    Welcome to Minecraft, we got people who built a one to one replica of a city, someone who built a actual functioning Minecraft computer with the processing power of the computer memory cap that took people to the moon, and a bunch of people that made a collaborative effort and ended up with a central processing power that would place it at 33rd in the global supercomputer ranking, above America’s strongest supercomputer, just for the sole reason of finding cactus.
    I’m also adding a group of people trying to build a 1:1 replica of the world or something like that

      To be honest before we as a species should focus on interstellar travel we should just get any working space program. The best we have right now is the international space station I think, and a few rovers in various places. We should already be living on Mars and Venus and learning from those how to adjust earth to be habitable forever. Once we get to that point sure let's fire up the star drives or star gates even! It's just a shame that after the Apollo missions space development stalled because honestly if we built just a few things like the space slingshots it would be the beginning to a lot more space developments in essence being the equivalent of Rome paving the first roads.

      Mathematicians wastes time on useless concepts all of the time. When “i” or √-1 was first introduced in 1545, everyone back then thought it was just a nice curiosity without any practical application or even straight up nonsense.
      We know now that it’s one of the building blocks behind how the internet works (FFM) and the basis for quantum physics but back then it was considered practically useless by almost everyone
      Give it a few centuries (or a few decades seeing how fast technology is advancing) and a use will come out of this outside of Minecraft
      Edit: Actually considering the nature of the Information Age today there’s probably already 10 projects that uses the code of this to do other stuff

    i was a part of MC@H. i used to have a few laptops and a couple desktops running F@H full time, got in the top 2500ish (not sure on the specific number) of all folders’ total contributed computer power because i had my rigs on all the time. they werent anything special, just old machines that reached EOL and werent useful compared to modern machines for much more than writing essays. i remember seeing MC@H on a dropdown tab which featured relevent projects. it was only on the boinc client and i i only had a couple machines doing that one because i was splitting them between F@H and WCG (World Community Grid) so i put them on that too see what would happen. never knew what it was for, never knew what came out of it till now. great vid! proud to be a contributor :)

  • @small.clover
    @small.clover 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +33

    There's probably code reasons why it can't get anywhere near this, but very naively, theoretically, since each chunk can generate up to 10 cacti, and each cactus can be up to 3 blocks tall, and up to 4 chunks could bleed into each other, there could be a natural cactus somewhere out there in the Minecraft multiverse that's 120 blocks tall.
    Even though that's probably way off, I am interested in what the current theoretical upper bound for Big Cactus is.

    • @Therevengeforget
      @Therevengeforget 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Theoretically, a Cactus could commit a Nomad and travel from a chunk to a different one due to terrain always cock-blocking it, adding to the cactus being potentially 255 tall

    • @small.clover
      @small.clover 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I don't think so, if that were the case then there'd always be an average of 10 cacti per chunk, but it seems like if the second attempt fails, it gives up.@@Therevengeforget

    • @HellCastleYT
      @HellCastleYT  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      from what i understood from the code, each cactus also tries to generate 10 times before giving up, but it can choose air blocks to try to generate in because the code doesn't know what the terrain looks like until it checks if a block is valid for a cactus. I didn't illustrate that in my video for the sake of simplicity though so I can see the confusion
