Paul T, you have such a GREAT sense of humor. I laughed so much reading your captions while watching. The main thing is I learned for the first time how to defeat my squirrels with alot of laughs
Very well done video! I'm in the northeast part of the US and am currently at war with the squirrels. They've figured out how to get past the slinky. I cut the tops and bottoms off of a bunch of 2L soda bottles and slid those over almost the whole pole. It doesn't look pretty but so far it is working for me. They are adorable, devious little creatures. I still throw down a little seed on the ground for them, I just don't want them cleaning out my feeders every day.
Love the narration of the squirrels, I laughed so hard. Thanks I needed this, this morning. Great video!!!!! Thanks for the education on the squirrels.
I wouldn't mind, but they literally eat everything we put out. I can't afford that. We want more birds because, aside from looking and sounding pretty, they help tremendously in controlling insects. The squirrels push the birds out and eat ALL of the seed.
We watched many times the squirrel figuring out our latest squirrel proof feeder. Amusing and frustrating. One of them couldn't get to the seeds so he peed on it! Love the squirrel conversation on this video! From Arkansas, USA.
I feed the Squirrels and birds. That way I never got angry at them.. then the Deer eat their share and the Racoon finishes it up. Everyday. 360 lbs of seed every winter season... Love them all.
So do we, and our garden seems to work in shifts - little birds, large birds, squirrels all get their share, and the pigeons wait below the feeders and grab any spillage as it falls.

Thanks for a very informative and entertaining "man versus squirrel" video. I live in the USA, and am so sad to hear that the grey squirrels are decimating your adorable red squirrels. But, I'm glad to see that you have found a way to defeat them, even if it's only temporary...or, hopefully, it's a permanent solution. 💚💜💚
such an excellent video, very amusing and educational at the same time, and your filming & editting skills are just amazing. I have grey squirrels and had given up trying to feed the birds, so this gives me a new method to try!
Love your video! Very amusing reading the chats and what a great idea with the slinky 🙂. Here in Ontario Canada we have the grey, black and sometimes the red squirrels would appear. I use the domes on the feeder poles about three quarters up and it works so far. You can often see the squirrels climbing the poles, goes under the dome and slides right down back Lol! Thank you for educating us on your red squirrels.
Slinky worked fine for a few days then one squirrel just kept climbing all the way up the slinky and taught all the other squirrels how too, smart little critters!
Hi Paul, great too see you again.I’ve gone back and forth about getting some feeders but have been reluctant because of the many squirrels. I think your solution convinced me to give it a try.It looks pretty full proof as well as entertaining.
This video was awesome, and you made me laugh out loud more than once with your captions 😅. I can relate to your squirrel troubles as well. Thank you, Paul, for such an entertaining and very informative video creation 🥰. Much appreciated!
This video had me cracking up , it was simple brilliant and most entertaining, like watching a movie. Paul T you are really good at this. I’m surely going to try this on them.these squirrels are cute but a pain. Thanks
I've seen some really good squirrel videos of man versus squirrel or woman versus squirrel and this video is right up there with them! And I appreciate the response I received from the person who owns this video I was very honored to receive that!
Wonderfully well done. Your video reminds me of the battles I waged with our local flying squirrel population... alas, I came in 2nd. As a side note, here in New England the local red squirrels -- while a good bit smaller than the grays -- are far more aggressive than their larger cousins.
Thank Michael. Sorry you got the silver and the squirrels got the gold medal - I suppose runner-up is not too bad 😆. Interesting your red squirrels are holding their own on all counts.
@@paultsworld I am in Southeast Michigan, and in the last few years the red squirrels have started getting into places and causing tremndous damage. The gray squirrels are docile compared to the red. It must be the water of something. Thank you for your creative and entertaining video.
@@criticalthinkingmatters glad you enjoyed my video. Interesting that your reds are aggressive and our native red ones are quite small and retiring being no match for the hefty greys.
