Christian Bale was brilliant as Ken Miles. This movie deservedly immortalized Ken Miles.

Just came back from the movie theater. Haven't been to a movie in years. I wanted to get that feeling of inspiration these men had - thought it would rub off. What a fantastic movie. I was actually crying at some points in the movie.
Damn I never heard his normal voice he has such a beautiful English voice

I could feel that he would tear up any second while he was talking about the sons... Oh boy! He's not just a phenomenal actor, he's an amazing human... Gosh!
In the end Miles story was tragic, Shelbys story was compromised, and Ford and his VPs story was vile
Great interview. What made Ken a great racer was the fact that he was a great mechanic, he really understood the car. Loved that scene in the movie when he got the go sign to rev the crap out of that big block Ford engine. His reaction was priceless movie magic!😮

Bale was absolutely intense especially in the car: pouting, veins sticking out, eyes afire, sweating, British mannerisms....
Damon with his way with words and dashing style, ....
The sound of the engines at gearchanges and the way the music builds up and complements the visuals and engine sounds....

The name should have been Shelby American versus Ford Motor Company. Ferrari was there in the beginning but in actual scenario it was Shelby American versus Ford motor company. Just after the 1969 Le mans Shelby American parted ways with Ford motor company. Interestingly that was Ford's last Le Mans victory showcasing that the four consecutive triumphs between 1966-1969 was impossible without the efforts of Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby. Indeed the Ford Motor Company is the real villian here.
What exactly did Ford do to be so villainous, besides the obvious of telling Ken to slow down? I mean that was very, very bad, but to call Ford the REAL villains? I mean, THEY had as much a role as anyone. NO ONE could have accomplished this without the deep pockets, and the single minded edict from the head honcho. It took the entirety of the combination of things to make this victory happen. So yeah, telling Miles to slow was nasty. But is your mother the real villain for making you go to bed on time and eat your veggies ? Sheesh.
of course he can handle GT40, he used to drive Batman's tumbler
its not a real GT40, the movie used replica GT shells with Roush pushrod V8's the Engine they showed in the testing scene was just a mockup on shakers.
they DID use real cars tho, very little CGI was used in the film. the only CGI was the shots of Circuit De La Sarth. as the frontstretch shots were shot on a closed runway with giant 3 story green boards at Van Nuy's airport. and the backstretch shot was recorded at Road Atlanta in Georgia. Georgia pretty much lets movie companies film there without really paying any taxes so.
The GT40s in the movie were from superformance. so they were more like continuation cars than replicas.

@@rockzs74r Well it is, I watched the film without even knowing who Ken Miles was and I picked up that Christian Bale was playing with Brummie accent in the film and I've lived in the midlands all my life and I've been living in Birmingham for the past 4 years so I should know. I know Bale was born in Wales but he doesn't even sound Welsh and he doesn't even class himself welsh as well so... what are you on about?????
Christian is in part the moden day Steve McQueen, less the looks, but I think they share the same temperament. Having watched the film its very good and more a story of the two men.
Hollywood has aways struggled to portray motorsport, but this film brakes that mould
I've been a fan of this actor since he was in Empire of the Sun where it was mostly about the character he played but he also stole the show. I think he did a bang up job of playing Ken Miles and you can sense that he was really into it. To me, it's almost like he made it look easy although I bet it wasn't. I learned all about Ken Miles from my Dad back in the late 70s as he was into racing and Mustangs. I bet it also had to feel good for Mr. Bales to play a real Brit who was an important person in recent history; just guessing that it had to feel good. Ken Miles and the nature of him make him a very easy guy for Americans--like me for instance--to admire.
Bale is my fav actor too, my mind was blown seeing him in Empire of the Sun... Back then I didn't know it was Bale. I couldn't believe how a young boy could get so into a character like that and actually live the character. What would you ask Bale if you ever met him in real life, if you had one question :) Mine would be 'Arent you the kid from Empire of the Sun'? And I have a feeling he would smile and wouldn't be offended 😂

An experience that I'll never forget
This is the film REAL MEN needed from Hollywood
In two weeks, I watched the movie on Disney+ three times, and two weeks later. The movie gave me this unrelenting goosebumps every time I watched it. I love cars, I love racing, and each time I watch this movie, I get immense joy as if when I have a perfect lap, a perfect podium, a perfect car, and a beautiful machine relationship its just amazing no matter. The movie is still amazing for those who don't enjoy car racing or have no complete interest in automobile racing.
Great movie. Captured the essence of the era and the relationship between Ken Miles and Carrol Shelby.
So, Ken Miles is basically Bruce Wayne but with Alfred's British accent

Let's be honest, Bale should won the best actor of golden globe. Phoenix was pushing too hard on the role as joker, it was literally ACTING! Bale as Ken Miles was pretty natural and spot on, I sincerely hope that he can beat Phoenix at Oscar later!

I respect men..... I'd never ride a motorcycle or honestly Drive a car at 150mph...... I love the thrill of speed..... but I would never trust a machine like that....... so I respect men that live that thrill. It's just crazy to hear an actor say he rode a motorcycle 150mph. I respect that. Still a man at end of day...... need thrills
All the good things about this exciting movie have already been said. Two things they could have done without: Portraying the competing drivers like James Bond villains and those cuts back home to the caring family. That's a few step backs there when compared to "LeMans" with Steve McQueen.
