I suggest taking it easy and not leting it get to you (more easy said than done) as still most of the people love the game and the developers, even the people who agree the game could be handled better. I am a mod dev. And like yeah, technically we can push out a lot of features, maybe more than Mojang itself. But we don't have to worry about the game itself, the servers, the technicalities. And we got bugs, many bugs.
So, mods are mods, and while awesome, their success does not mean Mojangs failure. Sure they have made mistakes, but who doesn't? They are trying to fix it and I believe they are doing so really Well!
And for the question of mod loaders: who cares, really? Yeah sure, sometimes I see a cool fabric mod that I as a forge user can't use, but oh well. All four are good, what's the issue.

I saw people first complain that the update got split in two and then later they complained that the caves and cliffs update was "just" a terrain update.
Im no game dev expert but I am at least a touch familiar with coding and I almost lost my mind. Revamping a whole terrain Gen system, adding new underground biomes, which they hadn't done before, dramatically increasing the world height and extending it to below level zero which was probably hardcoded into the game since it's inception, is phenomenal on its own. Not to mention a new structure which is literally a city, WIRELESS REDSTONE, copper, which helped clutter in the modding community, and probably a ton of other stuff I'm forgetting. Mojang did so much in those two updates and proceeded to then add whole new boss level mob with unique mechanics later as well. All people can do is complain, it seems. I'm tired of it. Compared to so many other companies, Mojang is phenomenal. Also the fact that they understood when they needed to split the update, informed the community in a respectful way, and actually took care of their workers. As far as I'm concerned, Mojang is up there as one of the best game developers. They are absolutely not lazy and it's digusting to see their "community" try to tear into them like they have been.

My theory is that the explosion of popularity in 2019 caused it. Before pewdiepies series, it was not cool to play minecraft. Like if people found out you would be made fun of. So the community was mostly made up of people who liked the core gameplay of building cool shit. There were always pvp servers, but it wasn't nearly as popular as it is now. Once minecraft got super popular again though, newer players who are used to more combat focused games latched onto those servers. You can also see this in the kinds of youtube videos that were popular. Before 2019 it was mostly just mod reviews and a couple smps. But then with the new players, it switched to manhunts and speedrunning, which appealed to the newer, more competitive players. In 2020, they released the nether update, which added a new dungeon and a super powerful tier above diamond, which gave them the impression it was a progression and combat based game like terraria. However, because minecraft is not really a combat focused game, these people get upset when updates do not cater towards them. Sure cherry wood looks nice, but it doesn't make more powerful weapons or improve my personal record, so that means its useless, right? Sure a camel adds some nice atmosphere and is a useful early game mount, but why would I use that when I can speedrun the game in half an hour and get an elytra? Basically, people can't appreciate the game for what it is, so they criticize it for what it isn't
TLDR people want minecraft to be terraria when its more like digital legos

Apparently I’m a 343 shill because I prefer Infinite to Halo 3 even though I could write an essay on all the issues I have with Halo Infinite; any of my praises for the game are apparently too circumstantial but all my criticisms are also not enough because 343 bad Bungie good. I’ll praise 343 when they do something good (Firefight is honestly really fun still and Forge is the most powerful map maker it’s ever been) and I’ll criticize 343 when they do something bad (POV: Halo Infinite shop prices). Infinite is not the peak of gaming, but neither is Halo 3, and it’s crazy how invested everybody gets into their franchises instead of stopping, looking around, and realizing we’re all attacking each other over something we should be coming together over the love instead of bicker if the old stuff or the modern stuff is better.