I have learned tricks to keep away the squirrels from my bird feeder and I have laughed so hard. I had a great time watching this informative video. You have a great sense of humour and the squirrels were good actors as well !!!. Thank you so much !
I am so pleased you enjoyed my video - I had a lot of fun making it and it is all so worthwhile when I know it has been enjoyed. Of course I could only make it because of all the work my squirrels did at the gym beforehand. 👍
Welcome back, Paul! I got a couple laughs with the squirrel brawl audio; thanks for that! I've had awesome success with the 5" steel round duct pipe (cut to size). No squirrels on my feeders for about a year. They ARE intelligent animals though...they spent hours trying from every angle. However, once they "gave up", they never tried again. Pesky squirrels. Awesome job with the audio and titles Paul! Cheers to you for another enjoyable watch!
Hi Nate - I hoped you'd like the sound design - did you listen on your headphones for maximum effect? 😅. That 5" duct pipe sounds effective - luckily my squirrels have given up trying - don't need to fill the feeders so often now! Cheers mate, Paul
@@paultsworld Yep! The squirrel match was fantastic, as well as the birds bathing. Forgot to mention...nice to see a bit of your snow as well as the little white flowers (promise of Spring). 🌸 FINALLY! 🥂
Been trying to get the squirrels to quit destroying my plants and dumping bird food all over. I built a feeder with an old umbrella, looks cool but need to find a way so they can’t get in there by jumping from underneath. Thanks for all your great ideas!
That’s a nice yard you have. Managing squirrels is like a job. I just feed mine peanuts and it usually satisfies them. It’s too stressful shooing them away. I put most of the seed on the ground for all the animals. You just have to accept your garden becoming a zoo a couple of times a day. I like the slinky. If I ever set my pole up again I will try it. I’ll let someone else keep reinventing the wheel. Cheers
I love squirrels but they eat the bird food too fast so these ideas are great. Thank you for sharing! Im glad the squirrels didnt get hurt; they got a good work out with the obstacles and they got to eat apples too... they are gonna be super healthy and fit! 🤭🙂
I’ve missed you!!!!!!! Gray squirrels are a real nuisance at bird feeders here in the USA, too. I call them “tree rats”. Sorry some idiot let them loose in the UK! This video, however, was thoroughly entertaining! The music, sound effects and captions were perfectly matched to the action. Well done! 🚫🐿
Great vid! There is a guy, Mark Rober, an engineer, who has devoted weeks/months developing obstacle courses for squirrels. I think he started with devices like yours. If you haven't, watch it and be prepared to be highly entertained! Of course, squirrels are pretty entertaining even without our help. Lol Sorry to hear about your red squirrel problems.
I just started bird feeding. All the birds came to the yard on day 1 and day 2, it was so exciting, then no more thanks to the pesky squirrels. Thank you for the tips. I will try them all!
An amazing video for a rainy Saturday morning in Wisconsin. I’m planning to venture out today to purchase my first bird feeder, and I’m thankful for the squirrel tips before I start this new chapter of my life. 😊 Thank you, Paul T., for the amazing content and the laughs.
Absolutely loved this 😂 I don’t have this problem thankfully. Here in Iowa we are going from -22 two weeks ago to 45 today so am now busy starting seeds indoors and so looking forward to spring. Thanks Paul. I always get uplifted by seeing your videos 😊❤️
So pleased you enjoyed the video Vicki. Wow, yes I have been following your weather - must have been the biggest temperature difference ...ever! Seeds time now for you.😊
Hi Paul. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and beautiful yard. Last summer I finally got fed up with the squirrels eating the bird seed and suet so I declared war on them. I purchased two baffles and so far that has worked. They were so angry that they dug up my fall crop of lettuce and spinach and ran off with the gourds that were on my deck. They are such brats!!!
