I grew up in a log house in the woods and wanted my family to enjoy a similar lifestyle. We built our log house on 7 acres in 2016 and have been busy ever since turning it into our own paradise in the woods. We are always busy with outdoor projects and can hopefully provide some knowledge or ideas for our viewers. If you love the outdoors, diy projects, gardening, tractors, UTV's, firewood, chainsaws, or log home maintenance we think you will enjoy our channel.
Wolfe Ridge & Can-Am Make A Great Team!!!
#79 I am loading up the totes we built in the last video and splitting as much wood as possible. We have a big area to clean where the new equipment shed will go. Then we need to get some firewood split and stacked. I like splitting right into the bed of the Can-Am Defender. Drive it over to the log rack and stack it. This process is pretty efficient.

Wolfe Ridge 35 High Output!!! The Best Investment For Your Firewood Business!!!

#75. I am doing a walk around and demo of the Wolfe Ridge 35 High Output. This is my first commercial log splitter and it does not disappoint. If you are looking to grow your firewood business and speed up production time this is hands down the best investment you can make. There are lots of great commercial splitters out there. I went with Wolfe Ridge because of their dealer network. This is a...
Don't Buy A Tractor Based On The Size Of Your Property!
มุมมอง 5Kหลายเดือนก่อน
#74. This is a busy work day. I have a bunch of small projects to get done. This leads into a discussion about picking the right size tractor for the work around your property not the size of your property. I have a Kubota L3901 and it only gets used on 2 acres of our property. I could really use a bigger tractor. I go over the Wolfe Ridge log splitter that just arrived, do some brush cutting a...

Metal Totes, Why Did I Wait So Long To Try These!?!
มุมมอง 1.5Kหลายเดือนก่อน
#70. I decided to buy a few metal totes to try out. With the amount of wood I have left to split i am looking for any advantage i can get. Being able to split right into these totes and move them with the tractor really speeds up the whole process. But can the Kubota L3901 lift these? I could not lift the wooden totes i built which are the same spec as these metal ones.
One Year With The Hustler Fastrak! Was A Zero Turn The Right Choice?
มุมมอง 1.5Kหลายเดือนก่อน
#69 One year review on the Hustler Fastrak 54. How did it hold up and what issues did I have. This has been a good reliable mower for me. I only had two minor issues which were both easily fixed. It mow's great, handles my hills with no problem and has plenty of power. I am very happy with my first year of ownership.

I like your truck, I am looking at one like it also!
Thanks! Currently at 4500 miles and no complaints. Your channel has been a great resource for my firewood business. I appreciate what you do!
Nice shot on the camera! 😅 splitter is making fast work. Thanks for video!
That poor camera takes a beating
Stumbled up on your channel. New sub here 👍. Your land topography looks similar to ours, not much level land. Nice set up.
Thanks! I feel like I’m always trying to make more flat space.
@@cabinviewventures I feel your pain. Out of 15 acres, maybe 4 you can drive on.
Tym 474 looks like a great value
It's funny to watch your videos because mys etup at home is a Kubota tractor, Wolfe Ridge splitter and a Can Am Defender. Stay cool!
Does the tailgate on your defender jam every time you open like mine? Haha. That thing drives me nuts.
@@cabinviewventures No but my Ranger's does. That's probably because I backed into my dumpster with it LOL!
Haha that will do it
Good to see your checking moisture levels for your customers. I was taught when you check levels it needs to be a fresh split.
lol except the cheap Chinese parts good luck with that
wow as to the totes bought metal built my own boxes and lined them with cattle panels works very well i have 1/4 size create them 1/2 cord creates size too cheap for the homeowner to come and pick up their wood then is me to drop it off i don't stake any of the customer wood the 500 hundred dollar cash bills extra for me to stake their wood for them i have a customer for a long time they are happy to pick up their wood if it cheaper for them to them the customer you give extra to them and i do have non-season wood cheaper too they like the idea they can season their own wood for the use
i have old silage bunks i have piles of firewood drying in the silage bunks if i have called for a firewood bank the special bucket is up then i pale the cord of wood into the bucket other than that it's left there in the bunks i sell none season wood to cheaper the season wood on the customer part they have the right to season their own wood lol i do sell wood spice fore there season their own wood lol cheaper if they take the waste wood from the sawmill to my wood stove not caring what type of wood it is or where it is, to begin with, it burns the same as all wood does in my stove large pine split pieces burn the same as a 6x6 in my stove or in a fireplace if you don't have your chimney cleaned once a year you are really asking for trouble any way don't blame the type of wood you blame on a chimney fire blame your self not having the maintenance done
I bought one exactly like yours (same color) and have about 400 miles on it now. Gets about 13.5 all around. Rides a little hard with the recommended 60 front and 80 back tire pressures. I have reduced the rear pressure to 60 and it does ride better. Will be following on up dates to see if you have any problems. I'm with you, I would rather have latch tailgate. Keep us posted on the reliability of the truck and if you have any problems. The only thing I don't like is the high step in even with running boards. I am thinking about adding AMP electric step boads with will help with the step in, bit they cost about $2000, but I think they will be worth it. Keep us updated on your truck
Congrats on the truck! I think those big 34” tires hurt the mpg a little but well worth it. I’m only at 4500 miles, no issue yet and it drives really nice for a big truck.
Looks good!
Thanks!
Man I promise you that splitter is strong enough to push the wood off the end of the table lol. You don't have to use your energy to throw em all off
You have to throw them or you would be buried in wood in minutes, haha.
Congratulations on 1 year you've had great growth for sure!
Thanks!
Congrats on one year look forward to many more. The ibc totes are hard to find round the area for decent price I just live 40 min south of u I been very lucky in finding some near me at farms n such for free but I like ur home made totes
Thanks! I see a lot down in MD. I might need to just make the run one of these days and load up.
Nick the garden looks great. Congrats on the one year mark. I remember watching your first video. Keep it going my friend.
Greatly appreciated!!!
Premium won’t do shit, c’mon now 🤦♂️
Is that an Axis?

