I managed to find a Hercules secondhand, it's AWESOME, I'm so lucky to have found it, because I work in electronics and the very long philips driver is fantastic for recessed screws 👍
Never seen the Money Clip before, great stuff! The discontinued ones I kick myself for not getting more of was the series with the scales the same as the old style German Army knife, a sort of grippy thick plastic. There was the Mauser and a few other brightly coloured ones. I really like those scales from a practical perspective but have to admit they weren't overly pretty. If I had a Victorinox then that was it I didn't buy more and I had 2.
I have grown weary collecting Barlow style knives. I needed something new and colorful. Then, one day, while scaring up my next folder, I came across a Wenger. I have a lot to learn, for example, the orange peeling blade. Since Victorinox assimilated Wenger, so without any difficulty, I can justify buying Victorinox too. Just hope this doesn't bleed over to expensive Wenger watches. I Subscribed and gave you a 👍
Thanks - I have a few videos in my Victorinox playlist you might like....Careful though they can become addictive...especially (for me) the alox versions!!!!
Thanks, and just to tell it, I have all 4 of them and didn't even know that they are discontinued. ;-( My favourite discontinued model is the Walker ... Cellidor, 0.2313
@@MB_EDC Yes, 'being forgotten' is maybe one of it's most characteristic properties. Next to 'most underrated'. But even though it is maybe the most forgotten and underrated model of the whole Victorinox history, I carry it (almost) daily with me ... 🤣
@@MB_EDC Yes but the rounded blade makes it nice for getting out peanut butter, jam and honey from a glass but makes it impossible to make a nice hole ... so unluckily, it is nothing for me as I am on diet but still carving ... 🤣🤣🤣 The first knive which I've got in my life came from my grandfather before I even went to school, has had two blades with two extra sharp tips ... and I've got it with a heap of band-aids. Which were highly required during the first weeks, of course. But I've no idea why a rounded blade should be much better for kids ... I always cut myself but never got a hurt from the tip 😁
I think the Executive should have a pen like the compact and instead of both can and bottle opener, have combi tool. Oh wait, that's the Compact. LOL Good vid.
We can actually buy second hand SAKs on etsy here in the UK. Last year I bought a 74mm Ambassador with woodland camo scales, which are actually very rare, I've only found one photo of a camo Ambassador on reddit somewhere. It cost me £10.
I like my SAK Outrider. The Hercules was $25 more, and the Champ was $40 more in the USA. Since the only extra tools on the Hercules are nail file and pliers, it wasn't worth the price. People might prefer the Champ or stick with the Outrider; both were better values. I have the others (except Executive). The money clip is really a great pocket/belt carry.
I believe the Hercules is still available in the US market (check out Victorinox US page). The tourist is just a 84mm Spartan, exactly same toolset. The Executive is my favourite, very useful toolset and size, great for social carry. The Money Clip has the same tools as the Ambassador, if you would prefer it without the money clip (and with toothpick, tweezers). Also with the same toolset, but smaller, are the Classic (58mm) and the Wenger/Executive 81 (65mm).
I hope Victorinox does not go from Money clip to Money Grab like Leatherman did. 😂 That Hercules side lock variant is rare now, buy some spare scales just in case.
Ah.. Yes.. This year it's the clear plastic scales.... Not as nice as the Alix version last year. Probably a good investment though. When they have sold out you may be able to still it for 2 or 3x the original cost.
Thanks for sharing about these rare SAK's, the money clip is really cool. 😎👌Take care my friend and Cheers!
Thanks Dave!!
Fantastic options there! Cheers, buddy!
Thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic options!! Glad you like the money clip still!
@@RandysWSG Of course I still love the Moneyclip!
I think the money clip is cool. Have a wonderful day today and enjoy the slip from randy he's a great guy
Thanks Jason. They were great gifts from Randy!
I have all four and I agree; they are all great SAKs. Thanks for sharing yours.
@@wvbeatlefan Thanks! I have a lot more SAK videos if you check out my channel.
Great video and topic! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Eric!!You are so welcome!
Ooh, that Hercules seems NICE! Thanks for profiling it.
My favorite obscure SAK is the S557.
Thanks! The Wenger Evolution is cool too. I don't have any Wengers...yet!
@@MB_EDCThe Wenger serrated scissors are fantastic if you've got facial hair or often cut fishing line👍
I definitely need to look out for them...thanks!!!!

Fantastic! The Phillips screwdrivers are awesome...

@@jelkel25 There are a lot on the second hand market. Not do easy here in the UK - but you can find them.

Thanks! I have the Walker as well and forgot to include it in this video...

But even though it is maybe the most forgotten and underrated model of the whole Victorinox history, I carry it (almost) daily with me ... 🤣
I get that. The “My First Victorinox” has the same tools as the Walker - but with the rounded main blade.

Agree totally. I bought a Recruit each for my three kids and within 10 minutes two came for band aids

Haha! The compact is on my wishlist. The executive is such a nice size though....

What a bargain....!!!!
You can't beat a SAK. I have an SD with my house keys, and usually one other close to hand.
I agree totally. Just be careful when flying. I plan to switch to a Jetsetter or Swisscard nailcare when I fly.

The outrider is an excellent SAK. I was actually looking for one of those when this second hand Hercules came up at a great price.

It is unclear if the newer version of the Hercules is still available. But I hope it is.
The one I like is the manager. It's discontinued. Has everything i need, I keep it in my car.
The manager is great. I carry the Midnite manager every day!
Why did they discontinue the hercules?
No idea. You can still get it on some websites...
I hope Victorinox does not go from Money clip to Money Grab like Leatherman did. 😂

Me too. I have not been a fan of some of their expensive style versions.
2024 Winter Magic came out today for $55 and I'm not in love with the look of the scales. Looks like it was made for 8 year old girls

Somebody told me that Victorinox used to produce a Waiter in 91mm. I will love to have one of those. Thanks, bro
Thanks! I think it was called the Waiter Plus - with the plus scales (pen, mini screwdriver and pin included)!