Hi Jacqueline, sorry to hear they dug up your vegetable patch. Mine are coming much less regularly now and I'm hoping they find someone else's garden where there are no slinkys or baffles. I did notice one run along the fence with one of my Spring bulbs in its mouth - no doubt in revenge!
That's a really good question, I would say definitely. I don't have any evidence but I know rats are super cautious and suspicious of everything - I just can't see a rat climbing something (either inside or outside the slinky) which is shaking all over the place. I think a dome or baffle would work as well. Let me know if you test it out.
Cutest video I’ve ever seen. I giggled so much. I clicked on it because the squirrels are emptying my bird feeder, even though it’s supposed to be squirrel proof. I can’t figure out how they do it, though I’ve been watching them.
I just found this video and loved it. Quite entertaining to say the least. You even got the little birdies taking their bath, which is always a happy scene. I am currently dealing with the squirrels. They are emptying the bird feeders so quickly that I cannot possibly afford to keep feeding the birds unless I figure this out. We are looking for a slinky currently but are having trouble finding one. Loved your video.
I live in Upstate NY, & have so many dang annoying & truly devious, determined squirrels that, unfortunately DO like suet. They constantly eat all the suet that I put out for the woodpeckers & small birds. They have jumped from the tree to get on the suet, & even broke 110 lb fishing line that holds up the feeders. So, I am going to try the slinky on the poles, & the baffles on the feeders that hold the suets. I absolutely loved your video, especially with all the 'adding's' you put in to jazz it up. I laughed through it. I'm headed to Lowe's for baffles & Walmart for the slinky. Hopefully it will work. I do use the red pepper flakes around my tomato plants & that works great. I will be trying these, & if the slinky doesn't work, I will try the 2 L soda bottle on the pole. I'm willing to try anything to get rid of these squirrels.
Mine have also started eating suet! You might need a baffle and then a slinky below it for the pole. Maybe wire instead of fishing line as their teeth will go through the fishing line. Glad you enjoyed my video! 👍🐿️
Enjoyed the video! I'm happy to help all my wildlife visitors, birds, hedgehogs, foxes, squirrels, mice etc. Red squirrels were hunted by humans almost to extinction in the 18th century & in the last 150 years had to be introduced to the UK mostly from Scandinavia to try to up their numbers. This was long after grey squirrels were introduced to the UK so they're no more native than the greys if you consider grey squirrels to be non native. At the same time in the 1920's red squirrels were killed here as pests, if you have a read of the facts about squirrels & the UK you can see demonising the greys is a bit faulty to say the least. There's far too much to put here but look for the scientific research articles rather than the anti grey squirrel 'information'.
@@paultsworld yeah its lovely here 2, and I'm hoping it's going to stay so I can get out and get started clearing up after the horrible winter we've had here.🙂
@@paultsworld definitely I think we all need it, it's been a terrible time but there's light at the end of the tunnel better days to come, take care 👍😁
Just found your video, whilst looking up anti-squirrel feeders. I recently started putting up feeders in the garden and have a gang of squirrels hogging them. I like the slinky idea. My feeders are hanging on a washing line so that might stop them climbing the pole. They currently do an upside down shuffle along the washing line. My squirrels love fat balls. They've eaten a small fortune of them. That's when I decided it was my turn and I bought a Squirrel Buster. It's only been a couple of days but they're deterred, it seems, by the clattering of the new feeder. One of the smarter squirrels did hand over foot past the squirrel buster to get some seeds from the next feeder. Only problem with the squirrle buster is it's not really designed for suet balls, though I have broken some up. Too big and it blocks the feeder. I do like watching the squirrels. In an ideal world I'd have the reds but getting rid of greys is gonna be next to impossible. May as well enjoy them (sorry, tolerate them). Actually live near Brownsea Island. Been many a time but them reds are hard to see. Video was great; funny and helpful.
