This has been, hands down, the MOST informative single card selling video I have seen. You've answered ALL of my questions I had regarding selling my cards on eBay. I recently had an interaction with a USPS employee who told me that cards weren't supposed to be going in the envelopes because they wouldn't go through their machines, which confused me since eBay has that option.
There is a usps mailing template so if the envelope fits through the template slot which is about 3/8 thick I think I can't remember the exact size of the slot so the usps sorting machine don't reject your envelope so basically if it fits it ships I made my own copy of the template the lady at my post office let me trace it it helped me ship more cards with this method and makes you feel more confident when shipping more cards or putting protection on singles as well helps to determine the thickness of the envelope good luck all great video
Great info. I lost 1 box but found my other box full of perfect condition baseball & a few basketball cards from Topps, Fleer & Fleer Ultra, Donruss, etc. some sets. I found some Nolan Ryan Rookie's, Frank Thomas, Ricky Henderson, Barry Bonds and many more. Many are from the 1980's, many others are 1970's. I have 100's & don't know a thing about cards. lol. I just bought the boxes cheap at an Estate Sell here in SE Texas over 25 years ago.
I topload and team bag my cards as well. I also get thank you cards from the dollar store. This adds another layer of protection once they are in the white envelopes.
Appreciate the video brother! I use eBay standard envelope in my shipping as well and I love it. I actually use a slightly more durable manila 6x9 envelope and am able to put quite a few cards in there and still ship 3 oz or lower due to being able to load them side by side along with stacked. My local post office worker helped me a lot and said that the key is the package being consistently flat top to bottom. So, if you can stack some cards side by side you actually are good as long as it is 3 oz or less! I package the same way as you, and I had totally forgotten about the eBay store credit! I will have to check that out! One other note, I have also had more and more buyers getting "delivered" update on their cards 1-3 days before they actually get delivered. There was a week or 2 where that happened several times, not sure why! I also communicated as you did with them and had them hold off a few days and in 90% of the cases the cards arrived a day or two later. Love your content, and wanted to ask if you set up your own building there to run out of? It appears to be separate from your home, was just curious! Thanks brother!🤙🏻
Might not sound like a lot but I’ve had my eBay standard envelope at 3 ounces a pop. My packages aren’t anymore than 2 mostly under that. Been losing out on 1$+ every order, as I do free shipping. Glad I watched this video lol. Thanks!
im a letter carrier, delivering by plain white letter seems more reliable than bubble mailers because of how they are sorted and handled because of exactly how you showed that bubble mailer getting squished
The way I do it is in a team bag taped to the pick list, fold it like a letter and put it in envelope. Two cards in top loaders are still under an ounce.
Great video! New Low end card sellers need to know more about using eBay Standard envelope. I will have to admit that I was hesitant at first when I first started, but just like you I’ve shipped thousands of cards this way. Have I ran into a few problems? Sure. But because low end relies on volume, the amount of issues I’ve ran into is pretty much a non factor. Keep providing that education and sharing your experiences! It’s very helpful for everyone!
100% well said, I have evolved the way I ship over time through mistakes made, having voices like yourself helping get the message out is vital to help others. As usual really appreciate the comment and hope to connect on some content in the future, cheers!
I probably wouldn't still be doing this without a cheap way of sending cards that is reliable, like the eBay standard envelope. Thanks for the great video! I think you and Josh's videos are very helpful to newer sellers of low end cards.
Thank you for the advice and recommendations! I am new to the eBay card selling game and have been learning on the fly and so far have been successful. I typically don't use envelopes to ship cards. but after watching your video, I will give it shot on my lower end sales.
I also top load and team bag my cards. I’ve gotten tons of positive feedback saying my packaging was excellent so I’m assuming a lot of sellers don’t do that. eBay standard envelope is a game changer. I was so excited when eBay mentioned that it was going to be a thing a while back. I’ve had no problems shipping up to 4 standard cards for the .60 rate. (1 in a top loader and the other 3 in penny sleeves all in a team bag. 5 cards or more I upgraded to ground advantage (first class) I didn’t realize you could use a ridged mailer because I thought it still had to be .25 inches or less to qualify. How thick or how many cards can you ship at the 3oz rate from your experience? Great video. Just subscribed.
