Lets go thx for reacting to my suggestion man !! btw as soon as the group era ended, the FIA put in order new rules that would get the spectators on "safe" of the stage, and the cars weighs more, with less power, as of today the cars are way more safer then back then, if you'll react one day to a WRC crash compilation, you'll see that in 90% of crashes the drivers are fine, 25% of the time cars will be able to keep going after a crash
The small production requirements actually took money out of the equation for the most part, it was more down to who had the best engineers. Oh and Audi has been around since the very early 1900s, they have built racing cars for around 100 years. The first group B cars were around 250-350BHP but by the end cars like the Lancia Delta s4 were pushing nearly 1000BHP and weighed less than a ton
I saw these monsters live in Rally of the Thousand lakes in Finland back in 1985. You could hear brutal noise of Audis miles before they passed by. Speed they drove was totally unbelievable. Even though today's rally cars are way faster, group B felt somewhat more raw.
Rally today is probably the safest high speed motorsport around with very few fatalities. Rally cars are very safe and audience members today are much better behaved than they have been. I watched a rally here in Denmark. There were maps of the stage marked where it was safe to spectate, neutral areas where it's probably safe to spectate, and red areas assumed to be very dangerous. Don't pick a dangerous spot to spectate from and you'll be about as safe as anywhere else near moving cars.
now a days you can only see rally in certains safe places , still somewhat close to the road but in a place that it will be a very low to no risk accident place
When i was just 9 years old my dad started to take me to see the rally Portugal I can remember the adrenaline of watching those cars!! Now i understand why portuguese men live considerably less than woman😅!

Nothing alike isn't true. Cars had to based on street cars, so only 99,99% were different parts. Audi's roof was from the road car because that was the only straight piece of sheet steel.
Audi Quattro - 4 wheel drive system. Maserati Quattroporte - 4 door (as opposed to coupe). Group B, 90 miles an hour? Over 130 mph more like. After Group B was banned it took two years for Group A cars with half the horsepower to set faster stage times, mainly due to advancements in tyre and drivetrain technology. Never heard of Peugeot? May God bless America.

That 90 mph is the average speed of one rally car. A driver can reach a breakneck speed of 155 mph in a rally car that has over 300-500hp. Rally is not for the faint of heart my guy.
No rally car has ever done 155 mph. Top speed of Group B was around 220 km/h. Today's rally cars have a top speed of around 195 km/h. And they only reach those speed on long stretches, with no corners. The average speed for a stage, varies from 85 km/h to 130 km/h.

You need to watch actual Group B footage with the raw sound of the cars. They are mesmerizing to see
Yea I wish it had more actual sound of the race. SUPER informative but still lol
Comparing the crowd's behaviour to the running of the bulls is accurate IMO. Crazy stuff.
Maybe it's all thrill seeking but there's gotta be better alternatives lol

People try to end Group-B sooner, but the FIA didn't want that.

Those cars were doing 130 MP/H+ not just 90😂
Only on long stretches. 90 mph was a decent guess. The average speed for a stage is around 85-130 km/h.
Did you notice these vehicles are street legal and have license plates? They race on public roads therefore have to be street lega 😎
