- Projects for Kids! Eli...bored again, wanted to make a squirrel spinner! We had to make several revisions to get it right. The best combo was PVC + PAM...very entertaining! The best clips are in the first 3-4 minutes...after that just for those squirrel junkies :-)

well shoot...the river too high to frog or fish...might as well mess w/ the squirrels :-)
You might try replacing one of the corn cobs with a weight equivalent to a squirrel. So that way if the squirrel goes for one of the corn spokes, the counterweight may help it spin 360 degrees better, and keep up the momentum. This thing really needs to launch those squirrels :)

Sometimes the simple ideas are the best! This was brilliant! I enjoyed watching the squirrels try and try and fall and fall! They seemed to get just enough to keep them coming back for more torture haha!

I love this!!! However, the squirrels learn to wait until they are on the bottom and then eat. I will make one similar, but with ONE of the legs having a weight, 2-3 pounds or so on it and NO corn. That one will always be on the bottom, so the squirrels will have to go to one of the others and get spun! Thanks for the great project!

The corn at the spinner end gave the squirrel the motivation to keep spinning and entertaining us 😂😂 The best part was his balance ...he seemed to be a very seasoned spinner but hats off to you for making it perfectly with the incentive 🤣🤣🤣 Big 👍and bell for my new friend.

Suggestion: add a funnel with the narrow end facing the center on each arm, that way the squirrel can't reach the corn as easily. Should add even more fun.

Not too bad, but the squirrel still seems to get to the trays and if there is even any food in them.

Instead of using PAM use Armour All. Put several layers. Spray, buff and spray again. If you want to try, spray a little armor all on your tile floor and hit it with socks on. Works really well on slip n slides too.

I think it would be better if you removed the square wooden blocks and instead used a piece of pvc or a metal rod that rotates with the spinner as an axle. You would have to put a bearing on both sides of the plywood and space the plywood off the tree a bit, but it should work. That way when the squirrels try to escape, they would be grabbing onto something that is smaller, round and spinning.

lol too late...already happened!
Needs 3 things. First is a ratchet locking system... Second is a large watch spring... Third is a blind rope...
Put the spring onto the spinner. Use the ratchet locking system to store the energy. Pull on the blind rope until you get it nice and tight. When the critters get onto the spinner, their weight or jiggling should release the locking system, which releases the power stored in the spring. As the spring unwinds, the blind rope will be wound up by the rotations of the spinner. Pull on rope to reset.
