BIG RED'S BREAKDOWN - 1963 Chevy 4x4 MISFIRE + BRAKE CHECK - UTX

- Today at Ugly Truck, Big Red is back...again! In the last episode, a bad misfire cut our test drive short, and today we're getting to the bottom of it. Turns out, our fuel tank wasn't clean enough, and we ended up with a couple of stuck valves and bent pushrods. With that fixed, we pull the wheels and check the drum brakes. New parts are on their way, so we'll catch you next time!

Wow, has Jerry lost some weight? Looking good Jerry!
He has! Thanks Andrew!
That truck is a beauty! I cut my teeth at 12 working on those Chevrolet straight 6s...Changed out a bad cylinder head in a Lobster boat for a family friend that was not mechanical at all. Thank you for the memories
I think we've said it before, but these straight 6's are great engines for anyone just starting out. Simple and reliable, and will get you where you're going! Thanks for watching, Chad! --Emily and Jerry
Hey guys. I received my gift card and stickers and key chain yesterday. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I really haven't won anything that had to do with TH-cam. And not much that didn't lol. Again, thank you guys. I really enjoy your videos.
Thanks for playing Hugh! Glad you got your stuff. We'll have another giveaway soon! 😁
That's friggin cool. Big green tank for an air horn. Very noce!!!!
Good job Emily!!! You caught the brake shoe before it hit the floor!! Lol
🤣🤣 Thanks Hugh!
Yeaaaaa’ My Two Favorite TH-cam Truck Builders..👩🏼🤝👨🏻..look like yall are Gonna be Busy A Few Months on this One..😄
Hey Bernando! 👋 This truck has been a fight since it got here! Here's a link to a playlist if you want to see the whole saga! 😁 th-cam.com/play/PL3Xf8yWArPC6bLOiH1u2dwQXDLCGKzHWR.html
@@UglyTruckExperience Ok Thankyou guy’s..😀
The Good Old Days, when it took 3 minutes to get a valve cover off.
We've been doing so many LS swaps lately, it was nice to go back to something simpler. Thanks for tuning in, Rick!
im from az 😊
Cool truck, good job guys
Thanks Andrew!
Back about 96 or 97 I had a 84 Olds delta 88. 307ci. The sock plugged up with sand and rust. You know back then the fuel stations didn't have very good ( if any) fuel filters before it goes into your tank. It was dropped and takin somewhere and boiled the tank out. Almost good as new. And back then it wasn't so easy to get a new tank. There are millions of aftermarket parts out there now lol
Hey Hugh. I guess that is one nice thing about todays technology. I remember taking radiators to a shop to have them repaired.. Now that's crazy talk. Jerry
Disposable society. Yep
Thanks!
Thanks so much, Jolein! We've had so much fun with Big Red since he's been here!
Interesting choice in brake shoe material… was that felt? LOL! Looked like it turned into a powder.
Was that sand that came out of the wheel cylinder?
So happy to see old trucks back on the road!!!
🤣 I think they were Play-Doh brake shoes! I'm not sure what was in the wheel cylinders, but they're definitely ready for retirement. Thanks for tuning in, Rob! --Emily
That is great. Please shake Oscar's hand for me guys. He gave alot. Some gave all. I would bow and shake his hand if I were anywhere close to you guys.
Oscars family brought us this truck to get it running. I have met his son and a few of his grandchildren. I'm not sure when he passed away but it has been a while. I can only hope that my family does the same for us someday. They will have their work cut out for them. Jerry and Emily
He must have been a great man. The greatest generation. I'm glad you guys were able to do videos o. His truck. That was a great honor. Thank you guys.
Well hello there
Hi Alonso! 👋
They must have had the front brakes done in oklafornia.
You said it Dan. Every time I see that I go nuts. Thanks. Jerry
I have a 65 k10 exact same lift in the back. Might be factory
I think it is factory. It is a cast piece with the bump stops built into it. It is nothing like what you would expect to see today, but back in 63 I bet it was a pretty good solution to get some clearance. Thanks for your comment. We appreciate you watching. Jerry and Emily
I got to tell you , this may be the most underrated TH-cam channel ever! Thanks for the details I’m a new subscriber, are you two married? Work great together! My 67 impala ls swap forum sent me here! Makes more confident about doing my own swap
Hey Ben! Thanks for subscribing! Yep, Jerry and I are married, and have worked together for years. Keep us posted on your swap! Best of luck! --Emily
@@UglyTruckExperience I love it! Keep it up , if you’re ever in the southern utah area on vacation I’d love to host you two! I have rental cabins in between the national parks , I love it when family’s work together thanks again for the detailed content
Very cool! I had plans to take our 70 C10 on a road trip to Utah, but Covid happened. If we ever make it out that way, we'll look you up! Thanks Ben! --Emily
Tell you what , I’m not a huge TH-camr yet , but I’m working on it. If you guys ever wanted to do a calibration . I would put you up in my rentals and take you around the coolest places in southern Utah. Im doing a Ls swap on a 67 impala . If you’re interested I would make it the sweetest vacations ever . I tour guide on the side , we have some repelling tours and other stuff . I’d totally trade for some ls work while there. Let me know if it’s something your family would be interred in. My channel is Heck yeah adventures
Hi guys!
Hi Ray! 👋👋
Seems like the old inline 6s always had noisy valve trains.
I wish this one had more oil coming to the top. It eventually got there, but I would have like to seen more. Thanks Hugh.
Definitely. I've had and I know you have too, pull of the valve cover and streams of oil spray all the way to the fender lol.
My 65 C/10 has a 73 250 nova engine in it now. Had a rocker arm split in two. After replacing it. While adjusting the new one. Oil was flying everywhere. I didn't see that with the truck you're working on. Is mine overly excited. Or is yours running a little dry? Help me. Help me...
I don't know what normal is!
😂🤣😀😎 Great video, BTW.👍
🤣🤣 Don't panic! This one is lacking on oil pressure, but yours sounds like it's good! 😁 Thanks for tuning in, Dan! --Emily and Jerry
That is my birthday as a matter of a fact..😂
It's definitely a day that will live in infamy! 🤣 Thanks for tuning in, Bobby!