Looks like a beautiful morning there birds a singing🪵👍🏼
We are in a little valley with a stream. The wildlife love it. We even have Eagles that stop by every once in awhile!
My parents have a house that’s surprisingly similar to yours. Must’ve been built around same time period or something. They live on a green belt and deer come up all the time. One of my favorite memories when I lived with em was shortly after they got it there was a rundown gazebo type deal outside the side door. Looked out the window one morning to see maybe eight or so deer and a couple elk just chilling.
He feels safe near you ❤
And it sort of blends in.

Baby deer can't get up & walk right away after being born. So the mother leaves & comes back later to get them.❤
Nick nice to see you had the opportunity to upgrade to a commercial splitter. Your production will really go up my friend.
You can make a big pile quick! I’m already redesigning the log yard to make more space.
If i saw this, id be setting up my guard tower for operation bambi nap. No one needs to sleep or eat or use the bathroom while this sweet lil guy is being adorable
Priceless!!
What state are you in? (we live in south Michigan). How often do you need to fill the firewood stand? You are very organized, and your stand is really nicely made. Impressive.
Thanks! We are in south central PA. We have been filling the stand once a week. It’s slowing down now with the heat. Our nighttime temps are in the 80’s.
Hello there, just subscribed, it was 97 degrees here in northern Va. your design looks effective 👍🏼🪵🇺🇸
Thanks! I feel like I’m constantly working to make it more efficient.
Hot day out there. I’m in the south west PA area and the heat has been brutal this past week. Stay safe out there. Good progress on the wood yard expansion.
Thanks! I split for two hours this morning and the temperature gauge on the hydraulic tank was maxed.
Nice video what is the Model and HP of that Kubota?
Thanks! That’s a 2019 L3901. Just under 40hp.
Now that’s a splitter 😊 Better hire a helper to keep up with the log loading
Haha now my split wood just piles up in front of the splitter. Will need a conveyor next!
I’ve had three Silverado HDs in a row , 02,08, 017, great trucks, but the mileage is no longer tenable , I can’t reconcile 10 mpg anymore, bought a Toyota Tundra limited V6 twin turbo, great power and getting 18mpg average on regular , ever going back to that 10 mpg EVER
You really need a second vehicle if you own a 3/4 ton.
I have 30 acres of flat Southeast GA land and I bought a L4060 Grand L Kubota. I am wanting to get a RK21 subcompact to compliment some of the smaller lighter work I need to do. Especially cleaning and raking out the woods on my property where my much much larger 4060 wont fit so easy. However my next purchase Lord willing is going to be a Kubota 4 to 5 ton excavator. Anyways getting a tractor based on acreage is NOT wise. Get a tractor based on what you want to get done on that acreage. If you are going to do ass tons of mowing, get a shuttleshift or manual trans. If you are going to do tons of dirt work get a Hydrostat. If you are going to lift logs get a 40hp or bigger machine. If you are going to work on small garden work get a subcompact. But what ever you get ALWAYS get 4wheel drive and a loader with quick attach. never pin on bucket or 2 wheel drive.
I have heard from a few 4060 owners now and that’s what I was leaning towards. Glad to hear that’s been a good size tractor for you.
Just got quoted today this mower 8950 ain’t no way this is crazy
I got mine for $7,000 a year ago. Shop around
@@cabinviewventures i definitely will do that
