As an OCD sufferer who had therapy to overcome compulsions and intrusive thoughts it’s genuinely crazy to see ppl normalising the hotel routines and stuff like that is not normal functioning :(

OCD isn’t a blanket disease where everyone cleans a hotel room. A majority of people with OCD will see this video and not bat an eye.
I don’t understand what you’re trying to say other than finding the routine insane, which everyone already knows.

I think they are trying to say that this is simply weird to do. People choose to follow the routines that are unsustainable and obviously unhealthy and that many people with mental struggles like people with ocd are trying to get rid of. They post it online like entertainment and don’t treat it with seriousness. This is the same type of tiktoks as when people start to glamorise mental illness because they think it’s edgy or some shit like that, when in fact it is just sad and shouldn’t be treated this lightly.

I completely understand what you mean. If my sister sees this Tiktok, she will believe it 100%. She can't think critically as to why someone would lie on the Internet to create engagement to make money.
She saw a Tiktok that there's spiders eggs in grapes that can hatch inside your stomach if you eat them. So she doesn't eat grapes any more.
She will live in a lot more fear if she watches this.

@@yamayam1389 Well my OCD sadly manifests in the stereotypical compulsive cleaning and germaphobia but living like that is relentless torture so I’m saying that CHOOSING to live like that is crazy to me. Even the lock checking reminds me of my cousin whose compulsions manifest in checking every plug socket and lock on repeat for hours before she can sleep. It’s not a cute or healthy way to live your life.

Why would they track some random lady with a tracker that is semi attractive, there are attractive women all over the place. A lot of these are actually fine precautions. labeling it as "white women" doesn't make it any less misogynistic that yall are criticizing women for trying to stay safe in a world that is super violent towards them. Shit like the "rape whistle" that everyone was making fun of is actually super practical because loud sounds will most of the time work to deter people from assaulting you. When I was homeless I had the misfortune of putting this idea to use. I screamed as loud as I could for as long as I could when someone started assaulting me, and he took off running. A whistle is the same idea. Anything to attract attention that your assaulter doesn't want being drawn. You have to lose all your fear of seeming ridiculous to keep yourself safe. Also your anecdote of having your own home broken into does not change the statistics, nor does it mean you need to buy random tiktok products to stay safe. Around 5 years ago I lived the real fear & threat of that stuff. Those door stoppers with the alarm if they're pushed have been around for awhile and gave me a lot of peace of mind at the time. The alarm is super loud. I did it moreso for the alarm aspect and also every night pushed my living room couch against my apartment door. It's hell living like that.
Every moment I thought I would be murdered and it was a legitimate probability. I had finally gotten away from my violent ex but knew he'd probably come for me. I even quit my job due to threats he made about coming to my work. I locked myself inside weeks afraid to go out. Sure enough a month after ending things he showed up at night and tried to break down my door to get to me. The terror was indescribable standing there hearing him screaming and seeing the door shake as he tried to break in. Fortunately my apartment door was an actual solid all the way through door with strong hinges. The police showed up before he was able to get inside.
I really don't blame any woman for taking what may seem like over the top precautions. We've all encountered men whether they're a new first date, stranger at the store or partners who truly make us fear for our safety. I've been straight up interrogated by dudes at a store who don't like me saying no to their advances. I've been followed by men in their cars while walking my dogs. Unfortunately violence and fear are a part of the female experience. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I don't take over the top precautions now, naturally am pretty confident & don't get fearful easily but no matter what I know I will always face threats just for existing as a woman.

Anyone can easily follow you home wait for you to walk up to your door and force their self in when you are going in . I also own a firearm but let's be real if someone was to catch me at night by surprise from behind thats not any help either .
But on the other hand .. as a someone who lives alone things like this do help me sleep better at night , even though I live in a " safe " area . Maybe I watch too much true crime but I just rather be safe than sorry .

Yeah I see it more as women wanting to make themsleves feel safe vs genuinely thinking and believing they’re gonna get tracked down and murdered necessarily themselves , it’s nice to know u have options and measures in place in case u do end up in a scary situation and can make it easier to relax while alone I’ve always been a scaredy cat and hate the dark and being alone in my house always even now that I’m in my twenties and it’s embarrassing but also just frustrating cuz I have a a hard time relaxing and just going about my life normally cuz my Brian will start to pick up on every little noise and I just stay anxious but I’ve found strategies of making that experience more comfortable for myself and make me feel somewhat safe and relaxed than I would be without doing anything like having my door chimes and alarms on etc little things for peace of mind is important for some ppl , lots of anxious mofos out there and no matter how realistic the fear is , it does exist for many of us and we should try and deal with it in healthyish ways and manage any paranoia that comes up :)

i really do NOT understand this take. so women who are hyper sensitive about their security (reminder you do not know what may have happened to them or their loved ones in their past) have to just not bother buying or doing things that at least help them FEEL more safe because it won't really matter and they'll be screwed if it happens anyway? And we're worried about this? Like this is something we're acutally having a hard time w and deserves an entire stream segment? It's an extension of fears from crimes against women so i'd say focus on that instead of how women lock their doors. also a paranoid woman w a gun is no less concerning than a child or paranoid man w a gun. advertising products that profit over fear is a different take - on the advertisers. but to be like "white women are so crime obsessed" is so condescending. WOMEN are afraid of MEN.