When I take my eBay standard envelope down the post office, so far every time they ask me to pay an additional $0.40 per envelope to avoid the machine because they say it's too rigid to be machined.
Have you tried just dropping them off in the bin and walking away? I’ve never had a problem with them and I’ve shipped over 100 of them myself. The employees may be uneducated on the process, but the background system seems to know what to do. Tracking shows up and everything.
I also drop in a blue box. Occasionally I’ll have a top loaded card be sent back for additional postage. In my case I’m ok with this because I have a lot more (essentially free) top loaders than I do card savers which I usually pay for. Money I save there helps cover the cost of a stamp if it’s sent back.
When i do the toploader my local post office will only let me do the 3 oz more expensive 1.11. Ive noticed i jad more luck with it. Had many that didn't make it to buyer. But their tracking isn't good. But i ship a lot that way.
i use the penny sleeve in a toploader in a team bag method. i don't use the tape except on the team bag. i make sure the team bag is tight around the toploader. use tape to secure team bag to the invoice. now i do this one trick. when i tape the team bag to the invoice i place it towards a fold in the invoice, then when i stuff it in the envelope, i make sure the toploader's edge is towards the top of the envelope. reason being the whole deal with the machine washable idea is that when letters go thru the machine it usually prints something like a barcode along the bottom of the envelope. keeping the toploader away from the bottom might help prevent the envelope from jamming up the machine. just something i have done.
90% of what i ship also go only in a penny sleeve, top loader, and team bag. I put blue painters tape on stuff that needs to go into semi rigids like over sized vintage.
I've been doing Ebay off and on since 2011. I haven't really listed anything the last couple of years though and had gotten away from collecting. After watching one of your videos a couple days ago about low end sports cards I listed 5 cards last night after work to get started. I sold two of them within an hour. I love your videos and thank you for the great content.
That's awesome...I'm having a great sell through rate as well...and this channel has challenges me to start listing more and more often...having 2-3 sales per day now, rather than 1 or 2 per week...
I started listing daily at first and had much traffic and some good sales but I gave it a week where I only posted over the weekend and you can see a drop off quickly. Basically have to post daily to drive views and increase sales.
I use it, but have had 3 claims recently for lost items. My local post office turns away any .60 shipping as it is non-machineable so costs me $1 to ship any items.
Loophole I experienced, buyer provided incorrect address, requested a refund. When I filed a claim it excluded wrong address delivered, even if it’s the buyers fault. Seller is out with no insurance. It’s only happened to me once. But overall getting the insurance refund is a hassle.
I have offered free shipping for years because of the perks from Ebay, but I just recently started charging shipping on everything. Now I am offering discounts instead to see if it will ramp up sales. So far over the last two weeks, I haven't noticed any difference. I just setup the discount rule though in my settings, so hopefully that will work... Thanks for the content :)
Jmac I appreciate you.I started doing this about 4 months ago and recently hit a slump. I found your channel today! And I’m grateful you’re out here helping
Started last week after watching tips from you JMac and a few others and so far so good. Made $300 with 51 sales of nothing but under $13 cards, mostly $1-3 variety. I did use a bubble mailer on a couple of nicer rookie cards over $10 but mostly I have used $.60 (card saver) and $.84 (top loaded card) variety depending on if it's a rookie or not with free shipping. I only charge shipping on bid items because I have no reserve so if it sells for $.99 I at least make a little.
You guys are so lucky having cheap shipping with tracking. Lowest price we can get here in Aus for anything close is around $5, makes selling low end cards almost not viable here unless you can sell in bulk or not use tracking which is very risky.
I do like the eBay standard envelope. I mostly sell Low end sports cards. I have come in trouble with the eBay standard envelope it’s gone all the way to the processing center and then it comes back to me saying that it needs 40 more cents for shipping when all of it is this a Toploader penny sleeve in the envelope. Some of the cards make it through and some of them get shipped back to me. So I think from now on I’m just gonna have to charge $1.10 per shipping and make sure that they don’t come back to me.
