Any time you hear (birth) brothers singing, the harmonies are perfect. (Think Every brothers.) Not to get gross, but their larynx’s, nasal cavities, pronunciations, etc. are all in unison! 👏👏👏

I just watched their 2020 documentary on HBO and the brothers said this song was about survival during the Son of Sam serial killer days in NYC. People mistake it for a dance song because of the beat but it's literally about trying to stay alive! :) I could be getting my info mixed up but seriously if you are becoming a Bee Gees fan, you should check out that doc, it's called BEE GEES: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart.

The oldest and biggest music festival in the UK is Glastonbury. Every 3 day festival features, in a mid afternoon on Sunday slot, a set from a "Legend". A couple of years ago they had Barry, the only BeeGee still alive. The crowd was massive and so, so into it, the man was truly moved. It was a lovely thing to see. I'm not sure if it's available online but it's worth searching for, because it was a great set and it was gorgeous seeing how moved Barry was by the appreciation of the crowd. It was properly wholesome!
Wrong. The oldest music festival is Reading Festival which was originally called National Jazz and Blues Festival and which started in the 60's. Glastonbury didn't start until the first one in 1970. It is the biggest though you so are half right.
When this song was released back in 1977 I was in the Air Force stationed in Okinawa. I was blown away by this song when I first heard it on my little radio while on the flight-line because it reminded me of my day’s growing up in Brooklyn, NYC. I still play it today, how could I not. The Bee Gee’s were great back then and into the 80’s, and for sure they’ll go down in history as one of the best groups ever. Thank you so much for your reaction to this great song. My Dad retired after 30 years in the Air Force and we were at Naha 1966-68. Nice to see Okinawa mentioned! Thanks for your service, I have a good idea what military life entails and appreciate your efforts to support our country. Hope you had a good time on Okinawa; we were in junior high at the time and have pretty incredible memories of the experience. Barry Gibb, in my opinion, has the best falsetto voice ever, & what makes it so incredible, is that in his falsetto, he also used his vibrato, which is very rare! They also had a 4th younger Brother who did his own solo thing, his name was Andy Gibb. Bee Gees is one of those groups where when I grew up I knew all of the lyrics because my parents had their records playing in the house when I was 6 and up. I assume they saw Saturday Night Fever in 77 and like many bought the soundtrack, which has a lot of the Bee Gees greats on there. I know a lot of songs from the 70s greats for the same reason...my parents spinning records and dancing throughout the house (Abba, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, etc.) Great review. I love your enthusiasm for music and the insights you offer to music production.

Due to his night vibe I always thought this video would be shown on a disco or on a street with neon lights and until today , although I like the video, I think it doesn't match with that night feeling. Some years later I saw the "Night Fever" video and thought that was the video that would match perfectly with Stayin Alive but probably the Bee Gees didn't want to repeat themselves and that's why one video is on day light and another on night life. I was about 7 when this came out. Listening to it now I have the urge to walk down the road carrying a tin of paint. (A reference to Saturday Night Fever). It is impossible to walk normally whilst listening to this on headphones, you just have to go with the bass line and beat.

I will give you the honest answer! I had to think about it for a while but, the first time I heard this song, the entire (teenage) neighborhood had gotten a hold of some shrooms (because there's lots of cows where we live, anyway,) we were all wasted out on a floating dock on a lake called Lake Aurora

I’ve been listening to The Bee Gees since the 60’s. This song is off the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack which was the second most sold in history. They’re sound is iconic. Sadly only lead singer Barry is still alive. Try You Should Be Dancing. Thx

Hey Above, That's better than under the influence. In my late teens, the late '70's, I took my Niece's who are four and five years younger, to see Saturday Night Fever, which starred John Travolta. It was rated 'R', and, surprisingly, they got in to see it, in the then little town of Renton, Washington, state, which was not far from Seattle. Be good, in all ways, best, C.

They did a tour in 1979 that I now so wish I had experienced.
