I was born one week after Freddie Mercury in 1946 and first heard Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975 when it was released. Today it is still as fresh as the day I first heard it. Rest in peace Freddie. It is thought that the man he killed in the song is his previous self when he came out as being gay to his mother.
Freddie Mercury liked opera and wanted to do a rock opera. Later in his life when he was ill and dying of AIDS he wrote the song Barcelona and sang it along side famous opera soprano Montserrat Caballe.

Welcome to the Queen ride. For safety, keep arms and hands in vehicle at all times. (P.S. The very beginning was Freddie harmonizing with himself. You'll never hear that part live because it's recordings of Freddie only).
Happy birthday!! Freddie was a freakin' genius!! The recording of “Bohemian Rhapsody” took three weeks and featured 180 overdubs of vocals and instruments. Since the studios of the time only offered 24-track analogue tape, it was necessary for the three to overdub themselves many times and "bounce" these down to successive sub-mixes. In the end, eighth-generation tapes were used. May recalled placing a tape in front of the light and being able to see through it, as the tape had been used so many times.

That is why the different genres with highs and lows. Freddie was a genius. Brian May on lead guitar has a PhD in Astrophysics. They are legendary.
You mentioned Beethoven... if you want to SEE such a performance by Freddie check out White Queen live at the Odeon in 1975. I compare it to more Mozart but 6 of one half dozen of another. But truly a rock concert audience is watching a classical pianist perform and we're DIGGIN' IT !!! Where was I 1st time hearing/seeing this video??? My mom's basement (rec room) as an adolescent watching this new show called MTV .... and I didn't know if I was afraid of Freddie or enchanted by him (when he's big on the screen alternating between him and Roger)... definitely mesmerized!
My all-time favorite band. This song came out the year I was born. I consider myself pretty eclectic in my musical tastes, but Queen just is beyond genre and beyond compare. They're as untouchable as Michael Jackson.
I was 17 years old, in my brother's bedroom with 4 huge speakers surrounding the room. We got real stoned, cranked it up, and lay in the middle of the room while the sound flew around, and through, us. I strongly suggest this!
Freddy worked on his voice, he had a 3 octave range. You know how to reach success? When preparation meets opportunity. When opportunity does hit you better be ready, grab it and don’t let it go.
This song combined choral music (like gospel), opera, rock, blues, and broadway musicals in one performance. That is very hard to do and especially this well.
The body of the lyrics was something Freddy had been working on since his youth... it started out as a western movie set type thing in an opera style and evolved into this. :)
You HAVE to see their 20 minute session at the Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium in London. It was a worldwide concert on television to raise money for starving children. They are known as the best 20 minutes of any band in history.
The first time I remember hearing this, I think I was around seven or eight years old. This would have been around '83 or '84 or so. My older brothers were teaching me how to play poker and my oldest brother had the Queen Greatest Hits on cassette and was playing on the his little boom box. I definitely remember hearing this song. However, at that age, I remember my favorite songs from that cassette being Bicycle Race, Killer Queen, and We Will Rock You. Bohemian Rhapsody seemed almost too crazy, but of course, it grew on me.
Yeah, I was 3 when this dropped. Both my parents loved music, hoards of records on rotation almost constantly, or the radio on. My dad was even a band director. This sort of stuff was always playing in my house.
If you want to know more about this song, check out the mini doc Inside The Rhapsody, it is in 3 parts. 1) Brian May (lead guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums) talk about how it came about and the reaction to it. 2) Roger talks about making the video, which was groundbreaking in it's day. 3) Brian walks you through the master tape and how the tracks were laid down. It's fascinating stuff.

If people aren't mentioning Queen in the top 10 all time rock bands they're just uneducated. This was released on Halloween, 1975. I was almost 16, young n dumb. My friends and I honestly thought it dumb, because of the operatic part. We were all about Zeppelin, Floyd, AC/DC, The Who etc. etc..This just couldn't BE real rock to us at the time. Like I said "young and dumb" because it's obviously one of the all-time Rock greats. Great reaction and Happy Birthday!
Im with you on this. Same age but i loved Queen from the beginning and my friends were like you, they didnt get it. We went to see them at MSG during the Day at the races tour like a year later and they were hooked!
You should listen to Queen Live in Montreal, Live Aid, 1981-Somebody to Love. Freddy Mercury and all the band members are British but you can't hear their accents when they sing. Robert May, the lead guitarist, still plays the electro guitar his father made when Robert May was growing up because he couldn't afford to buy one.
Freddie was Indian and it lent a lot to their music! He loved Opera....& it shows! Some of the names in the operatic part are from childhood Indian stories. I love the arrangements in this piece! It's basically three songs in one...& the concert is suddenly over! lol. Love the Beethoven line! They had a hard time with the music industry over how long this song is! lol. A school dance! lol.
I was driving to work at McDonalds in 1976, and I remember hearing this on the car radio....I was 16. As much as I like this tune, I had already bought the previous album Sheer Heart Attack, which to this day is my favorite Queen album as they rock a bit harder on that album. I caught this tour in Detroit at Cobo Hall that year. For the middle part, Queen would leave the stage and then come back as they could never replicate the "opera" part. A band called Thin Lizzy opened for them and had a hit "The Boys Are Back In Town" that summer. Great reaction! You are great!

