    “There’s a point at 7,000 RPMs where everything fades. The machine becomes weightless. It disappears. All that’s left, a body moving through space, and time. At 7,000 RPM, that’s where you meet it. That’s where it waits for you.” THE ULTIMATE TRUTH 🤟

    • @jamesdarnell8568
      @jamesdarnell8568 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends. I raced a Ford Pinto back in the 1970s. Some of my friends had 7500 rpm motors in their Pintos. None of those lead sleds ever became weightless.

    • @ContainershipMAN
      @ContainershipMAN 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Did those guys hit 7000 revs on high gear ? For me i own a 1.8 corolla 2004 model i hit speed of 170 kph on 4 th gear @ 5400 revs . Still had a gear left .
      Hence i believe 7000 rpm is a great possibility 😌
      The bhp for a car is always at peak rpm
      For eg : 140 bhp @ 6200 for my corolla
      Ps : there is no bhp . All engines just produce TORQUE . Vertical motion to rotational motion
      Ftlb x rpm / 5252= Hp .

    • @jamesdarnell8568
      @jamesdarnell8568 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Back in the 1970s, we only had four gears. First and second were just for leaving the pits. We raced with third and fourth only. At Road America, they would certainly reach above 7000 rpm on the straights. At Blackhawk Farms Raceway, I believe they would run out of track first. That was 45 years ago. I have no idea what the Miatas rev to now.

    • @ellieprice3396
      @ellieprice3396 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ContainershipMAN Thanks for your interesting info on HP, torque and revs. Whether you reach 7000 rpm in top gear will depend on HP and wind resistance. Unless you have a lot of HP that kind of revs is only possible in a lower gear.

There is also AJ Foyt who raced very successfully across a number of motor sports...same with Mario Andretti ....
      Ascari, Ickx, Graham Hill...if we are going to opt to stick another F1 driver on there.
      The problem with picking the greatest of anything is, at some point there just isn't one but rather a small pool of fairly equally phenomenal to choose from.

You'll know who your fellow car guys in the theatre are by the audience reactions when they show the blue Cobra, the inside of the Shelby American hangar, and when Ken Miles says he'd prefer a Chevy Chevelle. James Mangold gave a great IndieWire interview about the film and Bale, one great quote: '' I felt the role was close to Bale [who starred in Mangold’s "3:10 to Yuma"], and prayed he would do it. He’s a model to me of artistic perseverance and flexibility. He'll text you with thoughts and free associations about the character. It's all incredible food. He’s a wonderful father, loving husband, great friend. He’s not interested in being famous. He drives a pickup truck, he’s grounded in the world, he raced motorcycles but had to stop when he got hurt, when he had kids. There are so many parts of Ken in Christian, who’s a perfectionist. He’s trying to achieve something for himself. It's magical to direct someone like that because they draw you into their own idealism. You feel that energy; it permeates the set. ''

    I saw the film last night. Believe the hype, and see it on the big screen! The sights and sounds alone are worth the ticket price. There is also a great historically accurate story portrayed by actors that breathe new life into these legends of racing. It's more than Ford. It's America winning, and what it took to get there.

    • @DJHalfbarr
      @DJHalfbarr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      What it took was a car built and designed in Woking, UK (The GT40 is a Ford funded Lola Mk 6 with a Shelby tuned Ford engine), with drive teams consisting of mostly Brits, Kiwis (one of whom set up a now famous race team/ supercar company in the same spot the GT40 was built: Bruce McLaren) and Aussies across the 3 cars, as experience of the race was essential to winning it...this film misses quite a lot of that out, but not all admittedly. Not diluting your sentiment, or denying Fords and thus America's influence in the race or the global motor racing scene, just as long as the established British race crews and chassis that were purloined to do it aren't discounted!

    • @johnconnor7501
      @johnconnor7501 5 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      Fast and furious is not even about racing anymore, it’s about fighting submarines.

    • @Gilbertperdomo
      @Gilbertperdomo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      To watch this film... This film is "fast" and "furious". The other film series you speak of is about import car tuning initially. Then incorporates storyline that has by now left the original soul of the film behind. Just another action series. Ford v Ferrari is history. There would be no "fast and furious" culture without Mr. Shelby. He defined "aftermarket tuning".

    I went 125 mph on a BMW R1200 once on a highway in the Arizona desert. The white line turned solid and as hard as I tried, I could not see outside a small cone of tunnel vision. Of course the 1200 cc’s were just getting into their stride but I covered a couple miles in just a minute. When I let off the throttle and slowed down, it felt like re-entering the atmosphere, or the world per se. my heart was pounding and my eyeballs throbbed from the stress, adrenaline and concentration. I can’t imagine what 200 or even 150mph feels like.

    It was a thrilling time of a change in motorsport. Still no electric fuel injection, just carbureted engines but a good aerodynamic was more and more important. The first steps to the modern race cars of today. Great movie!

    To bad Damon didn't adopt Shelby's hairstyle for the movie. Would have made him a little more believable. Otherwise I'm looking forward to the film

    • @Loulovesspeed
      @Loulovesspeed 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @Alan Drobnak - I was more worried about his stature - Shelby was taller. Didn't have any affect, you thought you were watching the Snake himself! Damon did a great job.

    • @68air
      @68air 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Damon was a poor choice for Shelby. Especially his accent which was on and off. The movie would have been better with someone else but it was still great.

    This is in my top 5 movie list. Just watch the 9th time last night. My favorite part is at the end of the race, Enzo Ferrari took his hat off to Ken Miles and showed the respect he deserved.
    I think the movie didn't portray Enzo a villain as some people say.

    PEOPLE .. it doesn't matter if you are a petrolhead or not … this is a story of human perseverance, humbleness, pride and proud, it is a very human touching movie. And The kid will …. (don't spoil boy !!) Probably you will even cry for some moments. Extraordinary story. Very touching. On a personal note , my kid and I love cars and HE IS a ford lover and has his first GT mustang , his first own car , so this movie was like WOWWW !!!! take your dad and your kid too. If your kid has over 6 months old, take it ! Very nice movie. Didn't expect this, honestly …

    There is a fierce competition among racers to win. This film captures that spirit. Car lovers relate to the commitment and work involved in building a great machine. The director really captured the intensity of the LeMans challenge.

    Bale and Damon are both as good as each other in this because they understand the respect the real character's had for each other. And the movie subverts the stereotype 's, the English guy is the temperamental nutter and the Murican is the calm guy with the good plan!.....Loved this film....

      1. Christian Bale is British. He's from Wales and he was raised in England.
      2. Everyone has an accent. Why on earth do Americans think that they don't?
      3. He has an *English* accent. There's no "the" British accent.

    “Feel every gearshift”.
    Great movie but can someone please make a movie where the shifts are true to life? Reminds me of Bullit and the infinite shifting.
    Other than that, small criticism, it was a great movie. IMHO.