Thank you - I’m pleased you liked my video. It sounds as though your squirrels are providing plenty of interest with their antics - I know it’s difficult to resist the cuteness factor! Yes, pity about the reds - I’m not that far from Formby where there is another red squirrel stronghold - although like at Brownsea sometimes they’re difficult to find. There were always so many around at Formby 50 years ago.
Hello Paul! Thank you for providing the absolute BEST laugh I have had in more time than I can remember 😊Your commentary was perfect and their antics are familiar. Here in Portsmouth NH we also have a serious problem with gray squirrels. They overpopulate, they get into attics and chew up infrastructure. Even get into utility rooms with serious consequences. Given their level of destruction in my garden you would think I could find NO humor in them but you characterized them so perfectly it was wonderful! Thank You! Now, do you have any solutions for dealing with woodchucks? They just destroyed my only two roses in my little flower bed 😐…..
Hi Janice, I am very pleased you ‘got’ my humour and enjoyed it. You are correct, Squirrels do have charisma- as well as destructive habits. Unfortunately I don’t have any helpful advice on woodchucks as we don’t have any in Britain, but good luck with coming up with something!
Thanks will definitely try these tips. I showed it to my brothers who love squirrels and they laughed so hard at the beginning part! Very nice taping, captions, and information!🤣👌
Thank you Paul for this amazing video! So cute. Very good work! Pictures are fantastic.Very good idea this spring! I love your humor. I hope that red squirrel will be saved 😍😂👌🏻
I'm glad you outsmarted those pesky seed thieves. I'm in the US and my squirrels love suet. The only thing that has worked for me is the kind of feeders w/ a cage around them that birds fit past but squirrels don't. young squirrels can fit but after eating seed for a few weeks they grow too fat.
I really enjoyed this, very relaxing. I'm sitting in the conservatory with a cup of tea watching a pair of doves courting on the pergola. I haven't seen squirrels around here for many years but I will be vigilant from now on. I only started feeding the birds a couple of weeks ago and I'm amazed at the variety of birds. Unfortunately, no finches of any sort yet.
Doves courting - Spring is on it's way! How nice you are getting a variety of birds - I'm sure the finches will suddenly turn up, once word gets out that your garden is the place to be. Glad you enjoyed my video Patricia.
I was wondering why you had gray squirrels instead of red, thanks for the explanation! Here in the Midwest US we have been inundated with your starlings. I would much rather be awash with hedgehogs or nightingales. Starlings are all just flying seed vacuums. They've cleaned out my month's supply of sunflower seed in a hour before; they come in hordes. I've spent so much money replacing bird feeders that the squirrels ruin with those little teeth. Plastic & wooden feeders are the worst, so I try to stick with metal. They also chew through the wires hanging from the feeders to drop them to the ground. The Droll Yankees yankee dipper & the Brome squirrel buster plus are the most effective squirrel deterrents I've found as of yet. This was an adorable & funny video! The splashy bird bath intermission was a nice touch, thank you from Illinois 😀
Sorry about our starlings Allie - would you believe yours are all descended from 100 that were released in Central Park NYC - only 20 years or so after the grey squirrels were released in Britain. If only those Victorians knew what we know now! Bizarrely starlings are much less common in Britain - we don't know why. I'm pleased you enjoyed the video and thank you for your comment.
I just love your nature photography! You could almost see the squirrel's little cogwheels working overtime on solving the problem🤣 I wonder if an older squirrel would be up for the challenge. I don't have squirrels in my garden. My area is Forest Oak and Juniper land and the Sierra Norte squirrels are mainly found within the pine tree forests. So no furry friends or foe in my garden. Thanks for a very entertaining video.
Thanks Una. I'm just trying to find a picture of your Sierra Norte squirrels - are they like our small red squirrels with tufted ears, or are they more like the North American grey?
Luckily we still have the red squirrel. We do unfortunately also have the grey squirrel but we have a lot of pine trees and apparently grey squirrels aren't well equipped to eat pine seeds so the pine forests have become a safe haven for the red squirrel.