I've watched lots of reactors, many good, but you're the one I especially enjoy. You have a great appreciation of music and there's something very kind about you that comes out over the 'tube'. You also keep your comments visual or brief until the end of the song. Superb and well done! Happy Birthday my friend and thank you for bringing us the best!
Please check out “Dragon Attack” Live at Montreal or in “In The Lap of the Gods” Live at the Rainbow 1974 ❤️ Great reaction. The first time I heard Bohemian Rhapsody had to be on the radio when I was a kid. I heard Freddie’s voice-- and Queen stole my heart right about there.
First time I heard this was at a birthday party at a skating rink I'm guessing about 1975 saw one of the prettiest girls ever skate a dance to this on roller skates and I was so infatuated with her that I bought the album at my local record store the next weekend. And no I didn't get the girl she was like 17 and I was 11 lol 😆.
Happy birthday and really enjoy your reactions If Beethoven did rock, just love that line you said 😎 Queen are considered one of the all time bands in history, sadly Freddie Mercury passed away much to soon from us. just a few of their more popular songs to consider by queen We are the champions Another one bites the dust We will rock you Fat bottomed girls Wishing you and your family a safe and healthy 2021
Exactly lol, and 99% of the people on here just take part in the illusion. It's pretty weird if you think about it, everyone just pretending 😀 but whatever floats people's boats. The thing is, he said of course I've heard this song but I want to review it with the video, it would still be fine.
I’m 74 and in my 30s and 40s was very much into music. I wrote stuff and a friend of mine recorded it in the studio. I think I was in Maida Vale BBC Studio when he came to me and said that he had something he wanted me to listen to. It was, of course, Bohemian Rhapsody. It had not been released but my mate had a copy of the master tape (hot off the press) on his own tape spool and he played that to me! I was knocked out as most people are by it! So I was one of the first people in the world to hear that song and I treasure that moment!
I was a high school kid when this first played on the radio. To be honest, we heard so many new sounds in the mid seventies that this was just another at that time. We didn't watch videos. We listened to the radio, bought records, and tapes. We enjoyed wild concerts. As the years have passed, and with the overall reduction of quality music, I think that we now really appreciate the skills and imagination required to be musical stars in the seventies. Read the bios of the members of this group. They were all very intelligent and spent years developing their skills. Happy Birthday! That's a good time to discover Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody
Freddie's voice had incredible octave range, from bass to opera, & everything in between.....**Welcome to the queen rabbit hole, enjoy the ride, you are going to love it** 😄 GREAT REACTION!!! Would luv to see you react to their, Somebody to Love song, it displays his voice's ability to do gymnastics!!!

Happy birthday and really enjoy your reactions
If Beethoven did rock, just love that line you said 😎
Queen are considered one of the all time bands in history, sadly Freddie Mercury passed away much to soon from us.
just a few of their more popular songs to consider by queen
We are the champions
Another one bites the dust
We will rock you
Fat bottomed girls
Wishing you and your family a safe and healthy 2021
Masters of anthems.
Yeah, you knew that song before! ^^
Always a dead giveaway when someone starts to nod his head right *before* the rock part starts: 5:25 😁😁😁
Exactly lol, and 99% of the people on here just take part in the illusion. It's pretty weird if you think about it, everyone just pretending 😀 but whatever floats people's boats. The thing is, he said of course I've heard this song but I want to review it with the video, it would still be fine.
The greatest band of all time.
Happy Birthday! And Queen IS and always has been spoken about as being in the upper eschelon of music, your just late to the game 😊
The Best Song Ever Written!

Some Pink Floyd definitely on the way! 😊
probably the best front man in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Happy Birthday !!! Enjoy !!! Love Queen
Bohemian Rhapsody is musical roller coaster. Fun, but you don't know what to expect. A true classic.
The harmonies in the beginning is ALL Freddie Mercury!!! One guy who sings in the beginning and wrote this song too! Got to see this genius live 3 times, the first time in the front row!!! They were friggin' amazing!
Happy Belated Birthday! And many more 🙏🏻🎂💐
Queen is a deep 🕳🐇 - enjoy your journey 🤗
They recorded back then on tape, many times until was nearly transparent!
This was 1975, I was 13 years old. I heard it on the radio. It was 6-7 minutes long, and songs weren't ever that long. This song changed music forever.
It has been called the best song ever made.
