      We did this in Iraq too. If there had been social media then I know a few dumb Marines who would have put stuff just like this online. Also, most of the dudes we were rolling up for having "gun powder residue" on their hands, were actually innocent, and the Marines were not properly trained to apply the test.

And when I was very little in the 90s everyday in our daily nightly news we were watching Chechen war, then terrorist taking over the theater, blowing up residential buildings and nothing was censored. They were literally showing parts of bodies, blood, dead etc almost daily… and then we also had a criminal podcast once a week that showed the brutal serial killers and what have they done to their victims, mafia fights and all that staff and it was horrific to watch. And no it didn’t make us less empathetic. I hate watching this genocide unfolding everyday and it hurts me so badly….

(my friends pranked me and it was when found footage style horror movies JUST came out and became popular and I had never seen a horror movie before especially not that kind) I was 16 and i was sobbing. Now i feel grossed out and angry and sad at most but dont have such intense reactions as I used to to even real violence. i love watching horror movies, but i have a hard time with medical dramas because i feel too sympathetic towards the characters experiencing pain. people are generally good at compartmentalizing and will react differently based on the situation and its intended effect. hence why you could laugh at a 20-second "fail" clip of someone accidentally lighting a firecracker in their face, but feel sick when seeing children being burned by white phosphorus.
      watching these videos while knowing how morally decrepit the individuals are causes you to react with disgust and disdain rather than humour.

    I dont have any problem with Liveleak style content. That might actually push humanity to a point where people will not join militaries or willfully engage in combat anymore. Whats wrong is when they glorify it in such a way. The more actual combat footage you consume though the less likely you are to ever consider joining a military. Real combat footage tends to suck any sense of glory out of the equation. Watching some Russian soldier say his last prayers before eating a bullet will humanize in a way thats just undeniable. It also goes so against recruitment propaganda. The last thing a military recruiter wants you to see is what combats actually like. Theyd rather sell it as this honorable and glorious adrenaline rush. Watching a convoy get ambushed as everyone burns alive or steps into gunfire is not exactly going to make people want to engage in combat lol. Especially Americans who have a very Call of Duty style fantasy involving comic book bad guys. They come back from combat and off themselves for a reason.

    Even with the Sephardic population, Sephardic can mean Jews who immigrated to the U.S. then to Israel or Spanish Jews who were forced out of Spain during the Inquisition and speak Ladino. Most Sephardi moved to the Ottoman Empire or Morocco during the inquisition.
    So many/most (?) Sephardi may not be Arab at all, and you maybe stretching "Arabness" due to the Jewish migration which followed the Arab migration to Spain.
    In the U.S. very few Ladino Sephardim exist, however there are "Sephardic" Jews who are Askenazim who have Sephardic Orthodox Synogogues.
    "Ladino/Sepharim" don't have an orthodox practice, as the Secular movement formed in Central-Eastern Europe during the 19th century.
    It can be confusing as hell, and likely doesn't show a proper distinction of ethos in Israel.

  • @DaKingof

    Disagree with the COD comments. It's desensitising. Many of these people that play these games are in full support of things like what the IDF are doing. It's not a peaceful way to spend your free time and that leaks into your perspectives/choices.

      i think it's more glorifying than desensitizing, playing the untouchable badass war-hero defeating The Bad Guys, especially since you're almost always playing an American or Bri*ish soldiers, 'cuz we're The Good Guys who can do no wrong.

    • @DaKingof
      @DaKingof 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is a good point@@princesspupcake1269 . I feel it's a bit of both. They get used to the idea of 'killing is winning'. That doesn't necessarily mean that they applaud it...but subconsciously those ideals are implanted in their heads and re-itterated, over, and over, and over, and over again.
      That's actually the main reason I no longer watch military flicks, especially with Middle Eastern terrorists in them. Those film makers are allowed to use military equipment for free just as long as the military gets the final word on the script. So in essence it's all propaganda.

    • @ForgotMyPasswd000
      @ForgotMyPasswd000 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mtlewis973 I agree, but like all media video games can be used for propagandistic purposes like COD compaigns famously being written to specifically glorify western imperialism against the "barbaric east", like how the Highway of Death was presented as a russian war crime in MW2019 despite it being carried out by western coalition forces in Iraq. Video games don't make people inherently violent, but they can instill the idea that the West are always the good guys.

    Why did hasan stick on the whole “Arab Jew” thing SO hard? Objectively, there’s a fuck ton of white Jews in Israel. Israel only traces lineage back three generations nowadays bc if they traced any further back the ENTIRE “right of return” situation would go out the window. There were less than 50,000 Arab Jews pre-nakba in historic Palestine, I can’t imagine, with the massive influx of European Jews, that Arab Jews now hold anywhere CLOSE to a majority

      The majority of Jews in Israel currently are from Arab countries. Doesn't change that they're upholding the settler colonial system, since even though they're Arab they are Jewish so they recieve the benefits of settler society at the expense of non-Jews, but the role of Arab Jews living in Israel who are very supportive of the war shouldn't be ignored.