I also use the privacy tint easy close 24 lb envelopes 6 3/4 they cost more then the standard lb envelope but it withstands the beating if you have a lot more cards in there just my opinion
I have watched a lot lot of videos lately, yours are simply GREAT! I need some advice.... I recently received a very large quantity of baseball cards and I am not sure how to deal with them. I estimate the volume to be over 20,000. THERE'S a BUNCH.... I am sorting them now. A lot of these cards look really good. I had a few that are 1950's and as new as 1999. I need some advice. Please...
I sold out my first tcg card on eBay just yesterday after listing it (2nd one is pending payment)! Thanks for the tips especially on combined shipment which no many talk about.
I use Armalopes with my low end cards, however Ebay Standard Envelope shipping has been hit or miss for me. I have about 3-4 "never delivered" cases open at any one time. Thank god for the insurance.
Great videos thx. I also use the envelope program. I use the Toploader then I put 2 sticky note on top of the Toploader then tape on top of that. I noticed using painter tape it leaves the top loader sticky using the sticky note keeps the Toploader fresh.
I have tons of low end cards that i just let run at auction and have free shipping. I have had some customers mad that i send a base rookie in a pwe on their $1.08 purchase 🤷♂️
Love your videos. I bought the Epson scanner based on one of your videos. I am working on building up my card sales on eBay, any suggestions on how to get to the number of sales you are generating?
Crazy that ebay charges you fee on a % of shipping too. I sold a 0.99 card but had the buyer pay 4.19 for ground advatage due to the thickness of the jersey card.. all said and done, ebay took over $1 in fees and i owed like 5 cents 😂
Thanks for the wise information. I just wandered into your channel. I subbed and favored your store also! I just came back to the hobby and I've enjoyed stalking ebay so far lol.
I use top loaders, but I've tried doing 1 ounce on shipping and I've had a lot of cards come back because of insufficent postage (machine washable). So I've gone up to 2 ounces, and in some cases 3 ounces depending on the state (Minnesota and Washington). I would love to charge less on shipping or even do free shipping and raise my listing price. What would you suggest? Going with the card savers?
I'm glad i'm not the only one complaining about the high shipping costs! $5-$7 per card!!! Its obvious that they are trying to make more $$$. They may have a cheap card but they recoup the cost via the shipping.... You may win that card for $1, but they charge $5, then you get a PWE in the mail...they made profit. I don't mind ppl making money, but don't give me the shaft. I can't stand getting PWE when i pay $5 shipping.
It's just how the game is right now. I'd be happy to offer free shipping but I'd also have to increase my prices. Personally I'd like to be all included into one price to make it easier for everyone
You just put this video out and literally the next day i get an ebay purchase in one of these envelopes and the card is gone, and the envelope was shredded. 😢
I got a topps archives pete alonso from you a while ago and everything went perfect with ebay shipping. I really like it and honestly if I don't receive a card that I'm all in for a couple of bucks on I just don't sweat it
As a buyer, I would rather pay a few $ more for the card and get the $1 shipping option, so that the seller gets a larger portion of the funds at the end of the transaction. For example, that card you won for $1.25 that cost $7 nearly only left the seller with $1. If they had $1 shipping, the buyers may have bid up to $5 or $6, costing the winner the same amount, but the seller would net closer to $4 or $5. You can also sometimes negotiate a better price for cards priced over $20. A $25 card that includes shipping will get the same deal for the seller at the $20 price point with Ebay Standard shipping. As a seller using this option, please remember that Memorabilia cards with cutouts that are near the edges, or some of the combinations cards that have a "frame" and an acetate window will not be structurally sound and will be prone to creasing when they are sorted. This is by far a great deal for the ebay card business. This didn't exist way back in the day.
Love your show I did buy a card (zappe) wasn't huge but I need to sell more than I buy at the moment but wanted to show my support keep the great content!
