A quick question im using acrylic paper and water base paint do i need to gesso?

You should be okay without gessoing. It depends on what final outcome you’re looking for. You don’t have to gesso. If you’re using more water in your paint, select a heavy weighted paper so it can properly absorb the water. Good luck!

I am a beginner and want to do acrylic on watercolor paper. At my senior center they have cheap watercolor paper and Bristol. Which would be better to gesso? I don't want to invest in expensive paper since I mostly throw things away after doing them. Thanks in advance, Lisa

Hi Lisa! Bristol is typically much smoother, thinner, and less robust than watercolor paper. Between the two, I would recommend gessoing the watercolor paper.

This watercolours paper is expensive than a canvas.. what the point of gesso the paper?

This is 300lb, very thick paper. Some artists prefer to mimic a canvas like texture and painting experience on this paper, which is why the gesso. It's all personal preference! Happy painting! :)

How do you stop the paper from buckling?

300 lb is very thick compared to the average 120 lb paper. The stiffness would prevent it from buckling. You could also use illustration board
