  • Today at Ugly Truck, we're firing up our newest addition: a 1976 Chevrolet K20. This square body 4x4 has a 350 SBC and a 4 speed standard transmission, and hasn't been on the road in 20+ years. We're determined to take this bad boy for a nice fall cruise, and even a sticky clutch can't stop us!

    That’s a really nice truck and you should keep it and that drive you made that was super sketchy was a beautiful drive that here in North Texas is very rare to find except some of state parks.

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  ปีที่แล้ว

      We're both in love with this truck, so I don't think it's going anywhere. I have some cool ideas for it! 👍 We live in a really pretty area, so that sketchy drive is our daily route. Thanks for watching!

      The sketchy part was the brakes locking to the right. That ditch would not be good

      Yes, I'm glad we figured out the brake issue before that part of the drive! 😂

    That's literally my dream rig. A 4x4 k20 from 1976. Imo the 76 front end beats all square bodies

      It's an awesome truck! It has sat in the same spot it was park in this video for 2 months, and it fired right up the other day! We need to get some brake parts here and get it back on the road. Thanks for watching, Scott!

    how did you get steering wheel unlocked without key? ..hey great, I'm starting to plan LS swap into my '81 SWB and just in planning stage , and wanting to know all parts needed to get before i start, keeping fuel tank and going with brothers fuel pump, couple concerns are wanting ti keep original motor accessories , alt. ps pump, no A/C , . other concern is ECM besides disabiling vats, will factory tune be adequate or will it need reconfigured? stock 3sp w/OD. peugoet i think. I know i need flywheel from 4.8 any recommendations on clutch and disc? the LS is '05 from 4wd silverado, obdII plug? O2 sensors? dual exhaust, 81 has I6 -250 , which motor mount locations for cross member mounts? oil pan issues? i want to get started by next OCT. if the 250 can hold out that long, shes getting weak...i love your channel so i'm watching as many that seem relevant...thanx, I'm sorry Em I haven't caught what I presume is your father , forgive me if I'm wrong, his name? I want 2 call him pops, only he might be younger than I. he has off beat humorous side that is befitting a gentleman with his mechanical background...keep videos coming, i 'm keeping notes, part references wud be very helpful too...see ya n funny papers

      Sounds like our next video will be right up your alley! We'll address more of your questions in other videos too, but if you want more info on ECM programming in the meantime...check out LT1swap.com. We send all of our PCM's to him for programming, and there's a ton of great info on his website. Thanks so much for your comment!

    I envy what you guys do. I would love to be able to work on old trucks and cars and do LS Swaps every day. Unfortunately that's not a real possibility for me at this point in my life so I love watching your videos so I can live vicariously through your content. I've done a 305 to 350 swap in my old 1986 Trans Am and one day I'd like to be able to do a V6 to LS swap in my 1991 Firebird. Hopefully the economy and inflation will ease up at some point in the future so I can make it happen. Thanks for the great content and I look forward to watching the upcoming LS Swap videos.

    I absolutely love your channel! I was wondering how the vacuum system works on a small block. I bought a 79 C10 and theres vacuum lines all over the place. I was wondering what lines are important and which ones I can get rid of.

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  ปีที่แล้ว

      You would need the line that goes from the vacuum source on the intake to the vacuum ball and a tee in there to go to the interior vacuum line which supplies vacuum to your hvac. You also need vacuum to distributor from a timed vacuum port on carburetor and vacuum to power brake booster. Thanks for watching.

    That’s a winter front , the headlights were already exposed 👀

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  ปีที่แล้ว

      We put the bra back on it. Everyone's saying this winter is going to be bad, so we may need the 4x4!

    • @throttlewatch4614
      @throttlewatch4614 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UglyTruckExperience lol it’s not a bra lol winter fronts are usually used on diesel trucks in extreme cold areas to keep heat in the engine and cab . It can be opened like a bra…🤦🏼‍♂️ to let more air in 🤣

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I see what you mean... I guess a bra covers the whole front. I'd like to know more about the history of this truck. Why it has the cover, no fan clutch, ran on propane... Sounds like it had an interesting life! Thanks for watching Tim!

    • @throttlewatch4614
      @throttlewatch4614 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UglyTruckExperience I’m wondering if the propane causes the engine to run cooler I know they run clean that may be the reason for the fan and winter front

    LS swap question for the next video- what “emissions/egr”, exhaust air pump pipes etc can be removed and what changes to the ecm do you need after those are gone
    When installing in a pre- emissions vehicle

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question! We tend to just say that we "deleted emissions" on the PCM, and skim over the rest. Definitely something we could go into more detail about! 👍 Thanks for watching!

  • @averagejoe9234
    @averagejoe9234 ปีที่แล้ว

    thanks for the video and the letting us know what you paid for the truck...I have no idea why it is always a secret on the purchase price of these projects.

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure why price is such a secret either, unless they're trying to resell it. We want to show our viewers that owning and enjoying a project like this doesn't have to cost a fortune...and purchase price is a big part of that. With a little work, this would be a great running/driving truck for less than $5000, which is a pretty realistic goal. We appreciate you watching!
