Thank you. New to watercolor and the paper wrinkles/warp was driving me bananas. 😂
You’re welcome! 😊 it’s the worst but thankfully fixable! Congrats on your new creative endeavor ❤️
This technique worked very well for me with watercolor paper. Thank you for this useful tutorial! Have a merry Christmas!
I'm so happy to hear that this helped you! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Happy creating :)
Oh wow thank you so much I’m working on a very big project and I needed this thank you so much I really appreciate it

You’re most welcome!
LOVE THE BOOKS
Hey there thank you big thank you from California the more northern part you have taught me something and inspired me to get my paints back out girl. Thank you. 2:10
I love to hear this! Art is very healing! Enjoy getting back into the swing of things!
Thank you, thank you. I kept starting over again. Mine has greenery on the lower half and it just seemed to warp up..
my question.. I’ve tried different papers.
What H2O color paper do you find the best. I like to use cold press but what one???
Great question! My all time favorite cold press paper is the Fabriano Artistico. I linked it in the description. It should be the second link under “supplies often used” That is my go to!
Would this work for card thats a bit thicker and got bent in the post? It's a charcoal drawing and not fixed so would have to be careful what I press the charcoal side against....
I'd be real careful with unfixed charcoal as you don't want to smudge. If it's fixed and cured, you could try some light heat, but I would test it out on a charcoal sketch to be safe! Best of luck to you!
Thank you for this tutorial! I have just one question, does the pillowcase get ruined in the process? Should I choose an old one?
I didn’t ruin the pillow case but if you want to be extra careful, use an old one! Hope this helps!
I love this video, so easy! Do you think this would work with my colored pencil drawings? When I press hard while drawing (to get a darker color) , the paper bubbles so there are ripples in the final work. My concern is the wax in the pencils using an iron. Thanks for your video!
It should as long as the heat isn’t too high… try crinkling a scribble paper first just to test to make sure you don’t ruin a finished piece! Good luck and report back!! ❤️
How long do you iron for and also how long would it take to iron out the wrinkles that my kids gave me 👴
I iron for 10-20 seconds at a time. As for the wrinkles your kids gave you, I’m SOL on that one! 😂 lol
Have you had any experience with ironing out a colored pencil drawing? Worried the wax would be more susceptible to ironing.
I have not tried this. Try it on a scratch piece of paper with color pencil markings first before you try it on a finished to make sure it won't ruin anything! Best of luck!
Can we use the same method for pencil drawing too?
Depends on the hardness of the charcoal. If it’s “set” or not. If it rubs off or smudges easily with your finger, probably best to avoid this, or try it out on a quick sketch first if possible to ensure you don’t damage any artworks you wouldn’t want to.
I can’t seem to find anything about smoothing out dents on canvas’ that already have an artwork on them. I believe what I have is an embellished print. It’s large too but has some very distracting dents.
Can I use this ironing technique? Also, do you use the mist or steam?
Take it to a reputable frame shop
I’ve had success spraying the back of canvases with water (it takes quite a bit) can smoothen them out, however a reputable frame shop should be able to fix it for you. Sometimes, if canvases get loose they require restretching, which a frame shop can handle for you!
Great advice
Can I iron out wrinkles on a collage glued with matt medium?
Great question. I would test a small area of the collage at a lower heat. Too high of a heat could reheat the glue and cause a mess! Definitely proceed with caution
Can I use this method on a photo print?
Hmmm Im not sure about this but I can’t imagine why it couldn’t work. Just keep the heat setting on low
Did you use any water in the iron?
Hey sorry I'm late to the reply here. No water in the iron. I would recommend a spray bottle with water (sometimes the ones in the iron can spray unevenly). Hope that helps!
Does it work with Printmaking ink?🥲 will the ink melt because of heat?
I'm sorry, my English is not so good🥲
This is a great question. I can’t say for sure because it’s dependent on the print quality and process, which can vary
@@GinnyStLawrence Thank you so much💜
What was the hard surface you were working on?
Great question. I took out a wooden shelf that I don't use as my hard surface here.
can this be done with oil paintings??
No
Not sure how happy Emily Dickinson would have been being so close to a Jordan Peterson book...🤪
😂 facts
Love the Jordan Peterson book! I used to be weak and would get bullied so bad. I had horrible anxiety. Jordan Peterson, and others after finding him started me down a rabbit hole, completely changed my life. Now I make 6 figures, have a fantastic relationship with my dad, and the rest of my family, and I found confidence in the Lord, not what other people think... Also, thanks for helping me with the art. My mom is a FANTASTIC artist. I didn't appreciate her art when i was young, and I just folded it and threw it in a box☠️. So dumb, but you helped a lot!🙏🙏🙏
Anxiety is a real b*tch! I’m so happy you’ve found something that not only works for you, but it sounds like a whole new path for your life. 💪Impressive! Thanks for the comment and keep creating!
You lost me at the Jordan Peterson book LMAO
I am not a fan of the guy! I was gifted this book. Thankfully it came in handy as a prop. That's as much use as I will get out of it.
@markel anderson I think a blanket statement of "he's likely smarter than you" is a bit... off. Makes a lot of assumptions about someone you don't even know. Everyone relax on this book. it was a gift that I used as a prop.
Not the Jordan peterson ☠️
lol I know! I was gifted this book. It's been most useful as a prop (like used here) than a read. I'm not a fan of Jordan Peterson
@@GinnyStLawrencewhat an incredibly spineless, ridiculous reply. Artists should have balls, and you feel the need to justify why you own a book who's author is literally doing the exact same thing that you do. But because he doesn't fall into your circle of self proclaimed open-minded ( truly close-minded) individuals, you need to explain to a bunch of nobody's why you would own such a book. Pathetic
Wow! All the hate for Jordan Peterson. Artists are surprisingly closed-minded😂
Our world has a become quite polarized 😅 It’s wild to me how that became a focal point.
t's interesting to see half of the audience commenting on the subject matter,
while the other half are interested more in a book from a "Professor of Phycology
at the most prestigious "University in Canada."
Whom by the way, stood against a form of conscription, forced upon him & all Canadians for that matter! Now he's being condemned and for what, common rhetoric and hyperbole?
I noticed that. I'm not sure what the obsession with him is. I was gifted the book and given the weight and heaviness of it, I had a great use for it here. Being accused for "promoting him" feels silly, just trying to help folks flatten their paintings is all!
Yes.. his books are very heavy and make great pressure weights for flattening a painting. Thank for your video! 🌷
Eek. Well the advice was great but the Jordan B Peterson book? Highlighting internalized misogyny? 😬 Offputting free advertising for JP. Helpful art tips.
