Toyota Tundra Build. Off-Road Adventures.
How to Build a DIY Truck Camper Interior From Scratch - Four Wheel Campers Project M
In this video I convert my empty Toyota Tundra truck bed camper into a fully functioning camper with cabinets, power, a sink, microwave and running water. Using 80/20 aluminum extrusion, birch plywood and bamboo countertops. This DIY truck camper build was a lot of work but I am very happy with how it turned out. This upgrade has added another level of comfort in our Four Wheel Campers Project M topper that will allow us to continue exploring far off the highways with ease and added comfort. Whether we are exploring National Parks, barren deserts, or costal campgrounds we are sure to be enjoying our time with these new features.

In this video I install a Dickinson P9000 propane heater in my Four Wheel Campers Project M. This heater has a unique feature where it draws in and exhales all air and fumes to the exterior. It does not create any condensation on the interior of the camper unlike most propane style heaters. I also appreciate the fact that I will not have to deal with carrying diesel fuel around for the ever pop...

Picking Up The V2 Go Fast Camper For My Toyota Tundra
Thanks for the inspiration, I built myself a drawer after watching this and thinking about it for about a year. Made a short video of it. Check it out!
You guys are a super cute couple. Ive seen aa bunch of Half Dome videos but i’m more interested in your camping rig :) It is super super nice! Good luck to you two hope you’re still together ❤
Thank you and appreciate ya watching. I do have some other videos about my rig and more coming soon that you should check out. Haha and yes together still…..It’s been 17 years and counting.
Nicely done!!
Awesome build, I’m in the process of doing something similar in a slide in, got the 80-20 but cannot decide about door material, looking at yours, may i asked what is the material you are using?
Dude, you do have major skillz. Thanks for showing everyone what can be done.
Thank you! Appreciate it and thanks for watching.
Simply amazing craftsmanship!
Appreciate it and thank you for Watching.
Seems like the worst part in the slippery rock. I would wear rockclimbing shoes to do it
That was by far the worst part. Like walking on a polished granite kitchen counter top. Thanks for watching.
Nice build but why not just buy a slide in camper?
Thanks. Way heavier. Way more $$$. Loose the truck tail gate. Unable to make it “my own”. I like doing all this stuff and a slide in is already done, nothing to make unique for my vehicle.
You did an outstanding job bravo.👏 I love the choices on everything great simplistic set up.😎👍
Thanks a lot, appreciate the comment!
Congrads! Ya'll had the Best View in the Entire State of California!!!👁💪⛰🏔
It was pretty unbelievable. Thanks for watching.
Wow, turned out sweet, nice work👍👍
Thank you appreciate it.
Beautiful Job! 👍 Thanks!
Beautiful work very detailed
Thank you and appreciate ya watching
New subscriber from Miami
Thanks for subscribing and welcome to the channel! 🙏
31:25 you have a link for These switches? The one i have has light 24/7 😒
The link for it is the description. It’s possible yours is able to be wired like mine. Mine had four wires off the back and I could do light always, light only when button is pushed, or never light up at all depending on which wire I have positive wire to.
😮👌🏼🔥🔥🔥
Thank you! 🙏🙏
Great work, excellent explanation and insights. Thank you.
Thank you and appreciate ya watching
Nice Job!
Thanks a lot.
Now your stuff. Must. Fit in your build- wheras I have different sized storage containers,in different places- just want people to think about it,and use it.- B4 building. If it works for u, great. It's all I could do,also, to have the dogs bed,a chair, and the heater. I'll velcro my containers to the shelves, a sink would take up space also- that's in a 8 ft bed. 😊 everyone do what you want. All good.
Yeah it's all about personalizing your build to work for you!
Amazing!
Thank you 🙏
Hey, are you in Orange County?
San Diego
Impressive!
Thank you. Appreciate ya watching.
Very nice job well done
Appreciate it. Thanks for watching.
Congrats in finishing your interior! Beautiful work and the camera work 🙌🏽 Enjoy your rig and happy holidays to you and your family my friend.
Thank you so much! Merry Christmas to you too!
Great videos my friend!!
Looks great guy! Nice job
Appreciate it!!
Superstars! 🗻 🕊 🦅
What do you do about moisture trapped on the soft side and how do you prevent it from mildewing?