    >Paper is not designed for technical players
One of the issues with Paper that Cubicmetre brought up: it's Bukkit fork that keeps dangling a lot of outdated stuff. Also he shown a case when Paper happen to perform much worse than Fabric server AKA just vanilla MC with a little bit of extra™
    >Fabric at the moment does not have the tools for *list of things*
I guess you didn't even bother to look up for server side mods then. Recommend to check out Patbox's mods btw, he did a lot of cool stuff in this regard and even beyond
    >Forge can be performant
For owners of weak machines it's often the case that they literally can't launch Forge modpack consistent of similar mods as Fabric counterpart. I've heard of plenty of such cases. And even when mid tier PC is on the table, when we're speaking in hundreds of mods, each FPS, each TPS is a huge victory. People don't use ton of optimization mods to play Bedwars in 5000 FPS, they do so to play modded in stable 60 FPS rather than witnessing their stable 60 FPS dropping to 10

Instead of saying mojang is "lazy" they should be developing more tools to make updating minecraft easier. They also need to work on increasing performance for minecraft by maybe trying to implement features from mods into minecraft, like immediately fast, memory leak fix, ferritecore, and entity culling. It does not need to be done all at once, just get added eventually. Infact, this approach has already been done with the starlight mod.

I too have been very frustrated with some of the toxicity coming out of the Minecraft community as of late, but I will say that I don't think the whole space is rotten to the core, and it *is* possible to step away from the toxicity and find communities and groups that aren't that bad. I do think a lot of the toxicity has been a vocal minority that has ruined it for a lot of people, but I think the best possible solution is to simply be the change you want to see. I personally have started trying to go back to the simpler way of playing Minecraft, not caring about all the opinions that are constantly being thrown around, and I have sometimes been surprised to find myself simply enjoying things that I would have normally thought I wouldn't like. Even though I personally may not like everything that mojang has done in more recent years (frankly, I never liked everything that was changed, so nothing new there) the game I once loved is still there to be played and enjoyed. Don't let them take that away from you :)

At least, you, yes, you are the source where I get my minecraft news and you are a great source where I inform myself too, one of few
I just think we do need your voice and of course, it is your choosing if it will still be out there, but I just want you to know all of this does matter, even if just for my case only!

It's helpful to remember that the 1 percent of reddit nerds online, that complain about the mob vote or whine that the updates are "boring," are only a small minority of the overall Minecraft player base. Most players will see the new armadillo and go "Wow new mob? Neat!" or "My wolf can have armor now? Wow!" Instead of going into a 3 hour geek rant about the literary complexities of Minecraft and how it "lost" its original illustrious charm.

I'm agreeing with almost everything in the video but the one thing I hate the most is that Minecraft seems to not care about the redstone community at all. They refuse to add quasi-connectivity to autocrafters (which wouldn't just open a whole new world of opportunities, it would also be more consistent since droppers and dispensers react to qc already) and didn't wanted copper bulbs to have a one game tick delay just because these kind of things don't exist in bedrock. But as a redstoner who made redstone in both versions, redstone in java is waaaayy better than redstone in bedrock, it's more reliable (due to update order) and there are a lot more things possible in java than in bedrock (also because of qc). So there should rather make bedrock redstone more similar to java than the other way around (the only thing I miss in java are movable block entities). The things Minecraft didn't want to do because of bedrock where also things everybody in the redstone community heavily wishes to be done and I see no reason to not listen to the redstone community when it comes to redstone features since they know best what's best for Minecraft redstone. I just think there's no one in the Minecraft team that has knowledge about redstone and they don't think it's a big deal for the redstone community to implement the new redstone components differently (not how the redstone community wishes). I also have the feeling Minecraft hates that qc exists in java but they can't just remove it since this would break too much.
Minecraft just disappointed me as a redstoner too often lately the reason why I lost all the hype for the new update and even quitted Minecraft. I don't get why Minecraft doesn't listen to the redstone community at all.