the protocol you follow when it comes to considering the likelihood of someone harming you is exactly what my therapist has taught me as a grounding technique
i have complex PTSD from DV and was traveling to the state he grew up in to a nearby city and i was feeling a lot of anxiety about it, so she asked me to consider these three things specifically
    1) the likelihood of him being there when he no longer lives there
    2) the likelihood of him being in the same city as me when it’s not exactly where he grew up
    3) the likelihood of me seeing him if he happened to be in the same city when 3 million people live there

there's no point granting credence to this type of paranoia where on one hand you have a 10 step verification to get into the house but it's a suburban paper house and ever detail is posted online. I can compare it to some of those "stay at home girlfriend" videos where it was super obvious that the person is doing an ad for a product like bloom drinks or whatever, selling an idyllic stay at home lifestyle to capitalise on the sense of being jaded by modern work culture. And in this case it's mostly home security equipment to capitalise on the rise of the cultural obsession with true crime. It's literally linked in this creator's linktree.

'Luckily' the guy was just a peeping tom and my dad chased him off with a baseball bat. The other case was of one of my mom's friends who was living with her brother and mother in a flat on the 4th floor. The guy came in and walked around the flat while they were sleeping, and nobody got up because everyone on hearing the noise of someone walking just thought it's one of the other people living in the house. I don't do this because i hardly stay in hotels, especially alone, but I first saw this recommended by flight attendants YEARS ago when i was considering applying to be one. They stay in a lot of hotels all over the world. I've seen a few say that either they, or another flight attendant on their flight, have gone into their room and someone was inside hiding/waiting to rob/attack them. Obviously this is rare, but I think it makes sense that the more you stay in hotels the more likely you are to have the rare thing happen. Like break ins aren't common, but if you owned 1000 houses the chances of any 1 being broken into is much higher.
in this video the girl is stupid, obviously you wouldn't clean the place before grabbing your bag, but it should only take you a few seconds to see there's no one in the room, so leaving your suitcase leaves the door open for a quick escape, and if you yell others are more likely to hear you. and as for someone stealing your bag or coming in after you, it's much easier to see/hear if anyone is in the hallway before going in. Like i said, i don't do this, but if you stay in hotels a lot and taking 5 seconds makes you feel better, by all means

People are so emotional it's funny like yeah I'm sure if hasan had a gun to his head he'd just start laughing and go "don't you know I'm a 6'6 male" yeah I don't think that would work very well guys, yes women are more vulnerable to violence but the idea that being a big guy will save you from everything is just unserious.
also those portable door locks were marketed as very secure but Mcnallyofficial opens one with a empty milk jugg in one of his shorts in about 1.5 seconds and the video he featured was actually an ad for the lock which basically did the same thing these videos did where they pretend to be a random tiktoker but it's actually paid promotion.

Its not that it will necessarily save him but you'd imagine robbers/etc will somewhat pick their targets. Who are you more likely to Rob? An 85 year old woman with a cane or a 6'4 MMA fighter? Obviously a gun can keep both in check but most people won't target people they anticipate will be more trouble.

Maybe it won’t prevent every possible bad thing, but as a large man, I breeze through situations that should be dangerous to normal people. It’s the opposite side of the world being dangerous for women. Everybody is afraid of you, for better or worse

Security theater was already taking off 20-25 years ago, with 24/7 media and 9-11... cant imagine growing up deep in the psychological brain rot. Glad I'm old.

The lock pick guy who shows how easy it is to break locks has already shown (if I remember correctly) that type of portable door lock has flaws and can be unlocked with like a credit card

I feel like some scumbag is gonna come across her content and take it as a challenge to dismantle her strange obsessive security measures successfully and documenting all of this shit is opening herself up to more potential danger and bad actors than she would’ve been to begin with if she just kept it to herself idk are public figures more prone to stalker situations or something there’s gotta be some stats on that but hope I’m wrong I guess I don’t wanna know what this lady would do if her fears were confirmed and someone did break into her space like she seems irrationally paranoid enough as is I don’t want her to like crack and hide out in an underground for the rest of her life or something crazy