I have seen seekers that have a long list of the sets. Where you can choose a specific card from a drop down like the topps series 1. 1-300. What do you think about that? Is that more for just base cards?
cheap shipping tracked, standard is the way to go. I absolutely hate seeing low end stuff with $4-$5 shipping. It's just not worth it a lot of time. Thanks for sharing.
Its amazing how many $1-3 PC cards I don't buy because the shipping is $5. A lot of times I will message the seller asking if they will ship in a PWE and they always say no. Also thanks for pointing out that as the seller you can file a claim if a card goes missing. I actually just had this happen to me a couple weeks ago and thought I was SOL. Saw your other video about it, filed a claim and just got reimbursed.
I've been the "NO" guy and for me it's because I don't want to get burned but I've come back around to giving it a go after seeing more videos about how to handle claims.
@@OakRaderTraderX I just had to file an claim on a card I recently sold. It was the first one I've ever had go missing using this shipping method and it was incredibly simple. Took maybe 5 minutes and got refunded in like 3 days. I'm also not convinced that something shipped in a PWE is any more likely to go missing than something shipped First Class in a bubble mailer.
Nice video. I am trying to sell my Pc on eBay. Started out with larger priced cards but now will go back to being simple. Cheap sell fast. All your vids have encouraged me so far. Thanks buddy.
Question so when selling PWE have you ever delay with EBay users claiming they never received their cards? I’ve only sold PWE 3 times on EBay and used the EBSE shipping on them and didn’t have a good experience with it. First guy scammed me outta 10$, my 3rd PWE sell is still hasn’t “received” it yet even though it’s been over a week 🤔🤔🤔 idk i try to give people the benefit of the doubt.
I want to know the answer, too. I can not figure out how to ship with tracking an item that doesn't cost as much as shipping with tracking. Lol. I sent an item in PWE. Waiting to see if the buyer received it.
@@JMacSportsCards Thanks yeah I enjoyed your video along with others. I usually ship one regular card. I’ve been putting 2 ounces because I don’t want to post OFFICE charging the customer on the back end I just use a penny sleeve, Toploader team bag and use painters tape to tape them to a paper folded up inside the Envelope. I think it’s under 1 ounce but I thought these were non-machinable and a minimum of 2 ounces so you might be saving me a $.24 per shipment ha ha
For the cards you are putting into an envelope under 20 dollars are you just putting a stamp on them? And if you are not is there a reason you can not just buy a stamp and mail it out?
do you print your labels or do you have the post office print them for you? I want to start selling cards, currently I sell other things and I go to the post office and they print the "prepaid ebay" label that I purchased.
USPS tracking is included my friend, also as i said the cards are insured so really doesnt matter what happens to them once they leave youre covered. Easy easy...
I’m still looking for clarification. You say you use the larger rigid envelope when the thickness requires it, and that you pay more (the weight requires you to do that), but you say the larger (6x6) “rigid” mailer is not machineable, but, I don’t think the difference in .60, .84, $1.04 has anything to do with the need to pay more for it to be non machineable. The difference in price seems like it’s only the result of the increased weight. But have you learned that the increased postage is covering the non machineable surcharge on the 6x6? Or that the 6x6 in fact cannot go through the machine? The eBay guidelines say that ESE must be “not too rigid” and that it has to have standard thickness throughout. I also called eBay and the rep said ESE postage is only for machineable.
if it is non machinable (too thick) you are gonna automatically get kicked back and have to pay $.40 more so I always bump to 3oz if its more than 2 cards in most cases or if its a patch card or thick stock card. I list patch cards and thicker stock cards with $1.25 shipping instead of free shipping as well. Thats what I do. Others have their methods.
New subscriber! Fellow Panther fan! Love the channel! Love these videos! I have been thinking about doing more with eBay so these videos are super helpful!
Was originally hoping it was Stroud, but at this point gonna trust this coaching stuff and GM as they are making all the right moves. So I think they will get it right and whoever they pick will be the best QB in the class.
Mostly into the clerk. Occasionally in the drop box inside the building, even less in the drop box out front in the parking lot and even less left in the mailbox at the house.