Fantastic. I learned so much. I'm curious what the width of bench, counter and floor space? Also the height of bench. Thanks
Thanks a lot! Benches and counters are all 18” deep. Floor/hallway area ended up about 34-35” wide.
Very nicely done. And good video.
Thank you appreciate ya watching.
Water near electrical….interesting
Google said it will be fine 🤷♂️
@overlandfx4 here. Beautiful build man! Remind me of when i built mine. Next level stuff guys! 🎉🎉
Thank you appreciate it!
That looks amazing but how far over payload capacity are you now? I have a Tundra with a GFC pop up camper and only the lightest camping items and it is right at the payload with passengers and dog included.
Oh I’m way over. Was over before this buildout. With full skid plates and steel bumpers, spare water and fuel etc. but I’ve don’t the upgrades to handle it. Massive big brake kit, re geared, Suspension etc. I was 8600 before so I bet I’m 9k lbs now.
Really nice work, thanks for listing parts used. Great video!
Thanks for watching and you’re welcome
Best diy build I’ve seen. You’re an inspiration and than you for the build list!
Thank you so much, that means a lot! Glad the build list is helpful.
Such a rad build. Really enjoy watching your videos. Let’s get 4WC trip with others from SoCal! 🤙🏽
Appreciate it, and I’m down! I have a couple other trips on the books already but maybe we can all get a spring time thing planned and thats far enough out maybe a bunch of people could go
@@prospectoverland That would be great! I'll dm you on IG sometime
Nice work!
Thank you!
Awesome write up and excellent craftsmanship! I'm glad you made this video after seeing your post on FB. It costed me around the same amount to customize my build out with the 8020, wood, hardware etc.. The spare tire water tank was a great idea. If I had known about that, I probably wouldve done the same to maximize the storage space below and keep the weight of the vehicle more centered! Great job man!
Thanks for checking it out and you have a first hand appreciation for building something along these lines. I had been looking at a million different shape tanks and sizes to fit on the inside then i came across this spare tire tank and instantly knew this was the winning ticket. They had just released this 14 gallon because they had previously had a 6 gallon for a while. Thanks for watch.
40 hours to build is nothing compared to the 100's of hours you must have put into planning it all out. Great job! I have a loaded up FWC (about 10 years now). Project M didn't exist when I bought mine. It will be interesting to see what your final build weighs in it at. You will get a ton of use out of your outside pressurized water line. We use ours more than the sink. I hope you built it up high enough to fill bottles, pots etc. I like how you aren't afraid to drill holes in your truck. Screw keeping it stock for the next guy and not getting the value out of it yourself. I look forward to the final build. Four Wheel Campers might be cannibalizing the sales of their loaded up units when people get a look at your quality DIY build. The extruded aluminum is awesome. Easy for you to make changes to down the road if you need to as well.
Haha so true, couldn’t even begin to calculate all the Google and Amazon searching for parts and pieces, Scrolling through the 80/20 websites etc. I’m going to weigh it and get a new rear leaf pack built in January. It was 8600 lb before the buildout full loaded for a week long trip. I expect it to be around 9k now. I do end up doing most of my dishes and cooking all outside. I have a hose I attach and take it around the corner so I don’t make mud at the tailgate 👍. Thanks for watching
Cover those eyes if you want to keep them ...
Will do, thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great info!
Thanks for watching Mike.
🔥🔥🔥 It looks even better in person! I’m envious of your patience.🙂
Thanks Mike! Hope to see you both soon.
Nice! Where did you buy the ac plug, usb-c panel thingy??
Thanks! Amazon. Links are all in the description.
Like what ya did
Thank you!!
Nice and clean 👌
Thanks, appreciate it.
One of the nicest I’ve seen bud!
Thank you, I definitely tweaked out on it haha
Awesome build, great job
Appreciate it!
You have amazing attention to detail. Those little things make all the difference. Looks great!
Thank you, I appreciate the comment!
Sure seems like it would’ve been easier to attach that flooring material to the wood before you started building the shelving system. One big sheet you could’ve just rolled on and then flipped it over and cut the edges. Looks good though.
Agreed, would have been easier, but I wanted the aluminum frame sitting flush with the raw wood surface verse spanning between the high points of each coin bump on the flooring and leaving air gaps for dirt to get under the aluminum. Thanks for watching
Nicely done.
Thank you
