“My cult’s better than your cult.” -Ham
If I can't believe in an earth that's older than 6k years because "I wasn't there to see it", then I'm not going to believe in a guy coming back to life three days after being stabbed through the chest with a spear either, because "I wasn't there to see it".
I'm assuming that Ham accepts that the reason he exists is because his parents engaged in sexual intercourse causing his mother to become pregnant. I'm also assuming that he was not there to witness the spectacle yet he accepts that it happened.

Honestly, Ken may believe that he was specially created, parents not required.
@@dragonhealer7588 Maybe he was specially created. That would explain a lot of things.
I wasn't there to see the Bible get written by God either.
@@LadyDoomsinger But the Bible was not written by God, it was written by men who were inspired by God. We know this to be true because we know that all scripture is inerrant and was inspired by God. We know this to be true because it says so in the Bible, 2 Timothy 3 verse 16 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. We can be absolutely certain this is true because it says so in the Bible which is inerrant. We know this because the Bible says that it is. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.
So there you have it, absolute 100% proof and not even slightly circular reasoning.

@@user-qy3xu9hg2j I definitely don't agree with either of them. WLC is just closer to the truth. I do wish someone would hold Ken to account for his rejection of science. Like, if you're going to reject these sciences because their conclusion disagrees with the bible then you should reject ALL the fruits of those sciences. I'm pretty sure the end result would be him not being allowed to use any modern tech.

You know as a giant Star Wars nerd I also get in fights with friends over the lore of a fictional story. These guys just have learn to let this stuff go 😂.
The difference is that you and your friend know it's fiction. These dudes don't.
@@Your_god_sucks But you could sort of imagine that a couple hundred years from now there might be a sect of people who forget that it was a story and believe that there really was a Luke Skywalker. And if you take it a step farther and imagine that that sect wins favor with a powerful ruler and soon goes on to make all versions of the story except theirs illegal... you get the idea. It's a stretch, but given the circumstances of politics, economics, and fan fervor over a story, I can see how it happens.

I have no time for William Lane Craig's views on anything but for Ken Ham to accuse him of being a pseudo-intellectual is hilarious. I'll tell you what, Ken, nobody is ever going to accuse you of being an intellectual, pseudo or otherwise. He's just a sad, deluded old man who has worked out a way to extract huge amounts of money from the gullible.
Yep, all apologists are grifters (and I mean ALL of them). Some of them, like Ken Ham or "Dr." Dino are aware of this fact an use it to their advantage. Others, like WLC, are not unaware, but nevertheless, their income rests on the fact that people are gullible enough to accept their claims and think they are an intellectual reference. This leads those unaware grifters making claims such as "I lower the epistemic bar (so that my beliefs remain tenable)". If they weren't grifters needing loyal followers so they can keep the money rolling in, they wouldn't utter such inane comments.
OK but to be fair WLC is definitely a pseudo-intellectual. He's nowhere near as smart, clever, or competent as he has ever claimed to be. He's certainly not a good writer or speaker.

Ken Ham seems to be a selective in his literal interpretation of the bible. 'Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's" gets overlooked by him, as he finds ever more creative ways to avoid paying tax.
It's quite a feat for someone to make folks like WLC look like a rational, reasonable person. But Ken did it easily.
Indeed, Ham managed to make Mr LowBar look extremely rational!
good old ken - the gift that keeps on giving !
Long time ago I heard such an arrogant person as Jen Ham, I grew up as Christian and I have never ever heard any Christians say dinosaurs lives with humans until Ken Ham, so most Christians don't believe in that but according to Ken Ham every other Christian is wrong and everyone must follow how this narcissist interprets the Bible.
Gotta like it when the story tellers argue over the story.
Depends really, respectable storytellers/historians when it comes to history, for example, on the "why"a certain historical figure did what they did, the same can be applied to God, but with God, God always agrees with the person arguing.... meaning, God is just a freaking personification of one's own feelings, that's why they get so freaking offended when you "reject god" cause you're just really rejecting them. Also why they fight amongst themselves 😆
Edit: some spelling mistakes

They'll also crow about the JWST discovering stars much older than the oldest we thought existed before getting that data. You want to say, "You do know that that's further AWAY from 6000 years, right?"
They also go on and on (and on and on and on...) about the Cambrian explosion. You want to say, "Okay, let's go with your premise that the Cambrian explosion is the 6 days of creation instead of tens of millions of years in duration, show me which of those Cambrian fossils is of one of your ancestors."
@@Cat_Woods Interestingly, from the GAIA satellite data, we have shown that there are stars that are definitely more than 20,000 light years away, which means their light has been travelling to us for 20,000+ years. This is slightly different than the other calculations of stellar distance in that it is based on direct measurement of parallax, not on a series of calculations based on our knowledge of astrophysics.

According to the Bible, the universe is God's handiwork, created by his own hand, specifically to declare his glory. So technically, it's Ken Ham who is rejecting what God has written firsthand in the cosmos itself, and is embracing words written by men.

