These guys could write more hit songs in a day then most writers will create in a lifetime. Barry and Robins vocal range streach from here to mars.

The accompanying music video for the song is of an entirely different concept from Saturday Night Fever. Filmed on MGM Studios' backlot #2 in Culver City, California, while the group was simultaneously filming the movie Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on the lot, the video featured Quality Street (a set that was used for such films as The Three Musketeers and Young Frankenstein) as well as the Grand Central Station set used in the films The Band Wagon and the opening of That's Entertainment! with Fred Astaire.
As the group walks past one of the railway cars in the video, the words "New York Central" can be seen printed on the side of the train above a passenger window. The MGM art directors added this bit of authenticity because the actual New York Central Railroad operated several lines from Grand Central Terminal in New York City during the 20th century until 1969.

Based on the times, back in the '70's in New York City ( riots, power outages, gas shortages, no work, Son of Sam murders), it was a crazy time. Filmed on an old studio that was used for the TV series Combat. The train was used in the movie Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.

They also had a younger brother who performed on his own & sounded a lot like the Bee Gees.

The one in the middle is Sir Barry Gibb, the last man standing in the Gibb's family, you can't judge this great band by one song, they had started very young in the late 50s, and I can tell you thier songs never fail to amaze me till now..
Side note: the bee gees wrote all of thier songs, and wrote songs for other singers which became hits, island in the stream is an example for that..

Some stats; Brothers Barry, Maurice & Robin Gibb began in 1955 as The Rattlesnakes, (Barry age 9 & the twins almost 6). 1958, were renamed BGs (later Bee Gee's). In the US alone, starting in 1967, they had 30 top 40 hits (23 top 10, 9 #1 & 6 were consecutive #1s). Worldwide, over 120 million records sold. 22 studio albums. 83 singles. 2 live albums. 15 compilations. 4 Soundtracks, including Saturday Night Fever, the 2nd largest selling soundtrack of all time (in Library of Congress, as Culturally Significant). 3 Grammys, plus Grammy Legend & Lifetime Achievement Awards. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Songwriters Hall of Fame (1031 songs by Barry, Robin & Maurice, together, alone or with others). Wrote hits for Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Barbra Steisand, Frankie Valli, Samantha Sang, Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers & more (many also produced by Barry). Barry is the only songwriter in history to have written 4 consecutive #1 songs on US charts. Starting with Bee Gee's Stayin Alive, hit #1 Feb. 4 & held for 4 weeks. March 4, was bumped by brother Andy Gibb’s (Love is) Thicker Than Water, #1 for 2 weeks. That was displaced by Bee Gee's Night Fever, #1 for 8 weeks, followed by Yvonne Elliman's If I Can't Have You, #1 week of May 13. Since Barry co-wrote all 4, from Feb. 4, 1978, till mid-May 1978, with no gap, a song (co) written by Barry held the #1 position. Not many will ever come close to their career.

There are so many great Bee Gees songs to choose from. But I'd suggest Nights on Broadway (Midnight Special live version 1975), To Love Somebody (1967 version), Lonely Days, Fanny Be Tender With My Love, and Mr. Natural. But you can't go wrong with just about anything by the Bee Gees.

This is one of the biggest songs off the 2nd biggest selling album in history. This was the first song in the opening of Saturday Night Fever. Watch the movie and you’ll understand it.
By the way this is the 70’s disco era. Barry Gibb the lead singer is the only one left alive of the brothers. They made some of the greatest music of all time.

The Bee Gees were around many years until they made it big in the era of Disco. They had some success in the late 60s. However, their songs were highlighted in the movie, Saturday Night Fever. They never looked back.

Top songwriters and producers of their own songs in every genre, and also for many others... said to all have perfect pitch. Many of their vocals were recorded in one take, and they were unparalleled for their ability to perform live. Musical geniuses! For perspective, react to BEE GEES 1960 at ages 13 and 10, recorded for TV in Australia about a year before Barry was signed to a 5 year publishing contract at age 15. Robin is famous for his very unique vibrato. Please react to his best loved classic I STARTED A JOKE Live 1989.

History Check: The subject matter of 'Stayin' Alive' is about survival in the streets of New York inspired by the Nic Cohn paperback Tribal Rites of the Saturday Night who was the plot for the classic Saturday Night Fever Movie. Since 1977 it is now one of the biggest single of all time with 31million record sales worldwide 👍
It is claimed from in a survey of all radiostations around the globe as most airplayed song of all time in 2017- every 20 seconds - this plays everywhere around the world and for sure it is the most iconic song of the 70´s decade. 🍾
It’s a part of our shared cultural heritage now - one of those pop miracles that just never gets old, never wears off, never loses its charge. It remains alive. And indeed one of the most covered pop songs in history
This epic video was filmed on MGM Studios in Culver City in Hollywood California in the filmset ruins of That’s Entertainment starring Fred Astaire from 1974 during the same time when the BeeGees filming the Beatles movie, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 1978 on the lot at the same time.

Heard you say, just like MJ on the background. Gotta know, they and especially Barry (the man in the middle), were kinda Idols for him. Got a strength connection, so later on MJ became godfather of Barry's son Michael. He described that his 'Thriller'-album wouldn't exist the way it was, without the influance that had the music of the Bee Gees on him. There's a collaboration of Barry and MJ, to find on YT. The song is called 'All In Your Name', I'll tellya, that one's gonna getya down on your knees.

GOOD REACTION. This is my era and generation. Welcome to the world of "DISCO," Here are some facts about the Bee Gee's:
1.Barry Gibbs is 2 years older than I am. I grew up in this Era called DISCO.
2.Barry was the lead singer and his brother's were mostly backup, but all 3 were GREAT.
3.This was Family Harmony at its best. 3 Brothers.
(Three voices that sounds like one).
4.They were a normal band until they tried something different.
5.It was an accident, they decided to sing "FALSETTO" for fun.
6.The people loved it, and DEMANDED more.
7 This became their unique, signature sound, and trademark that shot them to the top.
    8. Barry was the lead singer, Robin and Maurice HARMONIZED ALSO IN FALSETTO.
9.Their unique sound that made them famous.
10 If you listen close you can hear the Falsetto of all 3.
    11. It became their standard. The Disco Era was dying at this point.
    12. The Bee Gee's Music, breathed new life into the Disco Era.
13, That kept DISCO alive and popular for many more years.
    14. The Bee Gee's wrote 1030 songs in their life.
15.They wrote many songs, for other famous artist, who made those songs famous.
16.They broke many long standing records, in their lifetime.
    17. They wrote all of their own music.
    18. And all 3 played instruments themselves.
    19. They would be honored that a new generation is hearing their music.
    20. Feel free to check out my facts for yourself.

Nothing wrong with being surprised about cultural differences in sound. I'm an old white guy that grew up in a racist time when Elvis was too black and Hendrix was too white, it's refreshing to acknowledge 'Blue-eyed soul' and enjoying it for what it is.
