Putting scotch tape on a top loader is a rookie move! Takes forever to get off and ruins the top loader. Use a team bag like Geoff does or painters tape if you're going to go that route.
True I just bought 5 cards, all came without tape, and every card came out of the packaging a little and has damage on a corner. I would have rather picked off duct tape or scotch tape than have damaged cards.
Need to use painters tape on top loader. Will not leave residue and buyer can continue to use the top loader. Regular tape can ruin the loader. I also use some card board, old common cards on either side of cards I ship, team bag and grade bag. I also ship graded cards in a cardboard sandwich too. Cards will get bent in shipping and they'll slip out of top loaders too. Graded cases can get cracked too.
The tape over the toploader keeps the card from sliding around and the top edges/corners from getting damaged, You should use painters tape, which leaves no residue, and pinch the top of the toploader slightly when taping. The pinched area will be thinner and keep the card from moving.
Here's a tip don't use scotch tape on the damn sleeve to keep the card from coming out jesus people!!! I don't understand what is so hard bout getting painters tape!! Or a team bag just not the damn tape that leaves sticky crap all over the sleeve and is hard to get off!!!
I agree with 90% of what you say about shipping. The only thing is I thought you were a little too nitpicky on how loose one envelope was in the 2nd envelope. That will cause zero issues to the card. It still has the double protection and not heavy enough nor did it have enough shifting room to fall out the side. I still give you an A on the video. Love the channel. Learned a lot and have been selling cards for about 15 years as a hobby.
It's funny the way cards are sent from different sellers. I've had cheap cards sent to me with great protection. But on the flip side had a very expensive PSA graded card sent to me with virtually nothing protecting it, just in an envelope. Luckily the case didn't get scratched and looked good.
For the shipping portion you need to put a decoy in that team bag or base. Those bubble mailers will bend so you need to prevent that, the double mailer will still bend.
Jeff you are such an amazing person. That person for sports-cards can never be taken away and connects-us all during these hard times for me and the entire US/World. Its been very bad especially near where Tim has his foundation in PH. PH was already struggling with-out Pandemic but things have gotten worst 10x/. The #1 Pick in 2021 NBA Draft Jalen Green has helped gave the Asian People there hope. He is beloved because he is half Filipino and half American(Black). We love him because he is like Kobe. He has done charity events and games over there even before he sign a life changing deal in the NBA/GLeague. Thanks Jeff! CJ
same, double protection for the win!! I have been receiving cards under Ebays new Envelope Shipping service, and I have received only damaged cards. I am for now on giving the buyer the option to chose their shipping service if the card is under 20. I found out the envelopes are processed through a roller for faster processing every time they go through a new processing center.. not good.
Every card, regardless of value should be shipped securely. Remember, value is determined by the buyer, what they are willing to pay. I ship just like you recommended, only tweak would be to add cardboard on both sides of the card. And do not add a bunch of tape to any aspect of the packaging. It creates risk that the contents get damaged when cutting open.
For basic cards, I hate over the top packing techniques. The bubble mailer and small piece of blue tape on the top loader is sufficient. I don't need the card to also be cocooned in cardboard. I feel like I'll do more damage to the card just opening it.
Depends on the value of the card for how it should be shipped. I really don’t mind if I get a lower-end card that’s shipped in a PWE. But a high-end card, yeah use some protection.
I'm glad I am not the only one picking up some Pete Alonso rookie cards. I got 2 x Topps Chrome PSA 10's for $45 each. Also a Topps Chrome Pink Refractor PSA 10 for $90.
What series packs of cards do you recommend buying for baseball, basketball, and football? For example Topps Series 1 for baseball.. etc. Just getting back into card collecting and so far you’ve been my go to !
One thing to note that I do.. USPS offers free envelopes for free. I put anything in those envelopes close it all up then into my regular bubble envelopes.
