This is the best over sited review of foam stars and yes we all agree that is not a splatoon replacement and it is a seven at best, it is enjoyable title for those who are interested in it.
I think either square enix or its predecessors worked a ton with Nintendo. And now they made a game heavily “inspired” by a Nintendo game. Motion controls included. I do like motion controls though.
I played Foamstars for 1 session. I kind of liked it and thought I'd get more depth from it on following play sessions, but I just couldn't find the motivation to turn it back on. I knew I wasn't going to keep up with the game for its updates and/or battle passes and I didn't have enough fun controlling the characters to really want to try them again. That's kind of on me, cause I only tried the first PVP mode and map. But, I don't think I'd have that much different of an experience if I went back to it. One thing I feel I got wrong, based off my session, was that I felt the foam was too difficult to properly cover terrain and use it to my advantage. But based off your footage, it seems like you can really cover maps and move around. But yeah, the reloading is kind of a buzzkill. I was open to a different way to play a game like this, but I definitely don't enjoy that decision personally. I did enjoy the kill confirm/revive mechanic, though. I'm glad you covered this game, cause of your experience with FPS/Third Person Shooter games! I've only gotten into Splatoon, Overwatch, and Call of Duty, in the genres. Cool to hear you gave it a fair shot and were able to show off and clarify some stuff I didn't really get into with the game.
I'm not playing a game with AI generated art. Square Enix is a 5.27 billion dollar company they can afford to pay human beings to make art. Why should I bother to play something a person couldn't be bothered to make?
4:48 correnction for people that haven't seen that video: The actual video is 13 minutes long, the rest its just redesigning some maps. Plus in some videos prochara has said how since drizzle season the maps problems have become a lot less relevant, now with a upcoming fun stage too.
Also no hate to the creator of this video, I still like your videos but I really wanted to point that out for people that haven't played both games or watched prochara's video
@@fragzz yes, but it's probably the smallest chunk of bad maps in comparison with the past games. And the chunk will continue to get smaller thanks to the upcoming map redesigns for the rest of the year 🙂
Also when jet justice is in the bubble he and his team can shoot more foam then he usually do and can charge up teams ultimate. Figure to share that info.
Rave breaker is quite different from baristador. Rave breaker manipulates the field to his liking. Adding or removing foam as he likes. Baristador is a complete ranged character. The tactical strike is the most powerful thing in the game, counterbalanced by the summon time. As far as foam, baristador has the flamethrower and can make good walls with his skill but otherwise ravebreaker wins in that field.
14:02 i did the math; a switch lite, a hard copy on splatoon 3 and a year of nintendo online is only $440 USD. a PS4, a digital copy of foamstars and a year of PS4 online is $510 USD. editied cuase some people didnt watch the full video 🫤
Gameplay wise, I'd play Foamstars. Everything else, I'd go for Splatoon 3. Foamstars is not technically free. It's free for anyone with PS+ until March 5th. After that, you'd have to pay $30 to get it. Unlike Fortnite and Apex Legends, you still need PS+ to play Foamstars online. I love customizing my character, so Splatoon 3 is for me. Foamstars is very lacking in customizing and a single outfit for one character is $11 each. Emotes are between $3.50 to $5.50 each. I would say Foamstars is a much more simplier game than Splatoon 3. It's like Overwatch where the characters have a set weapon and abilities. It doesn't take too long to get good at the game. Splatoon 3 has a lot more weapons and skills to choose from, so it takes a bit of time for any individual to find the right setup and feel comfortable. The game just came out, however I have trust issues with Square Enix keeping the game alive and can possibly shut the game down if it doesn't do well in profits. I wouldn't invest too much in this game unless you really like it or you trust Square Enix enough to spend a little.
Thanks for making this video! I did consider getting a used original or slim PS4 and PS Plus Essential just to play Foamstars, but later decided not to after I remembered one of the reasons why I went with a Switch OLED Model instead, that being the portability. I'm often on the move and have a lot of Switch games I can play offline, including Splatoon single-player content. (Edit: when I do get some gaming time, I often just end up playing Splatoon 2 and/or 3, likely because I enjoy online multiplayer games, not to mention the addictive gameplay, inky messes, and plaza posts) I do still need to connect to the inernet to play games if I hadn't played them before, but I think that's just becsuse my player profile is linked to a Nintendo account with an active NSO subscription and the connection is likely just to activate NSO cloud save data sync, affer which I can then play offline.
I love that you took the time to give an honest review on the game!!! As someone who’s loved splatoon since the month splatoon one released.. i LOVE foamstars and it’s characters! I hope it’s a similar situation to how genshin started as suspiciously similar to BOTW then gradually became its own super cool thing! I’m so excited to see where foamstars is a year from now!! :D

Ok I maybe over exaggerating but is my new favourite dlc. Is a very fun dlc played for around 40 hours of it, if game awards have a dlc nomination this has to be in

i know its not truly paywalled but the thing is when the next in-game season rolls around theres no telling if itll become unobtainable or some stupid way to unlock it