I have a 2501, a 4060 and a case 435 skid steer. The 2501 won't lift much of anything but the 4060 will pick up a full tote. I'd be a little nervous stacking high but with good counter weight a full tote of green hardwood is about it's limit (comfortably) My skidsteer will pick up two of them LOL. It's is way more compact and obviously a better turning radius, it's a great machine but you can't mow or till or do any other tractor things with it.
Thanks for the comment. The 4060 is what I’m leaning towards. I figured it could move totes easily but you never know until you try. Once the business gets bigger I will look for a used skid steer.
why did you make this video? What was your intention?
I bought the husky 550xp Mark 2 a week ago. .. I absolutely love this 50cc saw. I'm considering buying another just because
Good choice!
Congratulations on the new splitter! You are going to need more wood now! Thanks for the video.
Thanks! I need more space also. Will be working on that in upcoming videos.
What’s your full time job?
I went to a 28c for the same time saving issue. Then I needed a conveyor to get the wood away fast enough. You will find more bottle necks but that looks like a heck of a machine!
Haha yep! I have a big pile of firewood in front of the splitter now.
I have a 2018 2501. Same issue with lift capacity. Raised hydraulic pressure by 250 psi. Made enough diferance to make it usable. I can pick a ibc tote cage of wood high enough to stack onto another cage now. Tires are loaded with beat juice and I have a box blade with a 30" round 6' wide oak log on it. I can pick up enough to still get a little light in the rear evan with all the ballast. Mines been this way for 200 hours. So far no issues. Try it might save you from getting another machine. Also skid steers are great. But the limited view vs a tractor is definitely a negative. Plus the extended reach of a tractor loader is really nice loading a truck bed or trailer. not being able to get out if a skid stere when you have a lifted load like you can with a tractor is a big negative.
Thanks! I have heard from a few Kubota owners who have used the shim kit to raise hydraulic pressure
not to say I wouldn't love the capacity of the larger mx or l47. but it was very hard to justify spending almost or double the amount i did on the 2501. The size is nice for me cause I spend allot of time in the woods with it. But if you can swing it a larger machine would be fun. Good luck with whatever you decide.
I used a skid steer to clear out blow downs on fairly flat 9 acres. Later I went to a tractor. I miss the maneuverability of the skid steer, I liked being so close to the forks and bucket. The tractor has better ground clearance and cheaper 3 point attachments. I suggest you keep the tractor, find a used skid steer.
This is definitely a tough decision. Pros and cons to both. It would be nice to have both the tractor and skid steer
25 aces for me L6060
You need a better tractor
hi handsome, great channel, have you considered a 2024 ditch witch sk3000? or a Ventrack 4520?
I did but they cost more than a tractor, haha.
All the 20 series Branson tractors will lift 2700 lbs and are cheaper than Kubota .
I went rops because I was trying to save money, and I also went with manual transmission because when you're brush hogging hydrostat takes power away, but honestly the manual isn't really that hard to shift plus it has a forward and reverse so you can quickly go between
I would love to have a cab but don’t want to spend that extra $10k right now.
Yeah same here, kubota is having their orange days right now and it's 0% intrest for 60 months and 0 down on the mx, that's why I jumped on it because you can't beat that
Choosing betweeen this, a Ferris 600 and a Bad Boy Maverick hd.
Those are all great choices. I would say pick the dealer you like most.