@@paultsworld 😂😂😂 I am proud of my age and what I have done so far ...and a lot coming again ...if god want ! 🙏 65 is golden age ...full pension plan and just having great time ...no more working 🤪...just editing great trips ! Take care ! H&S 👩❤️👨🌈🇨🇦
If the feeder is away from jumping distance and the pole is high enough with a baffle they just can't jump round a baffle and hold on - so it can be done lol.
@@vickiezaccardo1711 once they start chewing holes in your house to roost for the winter you may change your mind. They are rodents and will chew into your home where they can.
I feed my squirrels and birds black oil sunflower seeds! They love it and squirrels need to eat too! Loved the video, especially the sound effects! 👍👍👍👍😂😂😂
Really enjoyed this video, just found your channel and been binge watching. I'm not sure which part of the uk you're from, however recently the Staffordshire wildlife Trust sent a poll for reintroducing specific wildlife back and pine marten was one of them, through research I found out that pine martens predate grey squrriel or reds! So hopefully oneday I'll see a red in my lifetime.
Hi, I’m sure somebody already commented regarding the north American gray squirrels - actually they are native to the USA Northwest. On the contrary, we feed the gray squirrels! Our issue is the brown eastern squirrel - they are the pests in Oregon! 😂 The eastern squirrels are smaller, less of a bushy tail, faster and louder than the local gray squirrels. Nonetheless, I have noticed hybrids - gray squirrels with patches of tan. Your gray squirrels seem to be less shy than our locals, I guess it has to do with squirrel nationalities😂❤ thank you for your adorable video!
Thank you for your information - I didn’t know the greys were native to the Northwest - or indeed that the brown eastern were smaller. Sounds as though native is best. Glad you enjoyed my video 👍
Very well done and informative video. Truly appreciate this. Got a bird feeder for Xmas so am planning on putting it up in a tree and we have plenty of grey and back squirrels in the area. Cheers!
Most entertaining squirrel proof video I have watched thus far. LOL.😆 One fellow had a squirrel who beat the slinky. I suggested putting Vaseline on the pole, but he had given up and decided to feed the squirrels. For some reason, the birds started throwing the sunflower seeds on the ground all of a sudden. So, I let the squirrel eat whatever is on the ground. He's funny... when he sees me, he flattens like a pancake on the ground. LOL But he does steal the suet from the feeder.
Hi Paul, I really enjoyed watching this video and I loved your sub titles. Last year I decided to leave my sunflowers in situ thinking the birds would enjoy the seed heads but a pesky squirrel climbed up one of the stalks, chomped around it and managed to separate it from the head. He then ran off with it which was so funny as it was twice his size but he still managed to run along my fence panels and jump on my neighbours' shed roof where he finally got his gnashers into it. The look on his face was as if to say, "I'm not sharing this, it's all mine." Most of my sunflowers lost their heads so I assume he came back for more when I wasn't looking. Best wishes, Wendy.
Your story made me chuckle Wendy. Their antics certainly can be funny. I was thinking how clever I was this morning with these devices - when I noticed a squirrel up in the tree enjoying an early breakfast of one of my iris bulbs - with another one dug up - presumably for tomorrow's breakfast.
On behalf of North America, I apologize for the invasion of grey squirrels that you've suffered from...... I live on the east coast of the US, and our grey squirrels are masters of ingenuity and persistence. They have loved the suet I put out for birds-in winter - have stolen several suet cages. I guess they decided that instead of trying to eat it through the cross-hatched wire, they would just untie my elaborate fastenings, and carry it off to the woods! In spring or summer, I have sometimes found an empty suet cage under the leaves. I have enjoyed your great videos, with funny captions. Thank you! Going to try the slinky, and some other modifications when I can get to it.
