  • This trip takes us up to the Sierra Mountains into the Kings Canyon National Park and the Sequoia National Park. We went mostly for the hiking and cool weather which did not dissapoint. Our favorite hike was 10+ miles to Mist Falls in Kings Canyon. Moro Rock in Sequoia had incredible views. We camped inside the national park which went okay but busy campgrounds made this not the best part of the trip. The views, amazing trees, landmarks and good camp cooking made up for it.

    I really dig the camp cooking part. Always nice to see others’ recipes and cool setups. Bummer about the campsite crowds, but sometimes you have to do it. Look forward to the next trip vid!

    There are a bunch of free campsites inside Sequoia NP along Forest Route 14S11. Last time I was there, I camped at Eastern Big Meadow Road Camping Area. I had the whole campground to myself. The Campendium app shows where all the free campsites are.

      Thanks! I’ll check those out for sure next time. I tried Campendium but I must have not been looking at it correct or had a filter/setting messed with.

I have a similar white Tundra and love it! Can't wait to take the adventures like you. We are more mid west so west coast is a bit hard for us but its in the future.

Good luck with the build out. If you have Tundra questions along the way hit me up on Instagram, much easier to respond back.

    I was at Sheep Creek earlier in September too. Nice campsite but every time we would start cooking anything wasps started swarming us. Idk if we were right under a wasp nest or wtf, but it got so bad we had to start cooking and eating inside our tent, which while cozy, wasnt ideal. That and the family next to us had like 13 people in a single campsite and their kids kept cutting through our campsite playing tag. Easy to ignore I guess but pretty annoying after a while.,

    • @prospectoverland
      @prospectoverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      we had a couple of those "sugar" bees, not sure what they are really called, the ones that are attracted to food but don't sting. But it wasn't too big of a deal luckily. you must have caught them just at the right time.

  • @joecaum

    No shame in staying at actual campgrounds occasionally. Sometimes it's just easier and closer to what you want to do. Real restrooms are a bonus too!

    • @prospectoverland
      @prospectoverland  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah the bathrooms are nice for sure and proximity to what we were doing was convenient. The first night at sheep creek was very peaceful with river sound in the back. Second night, not so much.

      It came from @Vrnclrewnstorage with double sided tape, I think 3m brand, already affixed to the bag. It’s held up to the heat just fine for me.

  • @miahernandez9933

    What time do you recommend to start any of hikes? or to even beat the crowds and actually finding a parking 😅

    • @prospectoverland
      @prospectoverland  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For the main general Sherman tree area it has a massive parking lot. So no worries with that but if you want it less crowded the earlier the better for sure. I think we made it there at maybe 8 or 9 am. But it’s got plenty of space and very tourist spot.
      When we hiked kings canyon it’s a very small parking area and it’s always more enjoyable with less people on the trial so early. We got there at sunrise.
      Driving under/through the fallen tree was an absolute zoo! I wouldn’t even bother with it unless you are willing to wait in a line of cars that want to take a picture.
      The meadow we went to…I forget the name sorry, no one seemed to go there. It wasn’t busy when we arrived in the morning and still wasn’t when we left. That was my favorite part. Hopefully my video said what the meadow was.
      The tall rock climb was cool but man I hate heights so it wasn’t my cup of tea. Amazing view though if you aren’t afraid of heights.

    What are the fire restrictions like in Kings Canyon/Sequoia right now? I know it says Stage 2 Fire Restrictions on all their websites but I'm wondering if they are allowing fires after going up far enough.

    • @prospectoverland
      @prospectoverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry I can't say for certain, but I know on my dates and trip I used a propane fire and some people were burning wood. I would say its safest to just call the local ranger station or visitor center maybe and ask.

  • @tylerdurden6937
    @tylerdurden6937 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you use a propane fire pit due to the restrictions on camp fires in the parks?

    • @prospectoverland
      @prospectoverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah seems like every agency’s limits real fires so I just don’t bother with it any more. Everyone is cool with propane.