What do you mean by "They refuse to add quasi-connectivity to autocrafters"? Autocrafters have not been added, and it seems like you are already making assumptions. How do you know that Mojang refuses to add quasi-connectivity to autocrafters? I don't think minecraft hates quasi-connectivity as it was added in april fools 2023 snapshot/update, probably to test the feature. Mojang is probably planning on combining the java redstone system and bedrock redston system together. The only time I can think of Mojang messing with the redstone community is with the copper bulb change, and I can understand being disappointed in Minecraft for that, but not to the extent you are feeling. I am not a redstoner, but I feel that Minecraft adding autocrafters in 1.21 which is more focused on combat is enough. I do think Mojang focuses on other aspects of the game more such as building and combat, so hopefully one day minecraft receives a redstone update to satisfy the redstone community.

    • @PhonyLyzard
      @PhonyLyzard 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I think the main issue is that Mojang knows Redstone is quite complex already and wants to try and make new features easy to understand. Still holding out hope that they're trying to make the old copper bulb work on bedrock and that's why they haven't added it yet. I still think the crafter is pretty good though.

    • @PhonyLyzard

      @quazimanipulation4121 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

quazi connectivity was a bug that was never suppost to be added into the game, it makes redstone incredably unintuitive and difficult to understand for the average player, mojang has made it clear that they do not want it to be a part of the game (with them not adding it to the bedrock edition which is already notoriously buggy)

This video pretty much sums it up.
The only thing I campaign for is to make everything on a single loader, kinda like the old days when we only had Risugami's.
For this I suggest Fabric because it's very lightweight and minimal, fast to update and is already home for a ton of solutions, but nothing prevents a new loader to be made exactly for this purpose.
I look at Paper and I realize that it can very well live in modules inside something like Fabric, its API be split from most of the optimizations.
The whole community needs to wake up.
People don't realize that there will always be drama and splitting into projects solves nothing, that the more we split the more we hurt ourselves.
The same goes for Linux, the recent Hyprland fiasco is disgusting from every point of view as an example.
    We need to stay strong.
Lunar and everyone that helps keep this amazing channel alive, keep doing your job, we need to start somewhere and having an educator like this one is a great milestone.

    • @Camper_Samu
      @Camper_Samu 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@OrangeCat__ I know this goes against what I said, but Cardboard should be avoided like the black plague.
The lead dev is kind of a fraud, with multiple incidents of stolen code (should be somewhere on DramaMC) and multiple lies about the status of the project. (the code used to have hardcoded checks to report some plugins as working even tho they weren't)
Politics aside, both Cardboard and Banner (from a Mohist developer) tackle the project in the worst way possible, using the @Overwrites function in a lot of places to do the job quick and dirty, breaking comparability in the process. (Banner is slowly improving on this aspect but it's far from usable and stable)
The only time we had something like this working well was with FukkitMC, but the project died due to a lack of time from the devs.
If you want a more complete statement on the status of Cardboard and Banner, you should check out Patbox's Gist on the matter.

Only after watching your videos, I get confronted with this and I was very upset about it, because you are one of the view that cover modding on a technical and developer interview level. You are part of this and you actively contribute.
I am looking forward to your change in direction, specifically ignoring the negative aspects. Celebrate the communities and the devs, instead of calling people out. Share joy, not distaste. But PLEASE stick to modding! You are one of the view creators who cover it from the perspective of developers and technicalities.

I think the only way for the narrative to start shifting is to start forming groups/quasi-groups of youtubers that sometimes discuss this with each other in videos. The main problem is probably it being mentally taxing, but on the other hand having a thinking, reasonable person to talk to usually improves your mental health.

