That crow doing the long jump was literally just having fun. Crows are very high up on the intellect scale and will often do things not for survival, but rather just for fun. They can also learn how to speak other languages.

I imagine he records his backyard all season and condenses their highlights into a 23 minute video. What we don't see is the hundreds of hours of video that nothing happens. Basically a crap ton of hard work editing.

That, and we have no idea what order the events were recorded in, or how many times they were redone. He can reorganize them so the result is an even split with a tiebreaker, even if in reality one team scored 4 in a row. Rearrange them so the 4th is the last event and bam, instant tension.
