Saw it last night. I LOVED it. And I'm a sports car/Indy Car fan and have driven two of my Miatas in many high-speed track days. As my son said to me last night at the movie, "This was a movie made for you, mom." Right he was. It was SO well done!

This superb movie gave me the same feeling of exhilaration that I got when attending the 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and other endurance races decades ago. My reaction to the incredible power and technology was somewhat similar to that of Henry Ford II when he was taken for a ride in the Ford GT40.
That scene where Shelby, written "7000+ GO LIKE HELL", and showing to Ken miles during the race is the highlight scene of this movie. It will definitely give you GOOSEBUMPS

This movie made me depressed and really really sad for Ken Miles, even bred in me a hatred for Ford. Matt and Bale, hands down nailed their roles.
You know, it was not really corporate politics. Leo Belbee, the guy who's shown as the villain in the movie, wasn't half as bad as what was shown. The movie had added drama for obvious reasons, but Shelby didn't have to fight off with Ford at every step as the movie showed.
Yes, that 'together end' was Belbee's idea, but he didn't realise that Miles would come second as a result. And Miles was instructed to finish with everyone, but at the end of the day, it was his decision.
As someone who also was very disheartened and saddened by the ending of the movie, I did some research, read the whole book which the movie is based on (Go like hell by AJ Baime), and read several articles. It was a scandal, but an unlucky one at that, not because of one person's villainous plots as shown in the movie!
And that's why they say, never take a movie at its face value.

@Aarush Kumar nuh-uh, it wasn't the Ford owner who told him to do so. Besides it was a suggestion that was clocked in by the actual race authorities as well. But the authorities forgot that crucial bit about difference in starting points and by the time they mentioned it, he had already begun his last part.

Beef , it sounds like a Good Time . I took my 80 year old Mother to see this , She had not been to a Movie in years . When the Door would not stay shut She lit up , "Its like our Ford " . She has a Rusty 2005 Taurus and in the Winter it gets Picky about when it wants to have its Doors not staying Shut when you are Driving . This past Winter on real Cold Days The Right Side Door would not Close also . I had a G.i Bandoleer Tied to a G.i Web Belt That I sat on To Keep that Door Closed Till it Warms up . The Driver Side I hold just fine till it heats up . She enjoyed this Movie Immensely and laughed so hard over the Door . It was a Great Movie to bring Her to .

T D - you could be right. Since 2015, with a few exceptions, every time my wife and I have gone into a movie theatre we have gotten skunked. It doesn’t matter what genre-historical, art house, romance, drama, action, sc-fi - there is something very wrong with most of these movies. We just watch pre-2005 for most of our movie fixes.

I like Ken Miles but Vittie Cothron is a race car driver that I would actually rate as unstoppable. During the last lap of his heat he lost his carburetor linkage so he broke his windshield and controlled the carburetor with 1 hand while steering with the other to preserve 3rd place.

Actually they didn't capture corporate politics at all. Enzo did not deny Ford's proposal because "he made fat cars", but because it restrained him. Ford did not win right away, but after 2 losses against Ferrari. And the politics, oh, the politics... Ferrari was small back then. Ford used all its political influence to pressure them. Also the money Ford spent was about 10 times the budget of all the other teams together. And they still got 3 titles against Ferrari's 5 in these years.
@@GalaxyTracker pretty sure they showed all of that, especially the part where iacocca tells Enzo that when they tell them not to go racing they won't and Enzo felt that's an insult. Hence he insulted them saying they make ugly cars.
Also they didn't win right away in the movie. They lose the first time out and that's when Shelby gives him that test ride in the GT40 to convince him about Ken Miles.

This movie is absolutely brilliant, the screenplay and the acting is perfect and during the entire movie it keeps suspense. This movie carries drama and humor in such a brilliant way I have not seen a movie do in a long time. During the races I was on the edge of my seat. This movie was truly 10/10
Who else is here after watching the movie? The movie was exceptional! Or rather should I say it was an art? I literally have no words to describe this film. Matt Damon and Christian Bale killed it with their acting, Kudos to Jon Bernthal too! These are the movies which deserves to be watched on big screen rather than on TV or phone or laptop, a CLASSIC movie! I hope the movie makes it to the Oscars coz the film totally is Oscarworthy. Even if it fails to win any Oscars I want it to win atleast an Oscar for 'Adapted Screenplay'.

I’m only 16 but I’ve been a car fanatic since I was 11 years old and this movie just made it bigger. This movie beautifully portrays a true story of two great men in the car business as well as a legendary rivalry. Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby. The night I saw it I had a dream that I met these two inspirational people at the Mustangs unveiling. This movie made me cry because of how it was so close to the original story. It breaks my heart that so many of my peers do not have a clue what a Chevelle, Firebird or a GTO is. If you call yourself a car guy and did not have a tear in your eye after watching this then you have no business calling yourself one.
I am an Indian and there are loads of Bale fans, but less motorsport fans. I watched this with my 13 year old kid, who is big fan of Damon and Bale, along with Motorsports. He just loved it, after a long time of hardships, this film made him smile. Just love it

After the Ford V Ferrari screening at the Telluride Film Festival, viewers were leaving the theater in tears. Any car racing movie movie that can get that kind of reaction is probably a freaking masterpiece.

Just finished watching, what a phenomenal movie! I think every car guy needs to see this.
Definitely the best auto racing movie I've seen, and there aren't many in my opinion. Damon and Bale are superb. Four stars.
You might want to check the film Le Mans with Steve McQueen. It is very self indulgent, the filming techniques are very period and most people cannot identify the plot, but it is a great snapshot of racing in the year 1970.
@@spacecadet35I saw it as a kid when it made its first network broadcast in the '70s, but didn't like it much, neither did the critics I learned later. I saw that wonderful documentary on McQueen and it focused on the making of the film. "Rush" wasn't bad. Racing films are hard to make, but with the new technology, they could make some excellent ones.
@@davidwise3426 - I admit, I would recommend Le Mans (1971) for historical purposes rather than dramatic entertainment. Surprisingly the film Gumball Rally spent a lot of effort trying to record the engine noises of the vehicles a they knew that might be a permanent record. Rush was good.

I saw this film because my Dad is interested in cars and despite having no interest in cars/F1 etc I absolutely loved it. Massively underrated and honestly one of the greatest films I’ve ever seen.

If there’s no political angle or social justice bent, then you’re shown the door by major Hollywood studios.

As one involved in "Motor Racing", this movie gets it!! Awesome cast, killler cinephotography, true life story, great performances, ....Best Movie of the Year!!!
Great movie with Great acting. Ken Miles and his family are portrayed so beautifully. The wife and child acted so well. Car racing scenes were just perfect. The drama was also perfect and not over the top. Seriously a good movie. 9.5/10. There was nothing to dislike. It had a balance of the corporate politics, racing and humanity.