Thanks for the tips especially on combined shipment which no many talk about.
my post office won't let me do the 1oz 60 cent shipping. sucks cause it's costing me money on selling cheaper cards. Have to do the .84 shipping.
That’s because you are not using the eBay Standard Envelope rates and printing off eBay. If you did, eBay has a discount deal with USPS.
Love watching your videos. I am also a low end seller who uses this service. It has been great since I started using the eBay standard envelope.
I use Armalopes with my low end cards, however Ebay Standard Envelope shipping has been hit or miss for me. I have about 3-4 "never delivered" cases open at any one time. Thank god for the insurance.
Do you use semi rigid or top loaders? I use Armalopes and semi rigid with zero issues in over 1000 sales.
I agree , why would I pay $3.50 to ship when I can ship it for .60 cents,,
The tracking was always important to me,
Great videos thx. I also use the envelope program. I use the Toploader then I put 2 sticky note on top of the Toploader then tape on top of that. I noticed using painter tape it leaves the top loader sticky using the sticky note keeps the Toploader fresh.
Yep I don't use painters tape on top loaders I use a team bag, thats it as shown here in the video.
Great video. Learning a lot from you. Thanks for sharing
Lol I just commented on another video saying I'd like a shipping explanation
👍
Sound very organized nice
Man I just want to say thank you so much for all the information ❤❤
I got my first package in an eBay standard envelope this week as a buyer. That’s the only reason I got the card. I love it!
That is awesome!
I print directly on the envelopes. It's a great program.
Yep seen that method as well, whatever works!
I have tons of low end cards that i just let run at auction and have free shipping. I have had some customers mad that i send a base rookie in a pwe on their $1.08 purchase 🤷♂️
They get what they paid for ;)
Love your videos.
Awesome! Thank you!
I use rigid mailers and ship for 1.08
Time = money and less headaches with the rigid mailer.
By the way stamp going up to 66 cents in July. Stamp will be going up twice a year. Next year stamp most likely be 70 cents
Also what do you do for patch cards
Do you have to be a eBay store or just seller to get this discount from 1oz to 3oz you have spoke about in this video?
Never seen that before, wild...
I’m trying to understand the eBay fees on these weekly sales. It’s .30 per transaction and about 12% correct?
I got a topps archives pete alonso from you a while ago and everything went perfect with ebay shipping. I really like it and honestly if I don't receive a card that I'm all in for a couple of bucks on I just don't sweat it
Thanks for the purchase
What about 80s and 90s cards
Jmac you the man. Appreciate the advice. Been learning a lot from you. Keep up the good work
As a buyer, I would rather pay a few $ more for the card and get the $1 shipping option, so that the seller gets a larger portion of the funds at the end of the transaction.
Keeping coming with the content. Excellent stuff!!
Much appreciated!
4:25 Your PWE dimensions in your AMZN link are smaller than your Rollo label dimensions?
Love your show I did buy a card (zappe) wasn't huge but I need to sell more than I buy at the moment but wanted to show my support keep the great content!
We’re appreciate your support any way you give it. Thanks!
Much appreciated and totally understand!
I have seen seekers that have a long list of the sets. Where you can choose a specific card from a drop down like the topps series 1. 1-300. What do you think about that? Is that more for just base cards?
Not a fan difficult to navigate and doesn’t get each card exposed in search I never have and never will us it.
I just recently got a card showing that postage was 19 cents. I'm not sure how they got it so cheap.
So you can use a rigid mailer and still use the standard envelope labels without an issue?
Yep at the 3ox / $1.08 level. Just cant be too thick.
or have like 5 patch cards in the package ...
Hi JMac. Thanks for all the videos. Does the thermal printer you use print the eBay standard envelope label?
Yes
cheap shipping tracked, standard is the way to go. I absolutely hate seeing low end stuff with $4-$5 shipping. It's just not worth it a lot of time. Thanks for sharing.
