I brought my wife's 2 kids over from the Philippines when I did the K1 fiancé visa. Girl 13, Boy 17. They had a very hard time adjusting to the USA(too much new independence). They got into trouble lots of times. I would recommend some type of counseling for ALL 3 of them after they arrive in the states. If your wife stays in the states, she will want to work, that's when the trouble begins(watch out for isolation, money, kids not being watched, her new friends and other filipinos who have bad intentions). Money ruins them and the chasing of it. They feel so powerful sending money back to the Philippines to their family. Be careful, for each Filipina is different but the USA will turn them into something you didn't intend.
Yeah, that is what I thought too. My wife is the oldest and was 43 when I brought her over. It turned out to be a hellish nightmare for me. If I could do it over, NEVER again. Oh, we're still married, 14 years, retired in the Philippines, but the pain and hurt they caused me, took a toll on me. But everyone is different, just be careful, look for the signs of the first problems, they get worse, not better.
I agree I helped my philipina more than I should have waiting for our K 1. She now would like to be paid for helping around the house along with me supporting her with food clothes her credit card and a constant $100 in her wallet. (Materialistic) She also has mood swings and dose not apologize for the way she acts. We still have more good times than bad it's just you never know when a episode will happen. I'm sorry I didn't just move there. I met the family when I was there and was treated well we are both in our 60's andI will retire in September. Thinking of moving there for a year and if things don't change coming back my self.
Well said. He said he already had a heart attack. I really, really hope she doesn't cause him to have a 2nd, after he takes her & the 2 kids to the US. SMH.
Reading some of these comments I must have won the lottery. We've been together 21 years, married 18 and have lived in the states the entire time. We have a son together who is 17 and off to college next year. We have a 5 yr age gap, She has been working as a RN the entire time. It has not always been sunshine and roses but I wouldn't change a thing. If anything she deserves a gold medal for putting up with my sorry azz all these years.
Since he is already married, he can get her a 10-year visit visa. She can wait in the US on the visit visa until her spousal visa is approved. The visit visa takes less than a month for approval.
As long as their mother naturalized and the kids enter the US prior to their 18th birthday they will automatically be eligible for US citizenship with an effective date for whichever of the two conditions (mother's naturalized/enter US b4 18) happens last. Also it doesn't take 5 years to become US citizen she can apply after 3 years.
Mike and Janet, from this video and comments, it appears that there is a lot of confusion over the topic of the “who, what, why, when, and where” of receiving various Social Security benefits. Like the helpful health-insurance discussion-I did not know that Medicare does not work in the PI, thanks for the information!-perhaps you can find a qualified person to give a presentation on the topic. Based on what has been said and what has been written in the comments, a number of people could use such help to cut through the thicket of information and misinformation and avoid mistakes. Good job on the videos.
My #1 rule is if a woman says she wants to go to the USA, or starts bleeding my funds, its time to move on. I want a woman that is happy here so I can enjoy life here. Ilive in Houston Texas. Friday/Saturday nights karaoke bars loaded with single Filipinas that got married here, had a kid or two, moved to the states, got divorced and child support then hang with their party girl buddies every weekend. Don't be foolish.
It might be helpful to see how things are after his wife and family has been there a while. I’m sure some other American men might like to see how long it takes and how a Filipina would adapt. Janet misses the lil monkeys!
Mike I would like to talk to David if he would like I am from Madison Alabama, I have a wife on Samar also with an apartment till we buy a lot and we are going through the I130 process I would really like to talk to him thanks Steve Davis
I believe David is mistaken about how long it will take for his wife to become a citizen. I did the paperwork for my thai wife's USA visa, temp green card, and permanent green card. A person who is not married has to hold a green card for 5 years before applying for citizenship. A married green card holder can apply after 3 years. My wife is studying for the citizenship test now, you get 100 citizenship questions to study ( the study guide is written in thai and english) the person administering her will ask her only 10 questions which she will hopefully understand in English. She only needs to get 6 right!
@@mikesphilippineretirement So if Daves lady became a citizen after 3 years, had USA passport, wouldnt that give her social security survivors? shes no longer an alien wife...... that was my understanding.
@mikesphilippineretirement it's 10 years for ANYONE to draw their own SS pension. My research indicates they want the green card bearing wife on US soil for 5 years for SS survivors. My wife will be a citizen at any moment so that won't matter. I hope I'm right you all will have an easier time helping your ladies😉
Hey Mike, is there any way that my husband Brett could meet you in the Dumagute. He is thinking to buy a land to build a house for retirement. How to get a hold of you?
So much negativity here, everyone’s experience is going to be different so let’s just wait and see what happens after everything and everyone is in the states…
@@mikesphilippineretirement A person just shouldn’t marry before meeting. What is the rush? Marriage is for the rest of your life or it should be approached that way.
15 months to get into the USA? Really? I can't support a house financially (then leave it abandoned) in the USA for 15 months while also living in the Philippines for over a year. The US Army moved me every 3 years for the last 3 decades, this house is my first permanent home, like ever, in my whole life, not selling my house!!!!!!!!!! NO! NO! HELL NO! Illegal aliens can cross the USA border and get a free ticket the NYC, Chicago or L.A. but if you want to do this legally it takes 15 God damn months?
@@mikesphilippineretirement sure everyone thinks mine will work out. You underestimate the power of American FemiNazi to change a good women. There is a reason you went to Phl to get a wife. Don’t forget that.

I would wish him and his wife well. It will be a big change for her. She going to miss her family and friends. As well as the kids.

Maybe someone from AARP would join in on via Zoom. AARP certainly has the knowledge base, and they do public outreach as well. Good luck!