Hello! First off amazing video so thank you ..and please don’t take this the wrong way but I have a huge tip I wish everyone would follow.... When you place the card into the first smaller bubble mailer ...DO NOT SEAL THAT MAILER....fold it over but DO NOT SEAL ...Then stick the open end down into the large bubble mailer. Why you ask? Because it offers the same amount of protection but now the person getting the card can reuse that small bubble mailer ...and when they mail the card, the next person can use it. The card cannot and will not slip out since it is pressed into the bottom of the big bubble mailer. Please help reduce waste in the environment and help us all save some money on packaging!! Please let me know your thoughts! Please Geoff you have the voice and platform to send this message ...we owe it to our environment and our pockets!
Jeff you such an amazing person. Me and my twin brother (RIP 5-26) Randy had a chance to work with Tebow and his charity in the very poverty stricken Manila "Slumdog Drug Infested cities. Tebow is beloved in PH as he was born over there. Kindest Regards CJ Lee
Great tips on shipping! Also great cards there!! When Tim Tebow played for Denver i went to an LCS and bought a couple packs of 2010 Donruss Elite Edition and hit an auto of his /199!
Insurance. For an item you are shipping that's worth hundreds of dollars or more do you recommend purchasing extra shipping insurance beyond the $50 or $100 coverage that comes standard with USPS?
I'm late to the party, love the videos, but as someone who spent a decade shipping art for museums, I thought I'd leave some thoughts here. Whenever I packaged art, from small works on paper to giant crated paintings, you always want to be thinking about the experience on the other end. How easy is it for the person receiving the package to open and access its contents? So often, people package valuable items only thinking about how secure it is and/or safe from impact. But if the person opening the package has to use a blade or brute force in a risky way, then you're actually putting the object in greater danger by over packaging it. For that reason, I always try to avoid using styrofoam peanuts, avoid over taping, and excessive bubble for padding. It makes the package unwieldy, creates a mess and generally give a false sense of protection. Jeff provides some good tips about making sure the cards have a good pressure fit and aren't bouncing against one another, but here are 2 quick things I would recommend: - Two layers of bubble padding over a paper card provides no protection from puncture, which is very common with envelopes. I recommend cutting squares of cardboard the size of the object and inserting in the envelope to protect the front and back from possible puncture. - If you have to use packing tape or blue tape, you can make a tab on one end of the tape by folding about a quarter inch over at the end, creating a tab that's easy to pull. That prevents the opener from having to use a blade. Hope this helps. Happy sports card investing!
I just shipped a graded card double bubble mailer, graded card in a sleeve and between two pieces, on each side, of heavy card stock, with masking tape, minimal tape.....but in the real world most ebay buyers want .99 and free shipping, pwe and .55 stamp, for single cards. I follow on ig.
The clamshell slab is a great idea! I've seen so many graded cards with scratches on the cover. Does anyone know where we can buy these clamshells? Would love to buy some for my expensive PC cards. Thanks!!
Alright I think it's about time I make an IG account 😭 with the way things are going. Appreciate your videos and all the insight & interviews. This channel is a going to B👀M real soon, I'm glad to be a part of the start! 🤙🏽🔥
Just a heads up about those "patch" cards out there. None of them are actual game used pieces. I know tons of pro athletes, current and retired. None of them ever sold bats, jerseys, or anything to the card companies. Those come from practice jerseys worn during batting practice, pre season warm ups and non game used jerseys that are left over at seasons end from the team stores. If you send anything bubble mailer first class mail, use the inside protection mailers that the post office gives out for FREE (padded priority mailers). Cuts down on your expenses.
For how much I buy...the shipping drives me completely nuts...my biggest pet peeve is not having a sleeve on a $200 card and just thrown into an envelope...grrr
Please do not use clear scotch tape to put over the toploader.. Use painters tape. It peels off easy with no residue.. The clear scotch tape can get stuck to the card when removing, plus the tape won't peel off the toploader
@@akasqueezer well ive never had a problem with it and I know a ton of collectors who swear by it. I have had cards shipped to me in team bags, where the top of the card is at the edge of the top of the holder when received. I'd rather have blue painters tape holding that card steady
I’ve noticed that both Trae and Luka Prizm RCs have gone up consistently since the season was suspended. Any idea why? I assumed it would have the opposite effect.