Thank you - I am very pleased you’ve enjoyed my videos. Ironically it was British people who brought some greys over here from the US in the late 1880s and of course they escaped. Good luck with the slinkys! 🐿️
A large diameter ducting pipe would suit your needs. Squirrels can't shimmy up a smooth wide diameter plastic or sheet metal pipe. Look for something in your local hardware shop and cut to size. Search on TH-cam for 'anti squirrel duct pipe' for inspiration. Good Luck.
So glad you enjoyed the squirrels’ antics 👍😀 Ps they are still together - Martha came back, their kids went to University - did a degree in slinky climbing. The rest is history.
Love what you’ve done Paul. I live in Hollywood Florida and have gray squirrels. So sad what is happening to the red squirrels. If I’m ever in the UK would love to visit you. You have an interesting backyard. Thanks for your videos. 😊
Hi Arthur, glad you enjoyed my video - yes, these grey squirrels have pretty much taken over Britain - except for the pine forests in Scotland which doesn't suit them. luckily our red squirrels like coniferous trees so they are more numerous in the North.
Hi, Paul! I've been to the UK several times, I immediately liked the local nature, and today I liked your video. I was concerned about the problem of the disappearance of red British squirrels. And that's what came to my mind: we need to make feeders for squirrels with a video camera and a chip that would allow red squirrels to feed, and block the feed for gray ones. Maybe there are already such projects? Or are UK-naturalists against feeding any squirrels?
Hello Alex, So pleased you like our little island. The main problem is that grey squirrels carry a pox virus which is harmless to them but deadly to the red squirrels. I believe our naturalists do provide nesting places and food for the red squirrels in the places they still occur. In wild places pine martens are helping because they can catch the greys but not the quicker reds!
Thank you for posting this amusing video. It is educational as well. Your editing and filming skills are simply amazing. I am in Long Island, New York. I have around 4-6 gray squirrels in my backyard that feast on black oil sunflower seeds which I put for Blue Jays and Cardinals. I found mixing safflower seeds in the sunflower seeds also deters squirrels. Cardinals love safflower seeds. I will try your methods; hopefully, it will frustrate the pesky squirrels to leave. Squirrels are always infested with fleas and can transmit them to pet dogs.
Hello Mr T, it is good to see you again. I am very fortunate because I have never seen a grey squirrel in my fatherland! I have heard that they are, in fact, already ante portas, but not in my area for sure. Our red squirrels are rather shy and gentle creatures, I hardly ever see them in winter, they probably hibernate when the temperature drops a lot below zero anyway. They do not cause any problems for me. This morning I saw some interesting birds, namely a wren (I am really glad it has survived the harsh winter) and a goldcrest in my garden as well as two buzzards above my head.
Hello pertelote, you are fortunate to have just your native reds. How nice to see the wren and goldcrest. I see a goldcrest about three times each year - Europe's smallest bird, and what a cutie with it's little, but colourful, crest. Hope you had the real Winter you wanted but I feel it was probably interrupted by unseasonably warm wind blowing from the South. When I was a boy we didn't have buzzards - but lots of kestrels - now buzzards are our most common birds of prey and kestrels are on the decline.
I live in Florida, and the squirrels have prevented me from feeding the birds. It seems that no matter what I do they find a way around it. I am going to try your suggestions to see if I can enjoy some birdwatching in my own backyard. My backyard has a very large drainage ditch (the HOA calls it a “lake”) that about 20 homes circle around. We have ducks and I do feed them. They eat right away where I can watch. The squirrels respect the ducks space so there is never an issue. Thank you for a most enjoyable video. The commentary had me chuckling. It’s satisfying to get one over on those pesky squirrels. I am so sorry about your red squirrels. They should catch the gray ones and return them to us.
Thank you - glad you enjoyed my video. Good luck with getting your set-up to feed the birds - I think that a baffle will also be necessary and out of jumping range. Good luck!
great idea Paul. Don't know if they still sell slinky's at the store. Old school toys now. I love the comments you put on the squirrels! Great and funny.