3:35 now they are saying theists aren't theists, other times atheists aren't atheists, wtf do you want, choose one!
It all depends who is in charge of the heresy trials.
Yes. This deserves a name. Something like the projection paradox fallacy. The tendency to deny atheism vicariously on our behalf, is predicated on projection. They desperately want to believe,.that deep down inside, we intuitively jump to conclusions that affirm their own intuitive assumptions, so then projection of their own beliefs, is useful to assuage the possibility that we've arrived at our position rationally, and that we've refuted them (to our own satisfaction) with valid epistemic reasoning. Of course they don't realy know how to do that, nor do they want to. They want to believe what they do, and they want to believe that everyone else does too. So they project their wanna-believing onto us.
The other half of the paradox, entails the no true Scotsman fallacy. The more detailed the doctrinal points become and the more zealous the beliver, the more exclusionary and divisive. If you don't believe this or that point, you can't really be one of us. They're not trying to cast others out as atheists, but unworthy of their gods love or salvation.
Ironically they make more atheists either way. The first, because I know what I believe or don't believe, so if you're going to try contradicting my self affirmed beliefs/disbeliefs, your proving yourself to be fraudulent and just wrong. The second way, demonstrates your toxic exclusionary mindset. The bigotry of denouncing others who are proclaiming to be theist and adherence to your God, only affirms that the god you believe in, appears to be a mental construct, for affirming your ego. As you become specific in doctrine and evermore zealous, so too do other belivers appear to you as evermore heretical and unworthy. The desire to *'other'* people and excuse them, parallels the playground bully who feels bigger and better, by putting others down. It's self-righteous virtue, made of scorn and bigotry.
The desperate desire to include those who disbelieve and the zealous impulse exclude those who do believe often clash paradoxically in the same religion, church, doctrine and even the same individual minds.

As someone who is hoping to become a published author someday, I come across a lot of times where I have to calculate people's age by another person's age by their son's age. And let me tell you. This is not an easy thing to do. I'm no mathematician, obviously. But in taking into effect, not just the age of the father and of the son, but then also of the holy ghost... Try to get through that whole mathamatical experience. Well, it can really be disconcerting. It doesn't matter how old Adam lived if you're gonna take one of his younger sons and base the years and time on him. Then, take 1 of his son's babies, older or younger, and base it on him. All that doesn't really come out clearly.
History doesn't fit in our book. So let's change history.

When Ken Hamm says "You're mocking God!" he means, "You're mocking Me!"
@7:50-8:10 I just about choked myself up laughing when he said all of this, because the first thing that came to my mind very quickly was all of the scripture I have heard flat-earthers use to justify the Bible describing a flat Earth and a local Cosmos, rather than a spherical Earth and a huge Universe where everything we see in the night sky is actually light years away.
It is so ironic Ken Ham would accuse William Lane Craig of taking man's word literally and god's word allegorically to side with mainstream secular science, because this is exactly what Ken Ham and other modern young Earth creationists do when they read all of the same versus from the Bible that literally describe a flat Earth and a local cosmological system. They were brought up to believe in a spherical Earth and distant heavenly bodies which is what mainstream science has been teaching in the western world for some time now, and guess what, Ken Ham accepts that and brushes off many verses in the Bible as allegorical that would otherwise refute modern geology and cosmology, even though there is absolutely no context in the Bible that suggest that these things were meant to be taken allegorically, but on the contrary, you find context that suggests the Bible writers literally believed in a flat Earth.
For example, in Job 38, it describes a lot of things that God had created including the Earth, and it said after the Earth was created it took shape like a clay under the seal, which in today's terms would be analogous to a pancake or pizza. And guess what, there is context in that very chapter that provides insight as to whether or not the writer of job Mexicans literally or allegorically. You go a little farther into the chapter and it literally says "God shakes his enemies off the Earth edges". Now whether or not the writer meant this metaphorically, he used terminology that would totally make sense if he really believed the Earth was flat because his potential metaphor included in earth with edges which is absolutely and no way shape or form consistent with a spherical Earth, but works perfect on a flat earth. I wonder how Ken Ham what explain this one away and not look like a total hypocrite for what he said about William Lane Craig.

Newsreader : Good evening. Here is the news on Friday, the 27th of Geldof. Archaeologists near Mount Sinai have discovered what is believed to be a missing page from the Bible. The page is presently being carbon dated in Bonn. If genuine it belongs at the beginning of the Bible and is believed to read "To my darling Candy. All characters portrayed within this book are fictitious and any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental." The page has been universally condemned by church leaders.
The First Amendment is supposed to protect me from these lunatics holding public office.
Sounds like religious discrimination
Patiently waiting for these Fundies to leave us forever.
And that's why I would not care too much about the long-term effects of Christian nationalists taking over the US government. Because as soon as they have reached their goal, the problems among those Christian denominations (or better: their leaders) will emerge. They are only united due to their common enemy, secularisation, separation of state and church. If this enemy is defeated, thir differences will unevitably surface and they will go after one another.
And it may take a while, but such a government will brake apart.
However, the result of this all will be brain drain, chaos. The people will suffer. And that is the worst part of it.
Theists will take the same verse and come to different interpretations of it and both will say that their interpretation is the literal meaning of it.
It would just be easier for the god to turn up and explain what it meant! But THAT will never happen. 🤣
This sort of exchange should be encouraged. I've heard so many 'discussions' and debates between theists and atheists I'm almost tired of it. So, to keep the book from being wrong, I decided to just not say how old he is and let the reader figure it out for themselves."
"... What?"
Seeing Christians and their infighting is as equally entertaining as the infighting with what I am currently noting with the Tory government.
"... and if I thought for a moment that I were arrogant and that God was opposing me, I would step down from Christian ministry." Can WLC point to anyone in history who stepped down because they thought they were arrogant, from any Christian denomination? Or would he be the first?
Also, I like how his first defence was about being pseudointellectual. "No guys, I'm smart. Stop saying I'm not!" I know his public reputation depends on whether Christians think he's smart, but most academics would likely respond more along the lines of, "he's free to think that (and I certainly don't know everything or get everything right). But until he puts in the work to demonstrate mistakes in my work, it just seems like name-calling and assertions to me, and I don't think that's helpful to the discourse."
Cool it with the pearl-clutching.
Why dont they just say that dinosaurs went extinct after The Fall, but before Noah? Seems to me that apologists insist on making things harder for themselves, for no gain.
I dont feel so bad about my guitar playing now.
