After my first trip over, I learned two important lessons.
1.Get the cheapest hotel room you can get. You're only going to sleep there, so you just need a bed and a shower. If you don't like that room, go to a different hotel. Don't book anything over 2 days. You're gonna be out doing other things. So it's just a place to store your suitcase. And.
2-- Bring a package of wet wipes, a zip lock baggie, and a couple rolls of toilet paper. Keep a few wipes in the bag, and a wad of tp, in your back pocket, anytime you go out. There ain't no tp in the Philippines other than your room.
Don't find out like I did, at the mall, and have to wipe with a old bingo card off the floor. Boy scout, be prepared.

My experience is similar to Norms. My wife didn’t want to live in the rural areas where I’m from stating “it’s boring and lonely no one is outside making chika chika!” We live in the burbs now too. Our plan is to retire early to the PH just bc we both believe the culture as a whole is much better there than here in the West. And when the kids graduate if they want to come work and see for themselves why we left or build their own financial position then they can do so.

Mike, the subject was brought up about there are more foreigners in Duma than anywhere in the Philippines. I believe Angeles City takes that title. Angeles City has tons of jerks. Sorry to said it. Keep Duma friendly. In September I will stop by Duma on my island hopping trip. I want to see how is Duma. I been all over the Philippines since 1977. Today interview was better than Mark T. Very friendly gentleman. In the Marines, I spend two wonderful years in North Carolina. Keep up the great work.

This video creates a new angle and might cater to the younger foreigner looking overseas for love. Would it be difficult for him to find the right woman with an open attitude to acknowledge and accept that he needed her to live in his country until he was ready to retire? What a great opportunity for her to learn about his culture, possibly further her education or work in an environment that kept her happy, get her green card, then American citizenship, meet other American filipinas, contribute to the family and work towards their retirement together in the Philippines.

I wonder how many guys warning about taking your filipina to your home country have actually done it and got burned?
If you get the right partner things can work out.
Listening to Norm's story and comparing it to the list of "red flags" it seems on the surface he did a few things wrong. On line dating, visited within a few weeks, formed a relationship took her to the US.
    Yet it worked out fine.

Steve just posted an interesting video on expat incomes; since he helps so many retire here he sees it. Said you would be surprised at how many millionaires there are who dress down and are frugal so you would not have a clue how much they really had. People retire here for the low stress, great people and climate - not always the lower costs. So the idea of “broke expats” is mostly a myth. They may look broke but that may conceal what they really have. Its the guys that try to look rich that are broke or in debt.

For me today i don't want to live in Philippines she know that, that why she came to america i would have to give up things i enjoy.