I get it on $2.00 cards but i see these .25 cent and under cards for sale i have cards under a dollar how do you make money on that
JMAC, thanks for the videos! Who does the claim on "lost" cards in the mail? The seller or the buyer?
the buyer opens a case, the seller opens a claim th-cam.com/video/pNOtSiJjnhw/w-d-xo.html
@@JMacSportsCards man, thanks. Wish I would have seen this earlier
when I sell a $20 card, its obvious the person wants it for collection so they will pay the extra 3.99 for the bubble mailer with tracking
Thanks for watching
Its amazing how many $1-3 PC cards I don't buy because the shipping is $5. A lot of times I will message the seller asking if they will ship in a PWE and they always say no. Also thanks for pointing out that as the seller you can file a claim if a card goes missing. I actually just had this happen to me a couple weeks ago and thought I was SOL. Saw your other video about it, filed a claim and just got reimbursed.
exactly
I've been the "NO" guy and for me it's because I don't want to get burned but I've come back around to giving it a go after seeing more videos about how to handle claims.
@@OakRaderTraderX I just had to file an claim on a card I recently sold. It was the first one I've ever had go missing using this shipping method and it was incredibly simple. Took maybe 5 minutes and got refunded in like 3 days. I'm also not convinced that something shipped in a PWE is any more likely to go missing than something shipped First Class in a bubble mailer.
Would you ever send in a penny sleeve and tape between 2 thins pieces of cardboard? Or better to put in just top loader?
that works.
Nice video. I am trying to sell my Pc on eBay. Started out with larger priced cards but now will go back to being simple. Cheap sell fast. All your vids have encouraged me so far. Thanks buddy.
Thanks for watching and good luck on selling!
Any link for those rigid mailers ?
Here's the brown ones I use amzn.to/3UwqxWu
@@JMacSportsCards TY been having a tough time finding a good mailer
Do you put 1 oz for $0.60 for single cards or 2 oz for $0.84? Thx
Depends on the card stock, discussed some of the variables in this video, but regular stock 1 card goes $.60 1 ounce
Is eBay still doing the eBay bucks thing?
not sure
do you print your labels or do you have the post office print them for you? I want to start selling cards, currently I sell other things and I go to the post office and they print the "prepaid ebay" label that I purchased.
Yep I print the label myself at home with a thermal label printer 🖨️ links in the description
So I just started selling some cards on eBay, would I still be able to use a small bubble mailer if it weighs under 3oz with this shipping program?
No bubble mailers wouldn't meet the requirements.
@jmacsportscards so you use the rigid mailer when you ship more than 3 cards? Also do you purchase the 1.08 label when shipping with rigid mailer?
Yep and yep
@@JMacSportsCards thanks! Appreciate it!
Stupid question, how do you get the customer info on the envelopes? Do you just tape on a regular shipping label or is it with a printer?
print labels from ebay that populates all the info for you
printed with a thermal label printer, links are in every video for the stuff I use.
Do you sell more auction or buy it now on eBay?!
A lot more Buy it Now, but I do max out my allocation of auctions each month.
I’ve got a credit one time in a year from eBay.
How do you handle cards that were shipped but not "received"?
made a video on it...
Can it have a window?
I personally wouldnt use those type of envelopes, but dont see why not.
For low end cards, do you think 5 day auctions or buy it now/best offer listings are the way to go? Love the channel!
No right or wrong way, if a player is hot/relevant auctions are fine.
@@JMacSportsCards Sounds good, appreciate the response. Thank you, take care brother
What about tracking? Do you have tracking or do you just trust your low end card gets there?
Appreciate that!
Are hoping for Bryce Young or Stroud for your Panthers??
Was originally hoping it was Stroud, but at this point gonna trust this coaching stuff and GM as they are making all the right moves. So I think they will get it right and whoever they pick will be the best QB in the class.
Thank you for this video JMac! Subbed!
Welcome!
Do you just drop yours in a box, or do you take them into a clerk??
Mostly into the clerk. Occasionally in the drop box inside the building, even less in the drop box out front in the parking lot and even less left in the mailbox at the house.
Good stuff man appreciate your content!
