    This genre is country rock. The genre was developed in the LA music scene of the late 60s and early 70s. It's rock songs played with country instruments. If there had been a group photo of the musicians that developed the genre Linda would have been front center. Linda has an amazing and diverse catalog. You'll find yourself in a rabbit hole of immense proportion. Bonnie Raitt says Linda in the 70s and 80s is like Beyonce is now. She's the first queen of rock, the first female singer to sell out stadiums and arenas, the first female to have 3 consecutive platinum albums and she didn't stop till she accumulated 8 in a row. Then what does she do? She goes to Broadway to do Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance and earned a Tony nomination.

    The reason this sounds familiar to MJ is that Quincy Jones produced this song. I saw the Brothers Johnson open for Quincy during the 70's. Background vocals on this song include Michael Jackson, Valerie Simpson (from Ashford and Simpson) and Merry Clayton, who sang with Joe Cocker and the duet with Mick Jagger on Gimme Shelter. The band was the two brothers on guitar and bass. Definitely need to hear: Get The Funk Out Ma Face, Strawberry Letter 23, and I'll Be Good To You. They're amazing!

    First time I heard this song I was a fan for years already. This was released in 1977 so probably first heard it on FM radio, was married and fixing up my first house, a 2-family in Middlesex, NJ. Linda Ronstadt is still with us but suffering from Parkinson's disease. Her incredible vocal abilities and her love of music resulted in so much greatness for us to enjoy, including rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin music (mariachi). As was the case with most young heterosexual men back in the day I was totally in love with Linda.

    Ill give you just 2 reasons theyre labled the GODS of rock and the legends follow. - Led Zepellin has sold over 250 million ALBUMS. Not one hits but ALBUMS. Big stars today celebrate just selling one hit at 20 million sales. Try 250 million! Only in their best dreams. Another example - Led Zeppelin had a reunion concert in the early 2000s. Older men now. There were only 18,000 tickets at the venue. 20 million people tried to aquire one. All 4 of them are considered to be the best in rock history. Lead guitar base singer drums (RIP John Bonham) They have 2 genres Rock amd Rock/Blues. The whole group amd especially Robert Plamt (the singer) was heavily influenced by famous blues singers). The Kennedy Center honered them in 2023 giving them medals and having a concert celebrating them. President Obama n Michelle, senators, A-listers, rappers, you name it were there. That one is also viral and so amazing. Led Zeppelin watches as the singer from thr Group HEART sings Stairway to Heaven. Dont see that one on your page either. Hope your still doing reaction videos. Best!

    This is a music video. Not a movie. The album version has a bit less extra talking n noise. Its an awesome song with a wicked beat. Those bars are the lyrics to their other wicked song Money. The beat on that one is banging too. Money was their other big hit. Should do a reaction to it if you havent already. Im new and subscribed. Led Zeppelin brought me to your page. ❤

    This song isn't actually about murder (well in a way it is). It was a metaphore about doing drugs and aids. A few years later (around 1982) when Freddie caught HIV from a guy here in NYC during the aids pandemic and then passed away, this song ironically suited that as well. I tear up n cry everytime I watch Freddie on stage n thank God we have these videos at least. Another ironic thing is in the lyrics he says "So you think you can love me and leave me to die". Little did Freddie Mercury know that those lyrics would become his fate. The song was wrote in the 70s and Freddie had his fate sealed in the early 80s. Back then aids was new and scientists were scrambling to fight a cure or some medicine to keep you alive. If you contracted aids back then it was a death sentence. Over 250,000 New Yorkers alone died (including 4 friends of mine and my best friemd Tracey).. It came fast n furious like the corona virus did in 2020. People were taking up to 75 medications a day trying to stay alive turning into skeletong, bodies cover in lesions and most dying from pneumonia (complications due to a low immune systen/Aids). Today they have a shot or one pill a day like Biktarvy that keeps HIV victims alive allowing people to live full normal lives. This is why many weep when watching Freddie. He was a very shy and kind person who was handed a death sentence undeservingly and far too soon. ❤

    Elvis Presley called this problem out in the late 1960s. He KNEW cause he lived it. This performance is from 1970. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!? EXACTLY what Elvis is talking about here is STILL HAPPENING, and is spreading.

  • @depper
    @depper 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Even Sammy Davis wouldn't touch this song in the race riot-filled 1960s. But Sammy told the songwriter Mac Davis that he knew a man that SHOULD sing this song because he understood THAT LIFE better than he did, Mr Elvis Presley. Elvis was born first grew up in a SHACK with NO RUNNING WATER and NO ELECTRICITY. Played and prayed with black children and families. His mother make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for his friends who were primarily black. Elvis called his friends' black parents and grandparents MR and MRS. --- White folks down south never did that. Elvis was FAMILY in the black community he grew up in Tupelo Mississippi and Memphis Tennessee. See Elvis was so popular that he became a meme, BUT THE MAN, no he was the exact opposite. NO entertainer was as brave as Elvis in this era. MLK got assassinated. John AND Robert Kennedy got assassinated. Malcom X got assassinated. What did they have in common? CIVIL RIGHTS. So Elvis was a PRIME TARGET at this time. What did Elvis do? His label, RCA and a top RCA executive said they can't release "IN THE GHETTO" because of the then current racial and social tensions. Elvis heard it and said, "That's my next single, son" and walked away. Only Elvis was willing to risk his career to get that record on the air-waves. Only Elvis could have performed it and gotten the radio play when it came out in the late 1960's, during the Civil Rights Movement. He made it his platform. One of his major public statements on the issues of racism and poverty in America. Without uttering a single press release or public statement. Not a single political word or comment. Amazing power of song by a very brave and loving human being that never got, nor asked for credit. That's what you call A TRUE REBEL.

I can understand the part about really connecting and gaining wisdom - so you do you. But I can also tell you that I wish there were more TH-cam reactions to lesser known current musicians. I might get s**t for this but I think often the most popular current musicians are not the best but so many who aren't really famous are killing it ... but unless you're working hard to find them out you don't know them. One group that comes to mind for me is St. Paul and the Broken Bones. Other favorites I have are Blood Orange and Michael Kiwanuka. I'm definitely in the older age group but I'm also looking for newer music. I think there are lot of people here on your channel who might appreciate this ...
