Rush was arguably more about drivers and their drama. The racing parts were over dramatized and lackluster, so I don't actually believe that belongs in your list. Otherwise, the other titles you mention are classics

Took me 3 years to finally watch this movie and oh man, this is a masterpiece. Not many good movies recently. But this one is hands down great. Has some great messages too. Loved it.

Enzo Ferrari's ability to piss off big names into making crazy cars is his greatest legacy.
Minh Trung Le Ford GT40, Lamborghini, Monteverdi
And Shelby too. He was so angered by Enzo's treatment of drivers that he went to Aston Martin to race for them. During his 1959 win at Le Mans against Ferrari's incredible GT 250 he was suffering with dysentery. This was Aston Martin's very first win in its 30+ year history at Le Mans. And it was at this race's trophy ceremony that the champagne spray ritual was born.
A year later Shelby had to retire due to heart problems. He was popping nitroglycerine tablets whilst racing. Being sidelined from the track didn't stop him. He then developed the AC Cobra which brought Carroll and Ford together and established the relationship needed to mount Ford's Le Mans' challenge.

It's a work of fiction, and a movie needs to sell tickets to make money.
The book is very, very good, highly recommended. Still greatly enjoyed the movie, and I found the scene with HFII crying, saying "I wish my daddy were here to see this", is actually quite in character if you have read about his life and his father Edsel's.
Shelby cars are a great investment because of not only the name but the history and stories it endured thru the years.
He wished his father was alive to see how GT40 Performed, that's why he was crying.
I see Matt Bale or Christian Damon, I buy the ticket.

What an underrated director James Mangold has been all these years? I mean just think about the masterpieces he's been making all the bloody time! This one included.
Nah mate it was just this and the wolverine films. Knight And Day is nowhere near a masterpiece (though it's very enjoyable) and Walk The Line, while a masterpiece, was nothing compared to FVF and Wolverine.
Edit: 3.10 to Yuma is a masterpiece as well

And that statement actually had two meanings too. Up front, Ford was referring to a racing rivalry...but he was also referring to Ford's massive war efforts in defeating the Axis Powers (Germany/Italy....how ironic!) during WWII.

A Ford dealer in California that carried Cobras and Shelbys in stock. One day a man comes in and wants to buy a 427 AC Cobra roadster. The dealer tells him, I carry both the 289 and the 427 but I'd advise you to try the 289 as it's much easier to drive for most people. No says the guy, I gotta have the 427. The dealer gets the keys and they walk out to a beautiful white with blue stripes, Cobra roadster. They get in and the guy drives it a few miles, accelerating wildly and almost losing control a few times. They return to the dealership, the guy is sweating and a little shaken. He says, you're right, maybe I should try the 289 to which the dealer replies, that was the 289.
The dealer should have told the customer "Go look at a Chevy"!
I would return to the dealership and say, " Ya got one with an even BIGGER motor?" ;)

The fact that Ford considers winning against Ferrari at Le Mans as its greatest achievement of all time really speaks volumes about the greatness of Ferrari. Ford had limitless resources and money and still needed the help from the British to have a chance against a small privately owned Italian car company without any outside help. Americans tell this story as if Ford was some tiny company that went against the GIANT Ferrari, when in reality it was exactly the other way around. Let's also not forget the fact that Ferrari got revenge on Ford in Ford's own backyard at the Daytona 24h in 1967 by finishing 1-2-3.
I'm one of the few Americans that DOES understand this. Ford writing blank checks to fund a British Lola Mk6 rebadged as the "Ford GT40", driven by British driver Ken Miles, is not an "American" victory.
Christian Bale and Matt Damon gave a superb performance in this masterpiece. A timeless pleasure to watch ♥️🇺🇸🇮🇹

There's too much to list, but for example, Enzo didn't go to Le Mans, Miles and Shelby never fought, Miles never gave Henry Ford II a ride in the "Ford GT40", it got the "David v Goliath" aspect of the story backwards, and it completely misrepresents what actually happened. Most lay people don't realize this was a BRITISH victory, not an American victory. Ford paid Roy Lunn (British) to find a British team, which was renamed "Ford Advanced Vehicles", based in Surry England. Eric Broadley (British) designed and built the British Lola Mk6, which Lunn bought and renamed as the "Ford GT40", because Ford was writing the checks to fund the team. Driver Ken Miles was British. Even the Ford engines were built in Britain.

Ford was funding the program. it will be stupid to race at LeMan without thinking about getting some help from the locals (European). it would take ford way too long to do it completely in house in the US.

Most people didn't understand Mr. Fords reaction. He wasn't scared. He was ecstatic. People who really are into it could relate the feeling in the theater.
If they saw the full scene, he cried because he wished his father was alive to experience the test drive with Shelby. Edsel Ford was a hot rod racer.
