    Re the mould on the bamboo base, either use an antifungal spray or bleach, it'll kill it and should restore the color (if you use bleach, test it first, it can alter the coloration on some wood types)

    I'm an experienced but still distinctly average sharpener so take these comments for what you will. When I saw these stones in Lidl I considered buying one just to see what it was like but I've got too many already. For the price they must be from one of the many budget Chinese manufacturers, no one else could turn them out for the price. Wooden boxes for water stones are only useful for storing the stones when they're dry, otherwise they're just their to look nice, add perceived value, and imitate oilstones. Use a proper one with rubber clamps held by together by metal rods or a silicone mat and always let your water stones dry thoroughly before putting them away. Budget stones are fine when you're starting out, you'll make mistakes and you won't wreck a quality Japanese model that costs many times more. You can graduate onto stnes made in Vietnam by one of the name brands or an actual Japanese one later. Learn your limits. I realised that I was never going to be good enough to warrant paying top of the line prices so stick with mid price Kings and similar. I simply don't have the hand control. On technique dont push into a cheap or otherwise soft stone unless you get good enough to hold a perfect angle, you'll blunt the blade or worse, score the stone which means having to reflatten it. Use all the surface of the stone, this delays though doesn't prevent hollowing and again needing to reflatten it. A good magnifying glass or pocket microscope is useful. Inspect your edges to check for imperfections and whether your bevel are even, it will help you correct mistakes you don't even realise you're making. Finally, practice, a lot. Use cheap knives that don't matter like low end trades knives from Morakniv or similar. Work on carbon and stainless steels as they respond differently.

      Thanks. Great tips. I do have a couple of practice knives. This seems to sharpen OK, but is a pain to use ( soaking, etc.). I may look for some diamond stones.

    Hello. I'd like to warn you that the pair of scissors on the jetsetter is considered a bladed item despite its tiny size. Most security agencies will not clear those for cabin carry. And even if they are allowed by some agencies, there's a huge chance that the agent present will Gollum it up. Best to just carry that kit without any multitool or get one with rounded scissors.

    Nice video! Just a note for you, if you’re worried about battery life don’t use the wireless charging option on the power bank. Wireless charging is only around 70-80% efficient, so under perfect conditions your 10k mah bank is only giving you 7-8k mah. Not a concern for daily use at home but might be on a long trip. Cheers!

    Ive been EDC'ing the Sofirn IF23 for a year or so now. As well as a great flashlight/torch it also doubles up as a power bank in an emergency. So you might want to add that in there as there looks to be a fair bit of space left over. I wouldn't drop the torch you have in there now though. 2 is 1, 1 is none. Just add it in. As it has Great runtime and several really useful features. in particular a COB area light in white and RGB. I only use the Red mode but it's great for not losing night vision the White mode is 500 lumens on turbo, but drops down to a very useable level for extra runtime. Also you might want to look at the InCharge X charging cable. Its very short but at the same time extremely practical, that way you could lose the 3 separate cables. I personally would carry a slim wall charger with a USB C-->C cable just for charging the power bank. Electrical Tape is also a must. So are large safety pins, add more cable ties. 2 is never enough. There's some folding scissors on Amazon that are way better than the Victorinox. You can find a small screwdriver set that will fit in the pouch too, all the bits store in the handle. I would also add a proper portable NVME drive in there. a 4tb can be had for a little over £200 now so you can use that for mass storage for movies and music on the go with your Iphone. Perhaps using a slightly larger pouch you could add in a portable router too. theres a number of very good ones out there. Just my thoughts, Regardds - Jim.

    What would be the legality of taking something like a SOG powerpint multitool, and grinding some of the tang/cam lock off on the two blades in the tool, so that they no longer lock? The blades would operate like a SAK, whereby there's some tension the blade to stop it swinging around, but the blade would not lock and you could fold it away without pressing anything. Very easy mod to do, and can be done without even disassembling the tool. The blades are also stored on the outside of the tool, not the inside like on a leatherman bond, so they will fold all the way in. Interestingly, leatherman advertises the bond as uk legal, but I don't think it is, because the blade is stored on the inside, so the frame of the tool stops it folding all the way in. Anyway, a modified SOG, to my mind, that would pass the legality test, as they are less than 3inchs long and do not lock. However its a modified tool, and the original tool has locking blades. I wonder how that would be viewed? The tool in question is legal, but the original design isn't? I guess there would have to be test case, and I don't want it to be me!

    • @MB_EDC
      @MB_EDC 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Your modification sounds OK. Not sure about three Bond. It doesn't have a lock as such, but as you say when deployed it cannot close fully..

    • @kristoffscuba5466
      @kristoffscuba5466 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@MB_EDC it’s a shame that one can’t ask the police if a modified SOG would be legal. Only way to find out for sure is to carry one, get stopped, see what a judge says if charged. Hardly a good idea. The SOG Powerpint (or powerlitre), modded to make the blade non locking, would be the perfect edc for me. Just want to be sure it’s legal.

      Fantastic... It's only a month and back in the day our fathers and grandfathers would have only had one knife! Which knife have you chosen?

    Got busy and missed y'all I only carried one knife for most of my life. When I lost it, I got another.

    Just sailed through Edinburgh Airport security with mine. It was in my EDC pouch. I was ready for the pouch to be pulled aside for inspection but was ready. Every info source - .GOV, CAA, airline etc spec this is carry on safe. See what happens on the return.

    Had to return both ones i bought , they really sucked , was crumbling while in use and got deep into stone ,really not worth enything

    • @MB_EDC
      @MB_EDC 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Did you soak them in water before use. This reduces the dust and improves the sharpening as the fine stone particles in a slurry with the water do most of the work

    The cutting boards I like to soak in oil-vegetable. You can soak the wood too.
