    I have a same problem with my Z2 60" leaving a straggler every now and then. You're going to love it when you have to change out your hydro oil it is extremely easy. Make sure you get 5 qt of oil because you're gonna use just about all 5 courts.

    Flip the bolt so the nuts are in the opposite side.

    I have the same mower and same missed grass. I like the mower so much that I don't mind hitting a few spots twice. About to do my first service. I will sharpen the blades then.

      Sounds like a good plan. I'm having some issue with the bolt that secures raising and lower the deck on the front. It keeps coming loose. Always something!

    Just got my ZT2 50". I agree about not having a gas gauge, but you can see the side of the tank from the side without lifting the seat. I hate that I have to get off to check, but I guess that gives my legs a stretch. :D

    Yes is see some blades that don't get cut as well but only on the overgrown yards. Its not a bush hog designed for cutting yards that look like pastures. Cut the yard more often and the stragglers go away.

    @b376010 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    ZT2 54" here, perfect, love it! You're cutting really tall grass, expect some stragglers. The blades from the factory are not sharp at all, more of a blunted edge. Sharpening may help. I also moved my deck height pedal to the other adjustment hole and haven't had any problems reaching it, it is much more comfortable than the factory setting. I guess that depends on your height and seat position.

    I have zt2 54 in have 160 hrs cut 12 properties every 2 weeks with hills have had no problems keep blades sharp I can cut wet grass and I am a lot lighter than other zero turns so I don’t leave ruts as they will and it will be easier to get unstuck as it’s way lighter all services are easy and you can do it yourself and if it’s vibrating it’s because the grass is to tall it’s a great mower I have had them all

      That's the model I just bought and it came with a tuff torque transmission and doesn't have the reservoirs by the engine that I've seen on older models with the hydrogear 2800's. Any idea what difference this makes?

    I’m a sucker for OEM but your correct many mowers are made by the same company like MTD. One thing I would definitely do is trash any blade that’s got deep chips. There’s an old timer down the road who does a great job sharpening blades even though I only used his service once, he will not sharpen any blade with a chip. Thanks for the tip on inserting the opposite end of the socket wrench to lock the spring arm in place when removing the deck.

      I was out mowing today and was thinking about your blade comment. It's the little things like that that I appreciated about youtube comments. New blades for next year, already have some chips!

    I know I'm 8 months behind but out of curiosity could you flip the lag bolts around that hold the steering arms in place so that the flush side is on the inside? I realise the one of the handle is probably recessed to match the head but a longer bolt flipped may save a leg or two.

    I'm looking at these right now and it breaks my heart that they were $4,000 just two years ago. They're $5300 now and "on sale" online for $4,999. Joy.

    On the right arm switch the way the two bolts tighten up. So you don’t gash up your leg.

    How big of a fuel gauge do you need when the fuel tank is see through and it takes 2 seconds to lift the seat and look.

    • @GreenMountainDIYGuy
      @GreenMountainDIYGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, when you first start, but how about and hour or two into the mow?

    • @H1cat
      @H1cat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GreenMountainDIYGuy for myself anyways I don't find it that much of an issue to have to turn off the deck and lift the seat to take a peak. But I also have a good idea of how much I can cut between tanks. I get what your saying and it is convenient to just have a sight glass or gauge but not a deal breaker for me.

    • @DVeck89
      @DVeck89 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same mower. Even picking up the seat and looking at the tank, it’s still hard to tell exactly how much is in there. A gauge would be nice.

    • @GreenMountainDIYGuy
      @GreenMountainDIYGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dantastic Agrees. Looking directly down is tough to gauge unless the tank is completely full.

    • @GreenMountainDIYGuy
      @GreenMountainDIYGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dantastic exactly, I recently thought to myself, ok, I’m making a bigger deal than what it is but like you said, I lifted the seat the other day and it is hard to tell how much is in the tank when looking straight down!

      Nice! I'm at about 17 hours now. Got my first flat a couple of days agi...too much air in the tires and it arrived that way from the dealer that way! Make sure to have no more that what the tires says. For the ZT2 60, 10 PSI max.

    Hey there Green Mountain. Thanks for the great review and honesty about some of the short comings of this mower. Since this video, have any other issues cropped up and how many hours do you have now? I am still on the fence about Cubs reliability thus I am cross shopping other ZT's. However it's hard to find serviceable trannys in this price range which is the nice thing about the Cub. Thanks for any other info you can share. Best!!

    • @GreenMountainDIYGuy
      @GreenMountainDIYGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. Yes, a few other small issues have popped-up. I was waiting for Spring to do an update. The nut that holds the front rod that connects to the mower deck keeps coming off. I have to tighten before each mow. Also, I'm seeing more vibration rattling but have only run the mower a few times to move out of the shed. I'm going to bring back to the Dealer this Spring to have the issues looked at.

    • @YukonHawk1
      @YukonHawk1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GreenMountainDIYGuy Thank you for the update. I've narrowed my choice down to the Ariens Ikon XD and the Toro Time cutter my ride system. The trannys are sealed and not serviceable....but that's what I'm left with within my price range. Anyway good luck with the cub....I'm hope the dealership can take care of you.

    zt2 w/60" fabricated deck here. 2 years in, and the fabricated deck is literally coming apart at the seams. have a cub tractor with a stamped 46", and that thing has held up wayyyyy better.
