It was (and always is) how you and your "production team" do the videos, the improv, making us all laugh in the end (well, except for a few Porsche enthusiasts!...)...as for me, I DO enjoy the learning aspect of your videos, as well as the knowledge you and your production team pour upon us less fortunate souls. So keep up the great work my brother, as we'll keep hitting those "LIKE" buttons. Take care.

We got out, I got under a pickup, sons were jumping up and down in the truck beds, and not one salesperson came out to check on us. We checked out the trucks, and left. There is a special C-Clamp made just for this purpose, and I've got one holding my exhaust manifold to the catalytic converter flange right now.(2010 Equinox 2.4L) Amazon sells the American-made version and O'Reilly's sells the Chinese-made version. My American-made one did not come with all the parts it was supposed to, so I had to get a second one from O'Reilly's, and I can tell you that the Chinese one was much better made and had all the necessary parts. My local NAPA regional distributor not only didn't sell these devices, they had never heard of them and were mystified that such devices might ever be needed or even exist.
These clamps come in different sizes and are more compact than some of the regular C-Clamps, which is helpful in cramped spaces. On Amazon, the name of the device is - "Nickson 17351 Clamp-A-Stud." The same company also makes clamps that work to attach exhaust manifolds to V-8, V-6 and In-line 6 heads where you have broken off a stud or can't easily replace a missing one - very ingenuous devices, but slightly more expensive than the $5 Harbor Freight/Porsche-certified clamps.
P.S. Porsche odometers only go to 99,999 miles. You know why - no one's ever gone further than that in one, so there's no customer demand.

Westen, Great story! Never underestimate the power of "C"! I've got surface mounted lighting track in my kitchen for spotlights. It comes in sections that clip together. This is an old house and the ceilings are uneven. None of the lights at the end of the track would work until I installed a c clamp on the last joint. Well that was 2000 and the clamp is still there and everything is still working! The power of C brother!!! Regards Stephen.

You're absolutely correct about Porsche owners and dealers. They haven't changed in 45 years. One of my co workers was a Porsche owner with all the usual quirks. We thought it was great fun to spray a little motorcycle chain lube on the bottom of the engine and on the ground and tell him "Hey Ronnie. I think your car is leaking oil again." He'd leave work for an emergency trip to the Porsche dealer, they'd clean it up, find no leaks and send him home until a couple weeks later it would happen again.

I will take my chances with Porsche any day. Second best car I owned was a Toyota Celica in the 80s. Third best was an Acura. But, master cylinder failed at 37,000 miles. Oh, that's a good one. Most manufacturers nowadays have gone way south sad to say. But, I had a good laugh at your story. A temporary fix that worked better for 4 years than what those mechanics at Porsche were doing. And why should they fix it properly if you keep coming back so they can rip you off? They think you're stupid. I think you're brilliant.

For anyone that wants a sports car that is reliable, just get something North American with a V8. They are much more affordable, fun as heck to drive, and ......RELIABLE.
I got a 2018 Mustang GT, and it's been very reliable, fun to drive, and screams like a banshee when my foot gets heavy.

    • @ChrisMag100
      @ChrisMag100 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Better get a manual. The Mustang auto transmissions are made in China and have proven to be less than reliable. Never mind that their interiors are rattle boxes new off the showroom floor.
FWIW, I love the look and sound of the Mustang GT. I test drove one before buying my used Cayman S. 2.5 years and 26000 (44000 total) miles later, no issues.
A common debate I have with my buddies is Cayman vs Vette. The argument is that my oil changes are expensive. However, what I spend on oil changes and tires they spend on cheaper oil changes and way more than expensive tires ($2500/set), so maintenance wise, the cars are about the same. Also, one friend’s Z06 has cost him $2,000 in repairs in 3 months and the other friend had to do a full motor rebuild due to a spun crank bearing, on a car with 80,000 miles.

You are right on some accounts. As a Porsche owner I have seen some of the older models with almost 300 miles. Most get rebuilt before they reach that stage. For the most part the engineering and reliability is very good and they take a good deal of abuse. Porsche only does one thing that's admirable and ground breaking is a 911. More than 50 years of racing history to preserve the brand. If they only built 911's they would be out of business as a car manufacturer. So they as many other manufacturers keep the company afloat by building SUV's and sedans. Yes! It's a nitichy crowd of owners and Porsche will charge you $25 for $2 bolt. What can I say it has its history and following. Great vlogs.

    265,000 92 isuzu pick up
    238,000 90 f150
    240,000 94 f150
    286,000 98 Chevy 2500
    202,000 11 f250
These are all my previous trucks with over 200 thousand miles. All of them had regular maintenance and typical high mileage repairs(alternators, brake pads/parts, ect. One had a new tranny, one had a few fuel pumps and all ran like champs when released from my ownership. My brother-in-law buys/sells at auctions. On a regular basis he sees trucks/full size SUVs with 300,00 or more miles on them. At least once a month he sees a few with over 500k and these are all gas trucks. I dont count the diesels because we know they last a long time. Trucks will always last longer than cars on a regular basis.

If the Bob Moore dealer is the same guy that had a Subaru dealer down in Arlington, Tx about 6 years ago or so then thats the problem. The gremlins are their techs. I had my WRX worked on there so many times till I got fed up and drove almost an hour away to get it worked on. The guy that worked on my car messed up more things than I had wrong with it. The service writer got so annoyed with me coming back. The last time I went in there I told the guy that when I turn I got a new noise. He got annoyed and said there was nothing wrong without checking it. So I told him, ok if something breaks on the high way its YOUR fault. So he laughs and says nothings going to break on the highway. The front sway bar mounting bracket on the drivers side literally broke while I was driving not long after. The idiot tech must of cross threaded it then zipped the nut on with an impact wrench. I was going to return to Bob moore and find the service writer and throw the broken pieces in his face, literally was going to throw it at him when I saw him, but they had already closed down. Just another example of what kind of gremlin this tech was, he did an alignment and some how mad the rear wheel alignment so bad it roasted both tires in back. When I brought it in, this same service writer I'm talking about was like "oh well we'll put it on the alignment and see if it really is that. Subarus come with a pretty aggressive camber" So I walk behind my car about 10 or 15 feet away then motion for the guy to come over. Then just point to how visually bad the alignment is. So he goes "oh yeah thats not good......."

I did something very similar to my mom's mini van. Had to replace the water pump and a stud broke so I went to the hardware store and got an aluminum mount for electrical that looks some what like a clamp and never have looked back almost 100,000 miles later still on. That cost me just over a $1.

Lmao that reminded me of when I use to work at a refinery in Galveston TX, I drove my straight pipes 83 Mercedes Benz 300D to a Mercedes dealership after work..I went to look at a G Wagon and was wanting to buy it in cash..Saleman came out looked me and my car up and down and said..That Wagon Is a beauty isn’t it? And walked away lol..I said I want to buy it, he turned around and laughed and said, you couldn’t afford the payments. I laughed, walked to my car and pulled out my Wells Fargo pouch, got 200k right here and that thing is only 120k, but cool flex I’ll take my money to Cadillac then and walked away..Saleman tried to get me to talk I said nahhh have fun lmao