I enjoy it, it's simple, it doesn't have overcomplicated mechanics that have been added and started a new war on why Minecraft "sucks" nowadays, no arguments about which version is better, yada yada... JUST a simple version of Minecraft you have to get into because it's been such a long time. And it's great!
Now Imagine needing a year to release an update, changing things over and over and over again and having so many meetings over some pixel content for a game. And when you finally did it, your boss is finally happy and your anger towards this whole situation can be turned into a feeling of pride and happiness, some smooth brained-"organisms" as I would call them here rn, go into the internet, talk big as if they could do everything better and call YOU lazy after making all of this. It's not like Microsoft is the reason updates take so long. Look at the poisonous potato update. They could fingersnap new features into the game like Thanos, but Microsoft wouldn't let them. Great video, overall a good summary of what is souring the community rn.
It's definitely unfair to criticize Mojang for being lazy for not "making enough content", as overworking the devs is not really something good for them or the game. Although I do think they can be more adventurous with the changes they decide to implement (a good example is the crab claw, it would've changed minecraft in a very significant manner) while scrapping some of the more boring changes to relocate dev time, I can't really blame Mojang's devs for not working enough, my dissatisfaction has mostly come from the approach they have taken.
As for the modded side, I wholeheartedly agree with your points of the community. Having used most modloaders throughout my years in Minecraft, I can definitely say all of them have their uses. I just wish none of these modloaders or bukkit-derivative software tried to establish themselves as the status quo for every player. Paper can't market itself as being for every server, as it doesn't explicitly state that it has made any compromises to any unknowing player. Fabric on the other hand works well with small amounts of mods, however it can't really compare itself to Forge in heavily modded scenarios. Every loader has something it excells at as opposed to the others, and trying to market one as "the ultimate loader" is just misleading.
Those were my ramblings, I hope they weren't too incoherent lol.

My point of this comment is not to gain anything none other than hopes that this community starts to accept that this game is bound to change, evolve, all overall be a better game, everyone in my views needs to accept the roots of the game and if notch was still the owner of the ip, minecraft would be a hell load different.

I know that I have been guilty of some of the points I have made here, but in terms of spreading this comment I know that we all make mistakes and it is that we learn from them that makes a difference.

I just wanna go on record that I have made every important farm on a paper vanilla server. From an extremely complex mangrove farm with a very finicky ilmango vertical piston block mover, fallenbreath tree farms, multi-sorters that rely on subtick mechanics, to cubic's own blast chamber and first (second? Not the mega tall-one but not the most optimized one either) iteration copper oxidizer. Granted, we were as optimized as we could be with other forks of paper, but that's definitely besides the point - do your research on what's right for you!
The idea that you can't use paper and what has been built off of it is silly. No, it's not for someone trying to break vanilla minecraft, just everyone else :)

Finally someone has mentioned it I thought I was the only one who remember just how much code was being changed in the game during 1.7 - 1.13. The only thing I wish that was also mentiend is that before 1.13 Minecraft was still using the old block ID system and from what I remember they where running out of block IDs. 1.13 remove block ID and comply used the new String name system the game uses today. I still remember an early tweet from some dev saying that they cant add colored beds during the time of that tweet cuz it would add too many block IDs. Modloaders like forge got around the block id issue with some fancy trick in code that I don't understand. And does anyone remember just how smooth the game ran during 1.10-1.12? instead of focusing on features they can focus more on performance.

it doesnt help that the community focusses only on a bunch of new features and don't care about changing the code of existing features nearly as much, and its way easier to advertise the mace rather than 10% more fps

I'll be honest, I admire the mojang of the present, while they have their flaws, the fact that they allow, and encourage creative modding and changing to their game in general is a decision that can keep minecraft alive even when the game is in between long update times. And for the record, I use any modloader I can get my hands on which play the mods I want to use.

The thing is that some mod loaders are better then others. Quilt has a good premise and the best performance, but has almost no mods of it's own. Fabric has a decent amount of mods but it's still limiting. Forge/Neoforge are just the best options for anyone who wants to play large mod packs. Sinytra connector allows fabric mods to be run on forge/neoforge expanding the mods someone can use. Even with the spit in with neoforge there are already plans to make a verson for neoforge, as well as many of the biggest forge mods moving to neoforge.

Fabric does have the Tools for Mini Game Servers...
there is a Server called Nucleoid MC as far as I am aware that is completely Open Source and Collaborative with the Community.

5:29 You have most certainly encountered MC-152728 at least one point in time. It makes you crouch twice on multiplayer servers (which is how multiplayer servers fix it).
