a calculation one can follow to set your price if a gallery was going to sell it so I wonder would you use that same calculation if you were to sell privately. thx
Yes! Great question. I have an old blog post I wrote about this. Hopefully you find it helpful: www.ginnystlawrenceart.com/blogs/art-tips-creative-business-advice/how-to-price-your-art-the-ultimate-guide-free-resources?_pos=1&_sid=824c2a925&_ss=r If not, shoot me an email! Happy to help!

Anytime. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll do great!
hi I sold art years ago in my father's restaurant, a lot of my work was hanging on the walls, i could say at least thirteen to fourteen pieces were sold, the restaurant closed two years ago, have moved to another state, and only sold two pieces really low priced at a garage sale for the neighborhood, they have them every couple months, but have tried to ask about artwork hanging opportunities at the local library, but have not heard back. some of your tips are very helpful, looking to try some other tips to see how that fares, thanks so much
Thanks for sharing your experience - it's great to hear that you had success selling work in a restaurant, another fantastic option. Thank you!

The largest canvas size supported for the 6th generation iPad mini is 8192 x 8192 pixels (8k by 8k or 27.307 x 27.307 inches). In procreate, at 300dpi, that allows for 4 layers. Adobe fresco maxes out at the same 8192 x 8192 pixel size, but they allow for unlimited layers. So it won’t quite support A1, but very close! Hope this helps
@@GinnyStLawrence thank you very much. This helps so much 😻
i sell at farmers markets. At the very least, its good advertising and people like meeting artists. farmers markets can be found every day of the week and are affordable,
Yes, Farmer’s Markets are another great spot. Thank you for mentioning this! 😊
Depends on one's definition of "social media." I see your video ("media") on YT, which can be defined as "social" since it reaches society. Some might say this video is a form of self-promotion, which would negate your points.
Could be. I posted this video when I had 150 followers on YT and my IG was barely started yet I still sold 5 figures of my art at that time with no to very little social media following. The irony is that this particular video “blew up” as well as my followers here on YT. None of which have contributed to the success or sales of my work the way in which the methods I discussed here did for me personally. Hope this perspective helps provide context. Thanks for watching 🙏
As an artist, the iPad Mini might just be the perfect sketchbook that fits in your pocket! With the new features and portability, it’s like carrying a mini studio wherever you go. But... will it finally cure my never-ending search for the 'perfect' tablet?
Only one way to find out! 👀
Currently I haven't any artwork that is finished to sell . Yes this was helpful to me. Thanks for the encouragement!!😊
You are so welcome, glad it was helpful!
For me I had a time when things were selling pretty well, I was on a roll and painting every day, and it was beautiful. Then the sales dried up, and I had to figure out how to keep painting even without sales. Because I forgot for a while that selling isn't the success point. Making art is.
It’s easy to get caught up in that whirlwind of creating for sales or other people. I find I always make my best work when I create the things I want to see out in the world that feel most like “me”. And ironically, those tend to resonate most with the public. Cheers and thanks for watching ❤️