I was surprised to not see a mailday for the Giannis rookies you bought in that huge card buying day you had about a month ago. Did you show off those cards in another video?
You talk about scratching the psa cases but you fan them out multiple times to show us. Those are stackable cases so I guarantee you added some scratches yourself.and just by watching some of your box opening videos, your not too careful handling cards. But I love the content and appreciate your time to cover the hobby.
Thanks for making this video. Do you think you can make one about shipping lots of cards, for example, 100's, 1000's, or an entire collection? I hold myself back a lot because of this and miss out on killer deals but I'm scared of getting bad feedback or cards coming damaged.
Another great video 👍 I'm going to go off track and ask you a card question.. What are Generation Next cards? I see they've made Tua, Burrows, Zion, Ja, ect. They also come in there own "Generation Next" One-touch.. I know nothing about them except they're dirt cheap. Are they worth anything?
Avoid using penny sleeves unless they have the tapered edges and cut out corner. I don't use penny sleeves at all. All of my cards go in semi rigid grading sleeves even for my pc. And when I ship semi rigids, I use cardboard about 2 inches larger than the cards, and sandwich the cards between two pieces of that cardboard, with rubber bands fairly tight. I prefer double wall corrugation but as long as they are in a box with padding so they can't shift, that's fine. The same way you send cards for grading is the same way I send them to a customer.
One day I’m opening a envelope that said eBay on it so I knew it was my Prizm Anthony edwards lot and I open it and the raw card no top loader was in it I was mad should’ve I been mad or did I over react
$850!!!!?!!! I sent one of those as well as a few other koby rookie cards to psa a few months ago so fingers crossed!!.....wonder what my fleer metal and sb rookies die cut #1 will come back as!! 🤞
They stopped making those PSA clam shells like 10 years ago LMAO, they are damn near impossible to find today & they have no plans on ever making them again!
Do u have a stock investment channel also i think i could benefit more from that due to i have way more money in my 401k than what i can spend in cards i do collect cards as well but dont have your kind of buying power lol
Jeff!! You and PSA collector are the best on TH-cam! Love your videos and free tips.. Your insight and love for collecting are inspiring!!
Thank you!

I always discard that anyways. It's not my card till it's in my penny sleeve and top loader.
You notice Panini ships redemptions with scotch tape? Talk about rookie move. But they do it.
@David Martin I knock their feedback for using scotch or packing tape
No Scotch tape over the top loaders. Use blue painters tape is use any tape. Don’t directly tape Scotch tape to cases.
Need to use painters tape on top loader. Will not leave residue and buyer can continue to use the top loader. Regular tape can ruin the loader. I also use some card board, old common cards on either side of cards I ship, team bag and grade bag. I also ship graded cards in a cardboard sandwich too. I opened a case of 2018 Topps update and now have 12 Juan sotos all in great condition

I like when the seller puts two cardboard cut outs on each side of card. Let that take the beating. Great video!

I really like the Superior Fit sleeves. They fit so much better than the generic graded card sleeves. They have one for PSA, BGS, mags, etc.

Correct me if I’m wrong but PSA does not put team bags on their cases when they’re sent to you.
Team bag & painters tape. Thicker cards tend to still slide around with just a team bag. Overall good video
when you use 2 bubble mailers, how much do you charge for shipping on a card?
Same as normal... 3.50 or 3.99... it’s like a 20 cent mailer lol
What if you take two pieces of cardboard and put one on top and bottom of the graded card when you put it in the second envelope
Yeah, that works too.
what's the point of that? Just use a team bag
