That is an Australian made Holden Caprice sedan, of which a few thousand made it across to the USA and Canada, not to mention New Zealand, South Africa and the Middle East. Holden (GMH) ceased local production a few years ago, so don't count on any warranty or spare parts support, especially as this is a 2013 build. But surely, Chevy locally has got some spares stock. Still. a beast of a car, even without the police goodies!

The development of the Australian US Police car goes back to WH. I was with HSV when we built one as a sample. I guess you could say. We were also building LH drive Granges for Dubai, so one of those was perfectly suited.

As a former deputy fire chief and police officer I can say that the fleet manager screwed the pooch on that sale. Live ammunition is never to be left behind in any sale. Period. And honestly I'm kinda surprised to see a vehicle fully equipped sold to the general public. I have bought and purchased many retired police vehicles and the only way I got them equipped was to verify my employment as a fire chief and officer. Or show proof of dealer license etc.

    • @Natedogg8922

same. Whenever we sell our old squads EVERYTHING gets removed. It is either repurposed on another vehicle (lightbar, controllers, laptop mounts, etc) or saved for another day. None of that stuff gets sold with the car. Anything to identify it as a police vehicle is removed as well (any wording of our city and the word "police". Any badge emblems come off as well). The only thing that stays is the spotlight since its technically built in to the vehicle.

When you are connecting a battery always connect POSITIVE FIRST. This is to prevent any accidental short circuits by tools. Same thing when boosting a dead battery Positive first, then ground last on the boosting battery.

Built in Adelaide, South Australia at the Elizabeth plant in the Northern suburbs. This model is based on the Holden Caprice once sold in Australia however, as US police cars, they were the basic poverty pack models. Last Caprices rolled of the production line in 2017 and were fitted with the 6.2 liter V8 from late 2015 on wards.

Before it was a caprice it was an Australian Holden Commodore VE. You might not be able to buy the civi model there, but here you can....and a whole bunch of versions. Sedans, wagons.....and the utes. V8 or V6, and parts are abundant. Might actually pay to try n find a wrecker here that will post stuff. Get a full list of what you need and they might just send the lot and you could potentially save a few bucks.

I own a 2014 Statesman CapriceV. Here in Australia, you can get parts everywhere for this car. It's not hard to find. Your model locally is known as A Holden Statesman WM model in Australia. If you need help trying to source parts, just let me know and I would be happy to look locally for you and put you in contact with the right people. Holden spare parts are also available through Holden, depending on what it is. Just a tip also, mine was running engine light and we couldn't work it out. Then realized the fuel was the issue. Since running mine on 98 octanes, no engine light and it's now been 2 years.
I remember when Holden got the contract to import the stateman to the USA for the police department. It was all over the news before they shut holden down on Oct 2017 and no more locally made vehicles. Everything rebranded to Chevy or GMH.
Australian Police here decided on the Chrysler SRT, BMW 530d, Kia Stinger and the BMW X5.

This model is the Aussie developed Zeta platform that underpinned the 5th gen Camaros, so a more accurate comparison would be a 4 door Camaro.
It’s weird for us Aussies to see the (luxury model in AU) Caprice body, but with basic trim and dash fitted. I spun out when I saw an export Caprice LS too. Base model (omega) interior, and basic plastic exterior parts, but all in the long wheelbase body. It was as though they made a long wheelbase omega. The PPV is similar (omega spec) with its components.
I was lucky enough to walk the line at Holden in 2011 and see these in production. I really wanted a broadcast sheet, but they wouldn’t let me take one :( Some of the unique PPV parts were fitted on the line, and many of the unnecessary parts were left off (like a lot of trim). A lot more work was completed by the agencies in the states to turn them into patrol vehicles. The foot operated park brake is unique, and clearly had to be fitted to make room for all the Police equipment. The regular VE/WM had a console mounted handbrake that had the lever on the relevant side to the steering wheel. VF/WN went electric with a switch. That would have made their life easier when converting the PPV.
The spider eggs are probably from the Aussie redbacks that hitched a ride over on the boat 😂
(I know, they fumigate them, it’s a joke!)

@@coover65 That’s right, they do. And Opels compete against the low spec Mercs too. When I was buying my FG (yes, despite my username) an Indian guy at work told me I should be buying an older used Merc for the same money. His comment “Falcon is a taxi” riled up my German colleague, who responded perfectly with “in my country, Mercedes is taxi too.” That Indian guy eventually gave up on his older Mercs when he got sick of paying the repair bills (he can’t DIY to save his life). Funny thing is that he now drives an older hybrid Camry. I gleefully point out to him how many hybrid Camrys are used as taxis these days…. 😂😂😂

Very nice, my local department used to do Chevy Caprice and 2015-2020 Tahoe's back then, now they use Ford Explorers and 2021-2023 Tahoe's and sometimes chargers too. Sometimes I wish I could just buy a cop car and play around with like maybe not use it on public roads but use it in my driveway. Just play around with the lights and acting like a cop. Which is why I bought myself a 12volt plug in police lights. Wish I could buy the exact same lighting box tho

I used a 85 9C1 Caprice to race on dirt in the pure stock class and won 73 feature races with it over a 6 year period. I didn't keep track of the heat race wins but they had to at least 150. The car is actually made by GMs, Holden in Australia. Holden closed its doors a few years ago.
Long story short, it's hard to get parts for the Caprice and if you do, they're more expensive than American car parts..
Good luck...if it was me, I'd recondition the car, strip it, paint, make it look, "street appearance" then sell it....

Cops tend to not like light bars with red/blue lights. Suggest you cover them up.