This was so humorous. We don’t mind feeding squirrels along with our birds. They are fun to watch. We have grey, red and a family of flying squirrels.
Wow, that's quite a variety of squirrels - flying squirrels are adorable.
“Along with..” is the key here. The squirrels are jealous gluttons. “All mine” as the squirrel stands on one while eating the other.
Say what you will about the squirrel, however, a squirrel won’t eat your food then crap all over your new Porsche!
I gave up struggling. I named the feeder, Critter Feeder. First come first served. God made Squirrels also.
I wouldn't mind, but they literally eat everything we put out. I can't afford that. We want more birds because, aside from looking and sounding pretty, they help tremendously in controlling insects. The squirrels push the birds out and eat ALL of the seed.

Glad you liked the video Maria - that's very nice of you to say so. Worth a try if you have squirrels and it's stopping you feeding the birds.
Ha, ha - so pleased you enjoyed my efforts at humour Karine. 🐿️
Hands down one of the best videos I've seen. OMGosh I was laughing so hard 😂😂
I am so pleased Moni - you’ve made my day with your comment. Laughing is the best medicine. 👍😀
This video had me cracking up , it was simple brilliant and most entertaining, like watching a movie. Paul T you are really good at this.
I’m surely going to try this on them.these squirrels are cute but a pain. Thanks
I am pleased you liked my video Claire - good luck with the slinky.
I've seen some really good squirrel videos of man versus squirrel or woman versus squirrel and this video is right up there with them! And I appreciate the response I received from the person who owns this video I was very honored to receive that!
Thank you and you are most welcome.
Cheers mate,
Paul

Yep! The squirrel match was fantastic, as well as the birds bathing.
Forgot to mention...nice to see a bit of your snow as well as the little white flowers (promise of Spring). 🌸 FINALLY!
🥂
Those snowdrops are really nice - they start to flower in late January!
Been trying to get the squirrels to quit destroying my plants and dumping bird food all over. I built a feeder with an old umbrella, looks cool but need to find a way so they can’t get in there by jumping from underneath. Thanks for all your great ideas!
Well done - good luck!
Cheers
That’s a good philosophy. 👍Unfortunately I can’t put food on the ground as it attracts rats.
I love squirrels but they eat the bird food too fast so these ideas are great. Thank you for sharing! Im glad the squirrels didnt get hurt; they got a good work out with the obstacles and they got to eat apples too... they are gonna be super healthy and fit! 🤭🙂
Thank you - yes, the squirrels eat OK in my garden.
Well done! 🚫🐿
Thanks so much JC!
Your sound effects are great, very funny. I enjoyed your video tremendously, so you got yourself a new sub.
Thank you and welcome to my channel!
Great vid! There is a guy, Mark Rober, an engineer, who has devoted weeks/months developing obstacle courses for squirrels. I think he started with devices like yours. If you haven't, watch it and be prepared to be highly entertained! Of course, squirrels are pretty entertaining even without our help. Lol
Sorry to hear about your red squirrel problems.
I’ve seen Mark Rober’s videos - he is brilliant isn’t he! Just amazing the ideas he comes up with and his contraptions are genius.
I just started bird feeding. All the birds came to the yard on day 1 and day 2, it was so exciting, then no more thanks to the pesky squirrels. Thank you for the tips. I will try them all!
I hope the methods work for you.

An amazing video for a rainy Saturday morning in Wisconsin. I’m planning to venture out today to purchase my first bird feeder, and I’m thankful for the squirrel tips before I start this new chapter of my life. 😊 Thank you, Paul T., for the amazing content and the laughs.
Thank you Leah, enjoy watching all the new visitors to your garden 👍 🐦
Absolutely loved this 😂 I don’t have this problem thankfully. Here in Iowa we are going from -22 two weeks ago to 45 today so am now busy starting seeds indoors and so looking forward to spring. Thanks Paul. I always get uplifted by seeing your videos 😊❤️
So pleased you enjoyed the video Vicki. Wow, yes I have been following your weather - must have been the biggest temperature difference ...ever!
Seeds time now for you.😊
Definitely going to try the dome ! I enjoyed spending time with you. Thank you so much from Kentucky!
Domes really work, thank you for watching and regards to Kentucky.
Really enjoyed this video. I have tried everything! But I need to try the slinky and that large baffle on top!
Glad you enjoyed the video - yes, try that combination…it works well for me.
That was awesome, I love the squirrel banter. I enjoyed the video for both the laughter and the education. Amazon here I come!
Glad you enjoyed my squirrels chit-chat Anna. Good luck (and thank you) with your anti-squirrel devices.
brilliant editing with the rumble in the trees, made me laugh and it looks like for now you have won this battle.
Thank you - I am really pleased you liked my video - yes, I’m still winning!
Hi Paul, great video! Just wondering if you think the slinky would also prevent rats....we had them scaling the feeder pole in the autumn 😖
That is so nice to hear you enjoyed my video. Try a slinky and baffle - see if that works for you. 👍
If you have access to Amazon they have slinkys. I have a link in my description if you need it - also I recommend the domes.
Thank you for your resume on the history of the two squirrels.
Hello from Nashville. Your videos are all awesome but this is my favorite. You made me laugh so hard. I love it!

Good day! The boxing part.😂 I enjoy the subtitles, and yes, ways to gently keep the squirrels from eating all of the bird seed. Blessings!🙏🏾🙌🏾😌
Glad you liked the boxing sequence - I enjoyed making the video. 🌻
@@paultsworld Thank you! You did an awesome job.😃
You are correct,
Squirrels do have charisma- as well as destructive habits.
Unfortunately I don’t have any helpful advice on woodchucks as we don’t have any in Britain, but good luck with coming up with something!

@@paultsworld Yes it's a shame.
That's funny that the young ones get too fat to get inside the cage.
So entertaining ....and helpful! 🙂👍

Thank you - I am very pleased you enjoyed the ‘show’.
Yes, at least the reds have more or less exclusive areas of pine forest - same in Britain.

A friend of mine says the squirrels in their yard always find ways around those methods. Any alternatives, or are we just doing it wrong?
If the feeder is away from jumping distance and the pole is high enough with a baffle they just can't jump round a baffle and hold on - so it can be done lol.
Now why would I do that? I love them as much as I love the birds.
Fair comment.
Me too. And the rabbits.
Because in my garden the squirrels destroy the feeders and allow all the seed to flow to the ground.

Hi, I’m sure somebody already commented regarding the north American gray squirrels - actually they are native to the USA Northwest.
On the contrary, we feed the gray squirrels! Our issue is the brown eastern squirrel - they are the pests in Oregon! 😂
The eastern squirrels are smaller, less of a bushy tail, faster and louder than the local gray squirrels.
Nonetheless, I have noticed hybrids - gray squirrels with patches of tan.
Your gray squirrels seem to be less shy than our locals, I guess it has to do with squirrel nationalities😂❤
thank you for your adorable video!
Thank you for your information - I didn’t know the greys were native to the Northwest - or indeed that the brown eastern were smaller.

Thanks Joanie - glad you enjoyed it and you seem to be having fun with all the antics in your garden.

Love your garden thanks for the tips.😊
You’re welcome! 👍
Very Nice Video, with a nice sutle bit of education at the end, very well done Sir!
Thank you - I appreciate your comment.
Do you have any ideas for a wooden bird table instead? A baffle or slinky wouldn't fit around the wooden bird table leg.
Good Luck.

Hello Alex,
So pleased you like our little island.
Glad you enjoyed my video. Interesting that you find mixing the seeds helps deter the squirrels.
Good luck!
